This was a great video, Paw! The cameos were rather surprising and fun!
I just got into the Marx Bros. and they are indeed AWESOME! Duck Soup had me laughing my ass off like crazy! Best of all, even my 16 year old nephew loved their movies!
I still have to see many of their movies, especially A Night at the Opera and The Big Store.

Really good choices paw and i agree with all them but for me Lydia The Tattooed Lady is my number 1. I just love everything about it the beat the lyrics the music everything about this song screams genius. But whether you think you like one song better than another i think we can agree that The Marx Brothers Music is pure gold. If you want to learn how to write songs listen to them!

Ah, well. It's your list, do what you want with it.

11.13.2010 - 03:51 | Failed-YorozuyaWonderfully done review. Very concise and well though out. Wasn't expecting a review of the Marx Bros. on TGWTG, but my hat's off to you for doing so. I only wish I could get access to more of their silver screen classics in my local rinky-dinky video store. Also, it sound like you're channeling more James Cagney than Groucho Marx with the cigar bit.

I was raised on the Stooges myself growing up, but I still love to watch the Marx brothers. I just haven't seen too many. My favorite is actually Day at the Races, and I almost felt bad until the end. Not that I love the music in the movie, but I do love "Tomorrow is Another Day". I may have to put some Marx brother's movies on my "to see" list.

11.13.2010 - 04:18 | DoctorWormMy only disagreement is that I would have put "Whatever it is, I'm against it!" from Horsefeathers somewhere on the list. I have a bit of a bias for that one, since Horsefeathers was the first Marx film I saw. My parents made a "swordfish" joke, and realized from my and my sister's blank faces that we had no idea what they meant.
Watching this video made me wonder: could you do something similar for Gilbert & Sullivan?

11.13.2010 - 04:47 | NOTYETUSEDNAMEHi Paw. I'm seriously impressed with not only your encyclopedic knowledge of both music AND the Marx Brothers, but with your presentation skills/writing/editing/ etc. You are the complete entertainment deal, my friend. I can't wait to see your next video. Peace.

Seriously though. Paw, you have the highest production value of videos on the entire site. Very great to see.
Unfortunately I haven't ever seen any Marx films... I'll get around to it some day. Closest I've come is a few mentions in Woody Allen films. hah...

Love the selections you've made. One of my favorite moments is in A Night in Casablanca. Harpo stumbles upon a plethora of priceless Nazi prizes in a hidden room between the 5th and 6th floor of the hotel. He is in awe while he plays around with the treasures he accidentally found, but when his eye catches a harp in the corner of the room, he gets this heart warming look on his face. Out of all of the riches, the apple of his eye is his own art. After he does a few more silly actions, he proves to us how priceless it is by playing The Second Hungarian Rhapsody.

Wow! Growing up I was pegged as strange because I knew who the Marx Bros. even were. None of my peers watched their films or had any clue of their brilliance. I always felt it was their loss. This list makes me feel so happy that there are other folks that like them as much as I do. (Duck Soup is my all time favorite film. Cry Freedonia!)

Ah, it's always good to see a nod to the good ol' Marx Brothers.
I actually still have a few of their movies lying around that I need to get around to watching. Like a Day at the Races, Monkey Business, Animal Crackers. Damn. I've just been too busy. I might watch them all tonight.
I also just realized how hard it is to pick a favorite movie by these guys
Anyway, yeah, I always freakin' loved Chico's piano solos in the ones I've seen.
Great video, Paw

Paw this video brought a huge smile to my face. I was pretty much raised on the Marx Brothers, and movies like Duck Soup, Night at the Opera and Day at the Races were ones I watched with my parents all the time. Though I was the only person in my grade that knew who Grouch Marx was, I'm glad to see someone else appreciate them and their huge musical talent as much as I did :)

Also, always love the outfits you pop up in during these things.=P If I recall correctly, you wore that same outfit back during the old "Ask That Guy" viewer answers edition! Though lacking those "amazing" eyebrows, and mustache, lol.
