You're right Paw. The game isn't too unknown. I specifically remember hearing about it a while ago. I was never that into point-and-click adventure games, so I didn't pay the game much mind.
I wouldn't have guessed there was especially good music in there. Thanks for bringing it to my attention Paw. Another good video. :)

The game/story is presented in 2 parts, you can get both Syberia and Syberia II at www.gog.com. Very good adventure game comparable to The Longest Journey.

05.23.2010 - 01:44 | WristWatchMafiaI don't think I've ever disagreed more with you, Paw!
The music was good, but the game play was sub-standard. Puzzles that were basically protracted fetch-quests, the fucking train perpetually running out of spring-power (who the fuck powers a train with springs anyways?!), a main character I can't sympathize with, and thematically the adventure is basically a suicide mission for a crazy old man (i.e.- I don't care about it).
Add to the fact that Syberia 1 ends adruptedly without so much as a how-do-you-do to an ending, and the 2nd one, although picking up right where the first one left off, apparently had the music selecting committee shot in the interim.

Do you mean the last commercial adventure game ever ?
Cause there have been a few of them since. Runaway 1, 2, 3, for instance. Post Mortem/Still life (1 & 2), Secret files and Take 2 games (Sam & Max, strong bad and so on...).
There's even a third Syberia planned for 2011 ! Adventure games are not dead !

05.23.2010 - 04:08 | appleclockThere is 1 issue - it was song with an accent far different from russian. Some words are pretty messed up, but I can hear that only because I'm a russian myself.

Anyway - great song, great game, I love you Paw.

05.23.2010 - 12:52 | adrasl300I remember Syberia! Beautiful game. It was made by Benoit Sokal right? Did I spell his name right just now?...well whatever.

05.23.2010 - 08:39 | khablablaThanks so much for this, Paw. Syberia is a great game, and it was perfect for me because I have a strange love for automatons. The music is PHENOMENAL. You gave me a great start to the day!

This is absolutely beautiful. My sister bought Syberia II a while back and I saw her play it the whole way through, but I've never seen nor played the first game, so I guess I missed out on this incredible music.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the game was animated in, Montréal? I think, so it would make some sense why it may be a little more unknown than the average game. The storyline, along with the animation, though, is brilliant and original; Kate Walker is sort of like Lara Croft without the guns and blatant sexuality, so her intellect works very well for the atmosphere.

05.24.2010 - 23:56 | JohnDaggerPaw, have you checked out Red Dead Redemption's music yet? It may be simple, but it has these sweeping moments at the perfect times while playing that will pull you into a world long forgotten.

05.30.2010 - 12:30 | Anthurak the ChaoticVery nice. I haven't looked into this genre much, but you've gotten me interested.
On another note, are you ever going to do something on the Ace Combat series? Because that has some AWESOME music in it.
