04.01.2012 - 18:33 | Neo Ultra MikePffft, we all know the only good Star Wars movie was the animated clone wars movie... oh wait sorry I meant the only good Star Wars SHOW was the animated clone wars... and by that I mean the Genndy Tartksovey one from 2003-2005, not the CGI one on now.
Still pretty good review as it treaded a good line between obviously not really making fun of it and trying to sort of sound geunine about cracking on it. Sometimes you can come off as too over the top in that regard but I'm glad you didn't do that.

I'm with Eric on this
Genndy's series focused more on the action which was cool but it's story wasn't well written and very sparse plot points. the CG one tries and succeeds with the feeling of a building story (in terms of some characters and relationships becoming what we know them as, such as Anakin's starting to distrust Obi-Wan and the Jedi Consul for a good reason. Then there's how Boba's still pretty innocent and while he's good enough to kill a bunch of trained fighters he can't take a jedi using the force).

0:00- You’re reviewing one of my 6 #1 favorite films of all time? …No. No. That’s not true! THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! You were my friend, Lupa! I admired you!
(And the Star Wars related comments begin.)
You can’t win, Lupa. If you strike this film down, it shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
2:26- I find your lack of fear disturbing.
3:54- Your arrogance blinds you, Obscurus Lupa.
3:25- Don’t underestimate the characters.
(I love the Tom Selleck joke.)
9:35- The possibilities of Lupa (’s character) to give a crap about this movie is approximately 3,720 to 1.
10:10- Is it possible for them to make it work?
…Not according to the sequels and prequels.
(At least Hasbro turned Porkins into an action figure.)
11:58- You have been well trained, Lord Ash.
(Seriously, nice April Fool’s episode, Lupa.)

Okay, April's fools, but not completely joking at the same time. No movie is perfect and cult classics are no exception.
It's been a while since I first saw this movie, but I remember hating Luke's face; seriously, he has the same wide-opened eyes with the same half-open mouth 95% of the time.
"I really hope I won't have to suffer through another trilogy with another protagonist who put on one expression for the advertising posters and then kept it throughout every movie." (watches The Lord of the Rings a few years later) "... It's official: God hates my guts".

Great April's fools Lupa. One of my favorite inconsistencies of this movie is explained by the 'how star wars should have ended'-clip. They have done similar things for many other movies, and it's dead on.

I saw this movie way back when I was kid, and forgot about it until now. Thanks for bring back the bad memories, Lupa. I have to admit though, I do remember seeing some sort of a christmas special on CBS after it came out. It was actually pretty good. I remember the guy from the Carol Burnett (sp?) show was on it. I really wish they would put that on DVD. It was hilarious but I still don't why they chose this franchise. I did see they did 6 movies of these but they also did another franchise called Star Trek. I think they had like 4 or 5 of those movies too (they're all bad but the odd numbered ones are actually the better of the group).
I just wish they wouldn't make so many of these direct to video movies. At least make them as good as the Beethoven series or the Ernest series. At least they keep their jokes fresh. Unlike these old tired and cliched stories star bores does. Seen one, seen them all.

You tried to sound like you know what you're talking about. You tried so hard...ultimately, you failed.
Seriously, it's obviously an april fool's joke, she didn't "try" to make it look bad, she was hitting every hot button issue that fans have with the remastered version and prequels.
And you can make Star Wars look kinda stupid. Ever see the RiffTrax? They point out some pretty silly stuff.

Fun review, it made me laugh. Happy April's fool day to you too Lupa! :D
Slightly off-topic, but... seeing people poking fun at Porkins always make me smile. I absolutely LOVE William Hootkins, the guy who played him. Seriously guys, go check his IMBD page, read a couple of articles about him and tell me he's not awesome. So much talent in one sinlge person!

I watched this well before April Fools, since it showed up in the queue right after your last Frogtown review. I know what you were going for, but... Sorry, it wasn't really funny. The Rifftrax guys proved it's possible to make good jokes about a good movie, but you weren't really making any jokes. You were just pretending the whole thing was lame, and I fail to see the humor in that. I guess we could call this a worthy enough experiment, but a failed experiment, none the less.

04.02.2012 - 05:15 | PodorojnikAgreed. It wasn't really funny or anything.
-
04.02.2012 - 12:18 | YeahwhateverDisagree. Very much. I actually found it was brilliant that she actually snuck real legitimate criticisms about the movie's dumber parts in along with the obvious jokes.

Indeed. This needs a follow up review, with the afore-mentioned wardrobe selection. Dialogue would make such a follow up entertaining, but if no ideas are forthcoming, I think such a wardrobe... uh review... will still be successful.
