03.11.2009 - 22:25 | SabutoGreat Video as usual! Thank you!
Oh and by the way:
KMFDM Keine Mehrheit für die Mitleid actually means: No Majority for (the) mercy
(gives it a littel twist i think)
even in German it sounds wrong ;)

Its ok, someone had to like crap music, might as well be you. I would be more compassionate to you, but you STILL haven't seen back to the future yet.
As for the video it was indeed awesome, but Crazytown, really? Oh well, anything with Carlin gets it up by 30 cool points.
Also nice to know I am not the only Bond fan on the site, hell I still own every Bond flick (minus the new ones) on VHS!

03.11.2009 - 23:37 | GoobianPaw, your videos are some of my favorites on this site. I look forward to them. I don't consider myself a music junkie like yourself but I do take music seriously and I have a time line myself of how my music tastes have evolved throughout my life.
BUT Limp Bizkit isn't just songs like "Nookie" they have several songs on that cd significant other that have meaningful lyrics, and a beat that makes you want to get your aggression out.
The cd chocolate starfish and the hotdog flavored water is also really good. I know Nookie and Rollin and all the other mainstream dribble they made into singles might be a turn off but the other stuff is really good.
I love Eminem too. So yeah I don't think we could be roommates in any lifetime lol.

03.12.2009 - 00:47 | Husky - Quite a few disagreements here...Yeah, i gotta defend the limp, too, actually. i never really liked songs like rollin' that much either but they do have some awesome tracks like "rearranged" and "take a look around" (which is a waayyy better use of a sample than butterfly :P). Heck, not only wiggers (and i also hate those guys) like LB and i am definetly not ashamed that i do.
The first Gorillaz album was great...i would have just gone with clint eastwood! And thx for reminding me about OPM; gonna include that on my next partytape, too B)

Yea, that's a little joke by the band but quite frankly: They SUCK! Big Time! Even more than Rammstein...can't understand why you have to give nods to them:/

Hey chocolate starfish was pretty much the sh** back in the day. Especially the drummer, John Otto, with his very unique style that pretty much defines the whole album (which is a very rare thing).
So you have a recap that includes Nu-Metal and Deftones are nowhere on the list? How is that possible?
Totally agree. Deftones made some of the very best releases in the late 90's.

Memories of junior high school. I hated Nu-Metal and Rap Metal with a passion as I was growing up, cause that's what all the jackasses loved. Because of being in this state of social rejection I discovered bands like King Crimson and Led Zeppelin! Hell yeah, Zeppelin can kick Limp Bizkitz ass any day!
But seriously though, the early 2000s were an abysmal time for music. If you ask me, it all went wrong with the death of Mr. Cobain, but that's another story.
The funny thing though is that all those bullies I knew in junior high who flaunted themselves and their Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park music, by the 9th grade were all listening to Hendrix, the Who, and the Floyd!

03.23.2009 - 07:58 | adrasl300Trivium is "true metal"?
I hate the "True metal" term but I dont think Trivium or Metalcore in general qualifies as such

I love the nod to KMFDM... I've been a fan of the band as well as the phrase.

It's sad how many people I had to tell and in some cases CONVINCE that KMFDM did NOT stand for "Kill Mother Fucking Depeche Mode".
If you're into the Bond theme, have you heard the version by the string quartet also named "Bond"? They are fairly obsure, and had released a ton of CDs between 2000 and 2005, appeared in a couple movies, but have been pretty quiet since. They're one of my favorite groups. Im sorry my man. Paw kicks ass. But I'd just liked to add...
...I absolutely despise the Gorillaz
Terrible, Terrible, Annoying music. Dare is the only thing that I can stand for a few seconds.
As you may know, I have horrible taste it music. But if the Gorillaz = Right.
Then I love being Wrong.

03.12.2009 - 06:30 | Walt ConwayI'm surprised at the lack of Len here. Sure they're not the most influential band ever, but Steal My Sunshine was a definitely a good throw back to the beginnings of hip hop with a little disco thrown in there.
-
03.12.2009 - 07:26 | RATM10The only good thing that can be said about Limp Bizkit, is "Three Dollar Bill, y'all" Which is, in my opinion, a good CD, not great, but good. Everything else by them is shit. Also I dunno if I would consider Static-X nu metal, especially with "Wisconsin Death Trip", which shows them at their heavy metal best. Just my 2 cents.

Ahh, now there's the music that pretty well summed up my Grade 6-7 years...not that I was the hugest fan of it (though I was really getting into electronica at the time). It's funny, I totally remember that Moby version of the James Bond theme and everyone always thought I was crazy for thinking that it even existed...but it did, DAMMIT!!
Heh, I often used the (untrue) acronym "Kill Mother Fucker Depeche Mode" just to help me remember KMFDM's name many years ago. :P
If the electronica thing near the end was an allusion to anything, then I'm definitely looking forward to Session 6. Well, I already eagerly look forward to these videos anyway. ;)
Please keep on being awesome, Paw. :)

Somehow the numetal scene kept its distance from me, and me from it. There were a few good songs I admit, but 3-5 good songs from a whole genre is kind of weak. Of course this is the mainstream stuff I'm talking about and I know not to judge a book from it's cover but I could never get myself to open this book to "study" it more.
But this is just my oppinion so don't come hitting me with a stick after you read this.
Anyway, good video. I'm supprised that you didn't notice RHCP in that song. And the other song from them that had a video too was also an RHCP ripoff.
-
on limp bizkit they have a few good ones i enjoy, like new pollution, hold on, the one, break stuff, and nobody loves me
excellent tearing down of their popular shit though like rollin and my way
even if you hate them admit they had a good sound
anyways i can't relate to much of these bands so yeah
and linkin park though overrated was the best thing to come out of rap rock
-
Paw, I gotta say that our tastes are usually pretty in tune with each other, but I despise "Heaven is a Halfpipe" or whatever the title is. I find the lyrics insipid and the tone of the music dull and groan-inducing. Just have to say it. I hate that song. Otherwise, a good job on the vid. You are a welcome addition to the crew in the Shadowdancer's pedantic and arrogant opinion!

03.17.2009 - 22:54 | swagarDespite my embarrassment of being an ex-Limp Bizkit fan (hey, I was like 8 ) I still gotta admit Wes Borland is a pretty cool guy.
-
03.17.2009 - 23:21 | swagarOh, and Rearranged is one of Limp Bizkit's only good songs.
-
This remark doesn't particularly make sense considering that you give nods to rap-rock artists Beck, the Bloodhound Gang, and OPM. Needless to say, I am disappointed that terrible bands
like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park ended up as the representives of rapcore, being that many established artists had done well in experimenting with mixing rock and hip hop, and there are some pretty strong underground bands mixing hardcore with rap.
Also, "nu-metal" isn't an actual genre. It's an umbrella term used frivolously by music critics to describe rock bands that don't really fit into traditional arenas such as rock and roll, hard rock, heavy metal, or punk rock. Kind of like "grunge" back in the 1990s. Even "alternative music" is questionable, because music by definition is meant to challenge standards and expand upon previously established ideas and create new forms, as all art should.
-
Holy crap! A well thought argument! Sorry I don't see those much any more and it caught me off guard. But I agree with you. I admit I do have a bad habit of over-generalizing things so as to not go over the heads of the people who may not understand where I'm coming from when I refer to things like rock-rap and the like.
I admit to you now that my secretive list of guilty pleasure songs does include a smattering of rock-rap-esque type of songs and that all music (and I do mean ALL music) qualifies as meaningful expression. If just turns out that sometimes that expression is "I suck". However, for every genre-ruining artist that comes along, there are 10 more who either exemplify it, or redefine it completely. I just have to stick to what most people are familiar with here.
Thanks for that comment though, pretty poignant.

05.21.2011 - 00:39 | MysticStudiosProductionsA lot changed from when I first wrote this comment. I actually like Limp Bizkit now, and find them one of the more entertaining nu-metal bands, because they are more oven reveling in ridiculousness than self-pitying. I like stupid music sometimes. Whining? Not so much.

Dude. When I heard "Megalomaniac" I about shit myself.
I love KMFDM.
Thanks so much for being one of the very few people who even acknowledge their existence while speaking of music, since Industrial isn't quite as popular as it was during the 80's and mid-90's thanks to Trent Reznor(Nine Inch Nails) with his lovely little tune "Closer".
