10.02.2009 - 21:34 | SomewhatThis series was intended to be informative on how his musical tastes evolved over eras, if I recall correctly. Thus, if metal had no place in his life, it had no place in his series.

because of justice im now pretty deep in the Electro music. Otherwise I probably never would've discovered the Presets, MSTKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco for me.
Moonbotica, Digatalism and Bloody Beetroots are great as well...

ah, the end of Full Circle. hopefully not the end of Paw's contribution to TGWTG, as the ending both implies and denies, heh.
kinda surprised electro is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but i know at least one other hardcore music nerd with electro at the top of their musical pyramid, so i guess i shouldn't be. i'm not too big on it yet myself, but Paw's recommendation of Interstella 5555 sold me on Daft Punk, and my aforementioned friend has forced Shpongle and Benn Jordan down my throat, so it's really only a matter of time before i'm assimilated

Wait! You can't close a circle. It just keeps spinning round and round. You start one area, go around, and end up where you began. And keep going and going and going and ...
Hmm, maybe i'm putting too much thought into it, or I'm thinking of a top or something instead ... Oh well.
Been a pleasure watching and listening to ya Paw. As always.

I apologize Paw I totally scoffed at your video and especially at your music taste, I have never considered myself a fan of any kind of electronic music, but right now after watching your video I looked up Alice and WOW, I mean WOW, I really don't know what else to say, it blew me away, It might be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard, Thank You For your Videos!

PAW, I cannot express enough how in awe I am of this series. I may not share all of your musical tastes, but it was an interesting and thought provoking ride. Even when you were preachy (which was rare) it never made me feel like my time was wasted. All in all, I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us next.
Rock on, music nerd! Rock on. ;)

The moment I saw the title of this video I got sad. What do you mean, "final". Dude, I love this series.
You better come up with something equally funny and informative or ... damnit, I hate when I don't have any leverage. Ahm, did a pet, let's say a cat or a dog ever run away from you and never came back .. well, I'm holding it hostage and I'll fill it's stomach with tar and drown it in a septic pit if you don't do as I say!
Seriously now, it's a shame Full Circle has come to an end. Of course it would come to an end (being on a timeline and all) but I was hoping there are another few episodes you could squeeze in. I truly enjoyed this show and being the music illiterate that I am I learned a lot here and I checked out a bunch based on the stuff I heard in these clips.
Thank you, Paw. Full Circle was/is awesome.

05.14.2009 - 23:36 | Johnny MidniteHey, Paw, if you're into this whole kinda electro-ey music stuff, I've got a few suggestions, if you haven't already heard of 'em.
Dan Deacon: Fun, kinda nonsensical synthesizer guy. Great stuff to get a party dancing. I'd say start with this album Spider-Man of the Rings
Super Mash Bros.: Mash-up DJs. Highlights include mashing up Nelly's "Country Grammar" with Blink 182's "What's My Age Again?" and E-40's "Tell Me What You Got" with Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen"
A-Trak: Definitely one of the best DJ's around. Kinda more mash-up stuff, although not all of it. He mashes stuff up with his own music. It all sounds really good, though.

It was a great series, and I'm sad to see it end (for now... I heard that "Yoink!").
I know a lot of bands and a lot of songs, but I've been greatly influenced by my parents' tastes, so my knowledge of music mainly covers the 50s-70s, with some smatterings earlier (20s-30) and later (mid 80s & late 90s). So these videos have been a real treat in introducing me new genres and terms I wasn't very familiar with.
I know what you mean by (to the effect of) discovering artists through odd ways. When I played the game Jet Set Radio, it introduced me to a bunch of different sounds I hadn't heard or paid attention to before, and I got a number of new favorites.
Thanks for the great videos, and thanks sharing them with us.

Great show, cant wait to see what you do now.
Actually i think youl find that techno is a sub-genre of electro ;). Electronic genres are mainly based around the beats, techno is basically just short looping beats, house is long looping beats etc. Then people like aphex twin started to experiment and do something original which messed up the genres a bit, so lots of really obscure genres like drill n bass, and glitchcore started being invented. Then after a while people realised that trying to give every different structure a sub-genre was just stupid, so basically most recent electronic is just called elecro :).
I find naming genres to be pretty much pointless anyway, it should just be you either like it or you don't. Alot of electronic genres are structured really similarly to other genres like rock anyway, just people assume theyr completley different because they use synthesisers.
Oh and, all the ducks are swimming in the water!

I never really got in to Paws vids simply because it wasn't really my kind of thing but when I watch this I have to say that even if it doesn't really suit me you're doing one hell of a job. The whole thing goes so smothely, you make a good editing job and you don't go over the top or do anything you can't handle.
Even though I might not watch it I'm looking forward to your next videos.
(Kinda)

well I think we haven't seen the last of you eh? and that is for the best, since your videos are very informative and most of them (if not all) introduced me to new music and genres I didn't like at first but now I'm considering to listen to.
now you should step into unknown territory and talk about boybands! XD sorry, couldn't help myself from mentioning them XD
hoping to see more from you :)

05.15.2009 - 06:17 | chefprotossGreat vid, but techno is a genra of electronic music (much like house, trance, drum n bass ect...). For some reason in the early 90's people that don't go to raves or even listen to electronic music started calling all "rave" music "techno", when in actuallity they couldn't be more wrong. Techno uses the same 4/4 kick beat that house and trance use, but there aren't really any melodies. There are just machine-like industrial noises and bleeps that make up the greater parts of the songs, where as house is funky and has chicks singing, and trance has very epic and overly dramatic synthesiser melodies. Electro has been a genra of electronic music right beside techno since they were first created. One wasn't born out of the other. Calling all "rave" music "techno" makes just as much sence as calling all hip hop "Snoop Dog".
This knowledge comes from my personal experience as a dj playing in clubs, and the numerious books I've read on the subject, which if your trying to be the best dj you can be, it only makes sense to learn the history of the music you play.
Don't get me wrong though, other than that I thought this was a truly awesome vid!

05.25.2009 - 10:11 | adrasl300When you were on "Justice" I was just thinking about that they work pretty much like a electro arena heavy metal.....funny coincidence.
Well Heavy Metal is probably my favourite music genre!
Too bad it stagnated.
The same song structures and same riffs and ideas over and over again.
Luckily its a fairly deep genre for those who look.
Soo I always fin new bands to keep me interested.
-
05.15.2009 - 06:25 | adrasl300I always thought Electro was an umbrella term for things like Techno et cetera.
Nice to know something new.

05.15.2009 - 06:39 | sethnuvayou bastard how dare you close the circle... this is the best series on TGWTG and it 's probly the most intelligent too. you better continue making videos :pinch:
