Sounds like I've been missing out. This game is now top upon my hit list. Thanks Paw.

You're right Paw. The game isn't too unknown. I specifically remember hearing about it a while ago. I was never that into point-and-click adventure games, so I didn't pay the game much mind.

I wouldn't have guessed there was especially good music in there. Thanks for bringing it to my attention Paw. Another good video. :)

Such fitting music for a beautiful game...I love it when scenes are happening while someone is singing opera, I find it awesome.
• chainrule  - where to get it
The game/story is presented in 2 parts, you can get both Syberia and Syberia II at www.gog.com. Very good adventure game comparable to The Longest Journey.

I will have to add this to my collection once I get a decent income. And thank you Paw, for sharing that wondrous moment in music and video game history.

I've just finally gotten around to finishing Syberia II last weekend. Wonderful, wonderful games. It's kind of a shame that the complete soundtrack for each one is maybe 7 tracks. I guess Grim Fandango spoiled me. :3

I don't think I've ever disagreed more with you, Paw!

The music was good, but the game play was sub-standard. Puzzles that were basically protracted fetch-quests, the fucking train perpetually running out of spring-power (who the fuck powers a train with springs anyways?!), a main character I can't sympathize with, and thematically the adventure is basically a suicide mission for a crazy old man (i.e.- I don't care about it).

Add to the fact that Syberia 1 ends adruptedly without so much as a how-do-you-do to an ending, and the 2nd one, although picking up right where the first one left off, apparently had the music selecting committee shot in the interim.

If I remember right Syberia was last commercial adventure game on PC.

Do you mean the last commercial adventure game ever ?

Cause there have been a few of them since. Runaway 1, 2, 3, for instance. Post Mortem/Still life (1 & 2), Secret files and Take 2 games (Sam & Max, strong bad and so on...).

There's even a third Syberia planned for 2011 ! Adventure games are not dead !

There is 1 issue - it was song with an accent far different from russian. Some words are pretty messed up, but I can hear that only because I'm a russian myself.

Anyway - great song, great game, I love you Paw.

Best adventure game EVER! Can't wait for Syberia 3 :woohoo:

I remember Syberia! Beautiful game. It was made by Benoit Sokal right? Did I spell his name right just now?...well whatever.
• khablabla
Thanks so much for this, Paw. Syberia is a great game, and it was perfect for me because I have a strange love for automatons. The music is PHENOMENAL. You gave me a great start to the day!

This is absolutely beautiful. My sister bought Syberia II a while back and I saw her play it the whole way through, but I've never seen nor played the first game, so I guess I missed out on this incredible music.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the game was animated in, Montréal? I think, so it would make some sense why it may be a little more unknown than the average game. The storyline, along with the animation, though, is brilliant and original; Kate Walker is sort of like Lara Croft without the guns and blatant sexuality, so her intellect works very well for the atmosphere.

Syberia is a french project, from the comic book author Benoit Sokal (who created the story and the general artwork for the game). I'm not sure wether the game has been animated in Canada or not, but i know it was released earlier in France...

this is definitely an awesome song, i have an arrangement of it for piano ( i am a music geek, and not only play it on piano but six or so other instruments as well, lol) but i have to say that its super awesome that someone decided to put it into a video game! :D
• JohnDagger
Paw, have you checked out Red Dead Redemption's music yet? It may be simple, but it has these sweeping moments at the perfect times while playing that will pull you into a world long forgotten.

If you're going to do music in a video game an absolute must is Hitman 2. Seriously.
• Anthurak the Chaotic
Very nice. I haven't looked into this genre much, but you've gotten me interested.

On another note, are you ever going to do something on the Ace Combat series? Because that has some AWESOME music in it.

I found it a lovely piece, but nothing that really stays with me. Perhaps the next one of these you do will have something more to stick in my head.
