At first I was a little unsure about the two of you pairing up, but it actually turned out to be an excellent review.
This is one of the few times I've actually heard someone encourage button mashing... Also that last level sounds about as bad as mystery meat navigation. Erk... :S
Now i gotta find copies of this to try out before pax east. :pinch:

03.24.2010 - 15:06 | Paper_BanjokamiThis was a good review, not much of a collaboration, but a good review. It was like 2 separate reviews, and you 2 didn't interact. I would've liked to see some interaction.
I also learned something new, in that this game, Rez, and Electroplankton were all made by the same person. On top of learning about this game. Very good stuff.

Great idea for a video!
Poor Jew Wario! At least he seemed to have great fun with the game!
I imagine Elektroplankton will appear some day, and it is a great "relaxation" game!
One recommendation! Rhythm Heaven (or Rhythm Paradise) for the DS. It is not a game where you create music, but it a fresh air in the market of music games, and it one of the games that I most play! The music is great and the commands are simple, but the difficulty rises very quickly, and at each stage you feel like the creators are teaching you a little more about Rhythm...
Keep up this series!

03.24.2010 - 17:16 | 192bpmi really love otocky, it's one of my favourite games ever, although i'm not good enough to beat it.
useless trivia fact:
the girl on the cover of the game was a japanese pop singer/actress named natsuki osawa (amazing sunglasses at 0:56).
now she's doing porn.

This game is pretty cool I hope it is released on a virtual console some time. This seems like a cool fun segment , I'm just starting a kick of rhythm/music games. A great game for a review or just to play is Elite Beat Agents, I have never had so much fun with any music game, better than rock band , guitar hero and the like.More of these obscure music titles I hope to see in the future.Electro Plankton is fun to mess around with but with no real goal other than make music I have very little want to really pick it up after the first look but all in all fun to mess around with. Also why no recording studio function , at least one I can't find , recording my own tracks is only fun if I can hear/alter them in post.

03.25.2010 - 21:01 | wyrdwadTwo great minds working together = awesome video! Great job, guys! (:
Paw, if you haven't tried it yet, you should check out Hatsune Miku: Project Diva on the PSP - or really, just look into (and maybe record a video about) the Vocaloid phenomenon in general, as it's really quite fascinating, technologically impressive, and SO VERY DISTINCTLY Japanese.
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva would particularly appeal to you, though, I believe, for its impressive edit mode, allowing you to create your own note patterns, dance moves, camera angles, set pieces, and even lip-synching for any MP3 you load onto your memory stick. The sheer amount of options is staggering, and the dance moves are all very fluid and well-animated (thanks to the whole game benefiting from extensive motion-capture work). Search YouTube for "project diva edit" to view a few some of the videos people have put together so far - lots of familiar songs, including a few excellent Michael Jackson edits.
(I'm mentioning all of this, BTW, because it seems like you're reviving this whole Music Games video series, after a looooooong absence... and I highly support this, as I find your music game videos to be quite fantastic, so I figure I might as well try to give you a few more options to check out, no?) ;)

I never thought I'd see such an old game here, and even less being good. Finding it might be hard, but if I see it, you can be sure I'm gonna get it (if it isn't horribly expensive, that is).
Electroplankton would definitly be a nice choice for your next review, although I'm still thinking both Bit.Trip Beat and DJ Max would be great.
@wyrdwad : Project Diva definitly would be nice for a future review, although it's not available in NA for now.

It's really interesting to see how far music games go. I've only played a handful myself, including Gitaroo Man, Parappa the Rapper 2, and Rez (and of course Rock Band and Guitar Hero). I had no idea they had ones this old. Otocky looks really fun to play, after watching I think I just have to go play Rez.
I'd like to see what you think of Gitaroo Man. The animation is corny, the story is ridiculous, and the voice acting is just awful (and silly), but I really enjoy playing it.
Thanks for whetting my appetite for Toshio Iwai. I really would like to see Electroplankton featured here.
