09.30.2009 - 08:58 | OgawaBurukkuI agree! Peg's song is probably my number one favorite Disney song PERIOD. I sing that song all the time, even though nobody has any clue what it's from.

Nice list. I've never heard of the Bedknobs and Broomsticks movie. And I agree about the casting for Robin Hood. I don't know who the actors were, since I can't find my own VHS of the movie, but all of the voices were just fantastic and fit every part. The music in that movie all around was great.
Happy Birthday, Lord Paw.

saying you love lists is an understatement (I do too, its not an insult) Was that Hephilumps and Woozles in the background?
At last, something positive mentioned on this sight from my generation (New Groove)
You seem to have a theme in the beginning of floating objects don't you?
"Good ol' fashioned family Racism"
Had to be done...

09.29.2009 - 20:59 | EnkilI don't know what it is with your videos, but they take an ungodly amount of time to load up on my computer. I don't have this problem with any of the other people on this site, so if you could do something about that, would you?

09.29.2009 - 21:02 | Pcnerdjack16I'm happy someone has my love for The Sword in the Stone and The Emperor's New Groove. Great list Paw

I dunno, I would have chosen the song where they were fish from Sword in the Stone "Left and right/Like day and night/That's what makes the world go round".
Course that's probably the most memorable song granted... but so few people remember the movie in the first place.
Kudos on Emperor's New Groove, that was a surprisingly hilarious movie.

09.29.2009 - 21:42 | ShadowbadgerI can almost assure you it is Heffalumps and Woozles in the background. I've listened to that song so many times I'd recognize it anywhere.
Anyways great list and thank you for bringing attention to Bedknobs and Broomsticks in general as it is an overlooked Disney Classic in this day and age.

That was a good list. The only song I recognized were the electrical parade and the song from Emperor's New Groove. Deep down inside, I was hoping "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" from The Great Mouse Detective would make the list, but I'm not mad that it didn't or anything. You're like, almost 10 years older than me so you're bound to have grown up with different Disney movies.
Incase anyone's interested, here's a link to the song I was talking about.

30 is not old. When you're Merlins age then you can complain about your age.
I never get tired of your top 9. They're funny and interesting plus your editing skills are topnotch.
The best part is just listening to you speak fondly about your favorite music, it's so entertaining. Totally agree with the #1 choice btw.

Loved the list. So nice to see someone not blindly handcuffed to the "Disney=BAD' bandwagon!
All the songs were great and deserved to be up there, but being one who wants to have his cake and eat it too....I wished "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (An Actor's Life for Me)" could have made it onto that list. But oh well...
(also "EPCOT Entrance Melody", as far as my brain knows that song = Disney World)

09.29.2009 - 22:23 | knuckles896Great list, though personally I would have probably put a song from The Hunchback of Notre Dame in it if it were me. That movie is one of the few Disney animated movies that nobody ever seems to mention.
If I had to choose a song from that movie it probably would have to be either "Out There" or "God help the Outcasts". Even though it was nominated for best score, the songs themselves never really got the recognition they deserved.
Thanks for making an awesome list and reminding me of some old favorites I had forgotten.

09.29.2009 - 22:30 | psycher7Bedknobs is AWESOME, if you haven't seen it, do so immediately. Why? 4 words: ghost knights fighting Nazis. It and Secret of NIMH were my favorite movies until the first time I saw Star Wars.
I LOVED DTV, my faves were Bay City Rollers' "Only Wanna Be With You" set to Peter and the Wolf, Diana Ross & The Supremes' "Stop! In the Name of Love" to a few Mickey Mouse shorts, and, off an NBC Halloween special, Daryl Hall's "Dreamtime" set mainly to Alice In Wonderland and Fantasia. For any anime fans who like AMVs, it's pretty much the prototype: combine a song with clips from one or more sources to tell a story or convey an atmosphere or just to experiment creatively. I thought I was the only one to remember it!
You know, I actually turned 27 today, and was feeling a bit down about it. Seeing this really helped put me in a better mood. Thank you.

OMG! I so remember the Main Street electrical parade!
...ok, so I didn't remember it's name, but it's one of the things I remember the most from my only trip to Disney world exactly 20 years ago.
So, yeah, you just made me remember one of the undoubtedly best parts of my my childhood with this song Paw. Thanks a lot! ^^ (Not that the other songs didn't count to me XD )

09.29.2009 - 22:40 | RedKanaryNice stroll down memory lane. We're about the same age, so I've got the same soft spot for those 70s Disney features like Bedknobs and Robin Hood, and Dumbo's my favorite.
You've definitely got some of the better graphics I've seen in the videos on this site. Using Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom for the interstitials was inspired.
I do have to take issue with "Come Little Children." While it is a nice moment in a real mess of a movie, the entire song is literally two lines long - two lines! It hardly counts as a song.

Psh, they didn't recreate the Eletrical Parade in it's full glory. I've seen it. I wanted to desecrate the grave of Walt Disney after seeing how much they cut out. The old parade I believe was 30. This one made about 15. And they had like one glowing turtle and it didn't even come up to me! I want my turtles!
I like "I Love You Too" from Pete's Dragon more. Is that one more well known? News to me.
And I also think you should've included Step in Time or I Love to Laugh from Mary Poppins. Because between the countless other songs (which I love ALL of them) they never get recognized. And I LOVE Step in Time.
OMG BABY MINE! D: When I heard the redone country version I almost died. Not a parent. But I still cry a little bit hearing it.

Great list :)
"Baby Mine" is currently being used in Disneyland's "Magical" fireworks show, underscoring Dumbo's Tinkerbell-esque flight over the castle, so it should get a little more recognition.
Oddly enough, I once saw that "He's a Tramp" was included on Disney's Princess Songs Karaoke CD. One of my favorite Disney songs, but I still can't figure out how it wound up on a Princess CD!
I wish "Emperor's New Groove" had had more songs. That's the best scene in the movie :).
-
Somehow... I just knew that "Baby Mine" would be first. I don't know why. Maybe because it's been in my head on replay for the last few months since I re-discovered it.
It was nice to see Robin Hood on the list, along with Hocus Pocus. The only one I might not consider as underrated is "He's a Tramp", due to it's inclusion in the Disney's Greatest Hits album. Given, it's not the Siamese Cat song or Bella Notte, but still. =P
In any case, good list overall. As a fellow musician, I salute the vast amounts of musical awesome that you bring to TGWTG.
Also 30 isn't THAT bad...
Great list man.. He's a Tramp I'd place at #1.. that or We are Siamese (if you please)
I'd have Robin and Little John running through the forest..
Otherwise great list..
What would your #11 and #10 be?
