"Aaaah ich steh auf sie ich find sie cool. Hör mir das Tape nochmal an weil ich `s zurückspuhl. Denn das ist meine Mucke alter..." Great Song.
I'm pretty sure you'd also like the Lyrics. It's not that usual Gangsta Shit. It's Music about Life. Very positiv. If you're into German Hip Hop try "Absolute Beginner" http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=pKusRxt3mBw

Wow, looking at the connections you made from just Busdriver was like watching someone play the hyperlink game. I've always been amazed by the things you learn or discover when you dig deeper and look at the origin of something. I takes more effort than just watching the TV or listening to the radio, but in the end its always worth it.

04.09.2009 - 00:50 | dakostroKudos for encouraging your viewers to keep an open mind. I consider myself pretty openminded when it comes to music (and in general) and it really bugs me when some are so unwilling to try new things.

Honestly, i was already moaning when you mentioned german hardcore again... but then you got to the Fanta4...AWESOME!
Like Sabuto said, the lyrics are pretty clever; the song that you showed btw. is about a band which just became famous ("popular") told from the perspectives of an old fan (who hates'em now) a new fan and the star himself... a great live-act, too!
Never was a big hip-hop fan, but there always were some exceptions which i simply love... Del definetly being among those... i thnink i gotta check out all the others in this ep. right now:)
Oh Tony Hawk games really were a great source to find new music B)

I'm really getting into these series. You have cool and unique style of delivery and production.
I just kinda missed Mos Def when you talked about alternativ hip hop. On the other hand it might have been too predictable to mention him. I didnt know Busdriver and Abstrack Rude but I think they're right up my alley, so thanks for introducing them.
I must also insist that you give Absolute Beginner a try if you're still into german hip hop. They are way better than the "Fantas" and they're from my hometown ;-).
Keep up the good work.

I'm from Switzerland and this country is pretty much an extension of the German music market. Meaning: We get all the German stuff. It was VERY surprising to see Die Fantastischen 4 (or "fanta4" - you say it "fanta-fear" ) on your list. Now THAT was a big surprise. They were GODZILLA in the late 90's and they're still FRICKIN' HUGE now. I always thought Americans probably laugh at German hip hop. Nice to see it's apparently not all that ridiculous what this band does.
Ps. Actually, some songs have rather interesting lyrics. They started with stupid silly stories about .. well .. for instance two guys finding out they're dating the same chick and stuff like that. Later singing about social issues got more important and now ... well ... they're walking the fine line of interesting lyrics and plain stupid fun. (imho)

I've never really called myself a huge fan of hip hop or rap in general but I've slowly started to warm up to it over the years and see its merits but I can definitely appreciate awesome uses of turntablism, sampling (I definitely have a few songs I love based off a creative use of a sample) and beatboxing.
The guy at the end definitely floored me and makes little wannabe, PAB's (punk-ass bitches) like Justin Timberfake look stupid in comparison.
As a Canadian with a lifelong love affair with music of the European variety, it's safe to say that next session should be awesometastic. Then again, "Full Circle" is always awesometastic. ;)

Excellent vid Paw, I always look forward to your videos.
And so long as we are talking about rap, and the French, you ever listen to Keny Arkana? One of my favorites, check this out

And from our friends over in Japanada, Soul'd Out (their stuff is always taken off youtube, so just ignore the collage of the Korean singer on the vid.)

These two artists really got me interested in the whole genre.

Hey dude!
Liked your episodes so far. This may not have anything to do with this particular episode, but I just thought I'd recommend you a band from my home country since i've noticed you're interested in bands on a wide spectrum... You may like a Finnish band called Alamaailman Vasarat (=Hammers of the Underworld), which is an instrumental band with distorted cellos, woodwinds, grand pianos and whatnot. Their music has been described as a mix of classical music, klezmer, punk, "kebabjazz", heavy metal and so forth. It's great!

Hey people, thanks for the music recommendations. There are few things you brought up I've never heard of before, Keny Arkana being one of them; I really got into that song surprisingly, so thanks for that. French hip-hop is pretty hardcore lyrically because of that massive counter-culture there. Civil disobedience FTW.
Here's a clash of cultures for you, DFV vs. Sens Unik, another french hip-hop artist. Love this song:
