Wow! I didn't know these things existed! I just got back into watching Xena on Netflix (just got through watching her 3 eps in Hercules and then started the first episode). So this is perfect timing!

Unfortunately, since this is an abandonware adventure game, I'm going to have to go play the game before watching your vids, and I'll want to wait a bit in between, so the content quite as fresh in my mind. If others feel the same way, it may mean you won't get nearly the level of views you should.

I'll go ahead and watch the first ad of each video, though.

Okay, so maybe I'll try playing along instead, since it doesn't seem you can change much, and I like your commentary. you'll still have to wait a bit, though. Stupid hard to find game.

The stick is supposed to be a dowsing rod, used in ancient times to find sources of water. However, the likely hood of a stick as opposed to two metal rods finding a source of water doesn't seem very good, and they won't drag you towards said source, even if they do work. Then again, this is Xena we're talking about here...

The "impossible shadows" as Lewis likes to call them were pretty much standard issue for games in the 90s, so they weren't actually floating.

This game...this game was weird. While I haven't seen the episode, the story certainly sounds interesting enough, but the talking Cerberus and the big lipped alligator moments involving the inner thoughts and the disco ball were just that: big lipped alligator moments. In fact, there really wasn't much of a pick your own story element since two out of three choices in the later scenarios force you to choose the correct one. There aren't even any real alternate endings that are shown as a result of picking a "wrong" choice. At least those "pick your own path" adventure books from our childhoods at least told you the details of what happened before your untimely demise should you have gone down the wrong path. Still, your commentary helped make this a lot more bearable. Thanks for the Let's Play.

While the disco ball was weird, it isn't entirely out of place given Sam Raimi and his sense of humor.

I shouldn't be surprised by how boobtastic all the female characters looked. This was before the time of jiggle physics so this is what they came up with to compensate.

Will you ever review the direct-to-video 2D animated stuff from the franchise?

The animation is actually quite good and expressive for a 90s game! I also remember there being a late-90s Xena action game, though I'm not sure how famous it is.

I like how it displays "multipath movie" like it's certain it is going to become a thing. Heh, people in the 90s really believed that interactivity would be the death of film. How quaint.

No, models are good for 90s. For low poly model pretty awesome.
But animation is awful. Capture motion without any thought. Looks like characters have constant seizure or weird convulsions.
However lip sync is good... even much better than some modern games.

This was goddamned hysterical! I made an account just to say that u_u

Just saying that if you're doing a "blind" Let's Play, it's worth noting in the header.

They're very different from regular Let's Plays (less expert gameplay and more hilarity) so just a thought.

I'm surprised you didnt question the fact that Xena an the love interest died yet death is still locked up therefore they cannot die by the games logic.

The episode itself is about 44 minutes long. This lets play, with dying three times and the stating explanation, was about 38. You know, the episode was a very "filler" episode, but it looks like H.G. Wells compared to this thing.

Also, am I the only one who could barely hear the audio from the game? When I checked out the sound levels, it was barely registering.

I have the same issue. I put my laptop volume all the way up to hear what was going on in the game. Of course that means that Lupa's voice is really loud and I hope that won't bother my roommates.

I'll admit, I haven't seen Xena since I was a kid, so I don't remember much. However, I'm pretty sure Gabrielle didn't sound like a valley girl and wasn't that girly and annoying. Also, I could have swore that Xena and Gabrielle ended up together. I remember them kissing and being shocked (I was little and hadn't seen a gay couple at that point, so there was no way I could have imagined that). So when I saw Gabrielle with the love interest, I thought, "Woah, is Xena going to be pissed." Anyway, this was a weird game overall. The animation looked horrible. The shaking really bothered me. And what was up with the bad, dead guy's hands?! They were way too small for his body. I know it was the 90s, but I don't remember animation being that bad back then. And Cerberus talking ruined it for me. And sorry the game killed you by not doing what you picked. That gotta suck. Still, you made this fun to watch and I laughed at a lot of your comments. I wonder how the next game will be like.
