  • gold120k  - if you need direct help
Hey Kyle if you need help with anything like editing and stuff, i'm an undergrad at AU and would love to help if you need it.

Kyle, you can consider the call answered. I already pledged a couple of days ago (Thursday, I believe). What's more, as gold 120k said, I'm also willing to provide direct help as well. I'm a sound guy with a specialty in Post Production Audio for film and television... specifically animation in my case, but I've done live action things as well. The process is not all that different. Personally speaking, I can handle dialogue editing/reconstruction, ADR, Foley, sound design, basically speaking everything that isn't a 5.1 surround mix... but I know people who can do that.

I want to see you do this, and I'm happy and proud to support you in any way I can. Break a leg, Kyle!

    I like this idea.

It'd also be nice if you could make brief discussions about the two infamous episodes. I hope you know which ones I mean. (Well, you did make an audio commentary for the one already. The other one, even if you probably can't use footage from it, could still use some retrospection even if few ever saw the episode.)

Good luck, Kyle (I keep wanting to call you Oan, as you might've noticed). It's been an awesome run so far with the show, considering how busy you've been with your studies. It's been worth it.

I would actually advise against the re-watching idea. I mean, sure your opinions on a movie would change after 2 years, so does that mean in 2 years, you're going to review it again? I mean, if the original review was only, say, five minutes and you only focused on a few parts, and then wanted to make a longer review that focuses on everything, I'd say go for it. But when the originals are full length and you've basically said all that can be said about it, why do it again?
I would advise you to just focus on your movie project for now and come back to Brows Held High when you're fully ready. We can live with the reruns until then. Besides, do you REALLY want to torture yourself with Ken Park and Trash Humpers again?
  • cannedfury
What DylanS said. Even if you do have more to say on it, retreading the same ground is a move that rarely sits well unless they're shorts in a collection. Those who liked the reviews have rewatched them, those who wanted additional thoughts have watched the commentary, and those truly interested have watched the movies themselves. (Thanks for the great recs, by the way) Adding another to that is going to diminish the material, at least as reviews. So unless it's a clip show, it would be better to wait a little longer.

I would say focus on your film, because it sounds hilarious. We've still got your back, even financially. But if you feel the need to create for the site in the mean time, anything low effort but involving new material sounds good. Maybe even attempts to intellectually analyze something ridiculous, except explicitly under-researched for laughs.
  • ShalomDove
I actually really like your re-watch idea. Taking a second look at things can be a great intellectual exercise. If you decide to do this, I would definately tune in :)

Good luck with the end of school! We're rooting for you!

First thing I'd like to say Kyle is good luck with your upcoming Semester. We can't wait to see the videos later this year of your graduation. Also, your idea to re-watch and re-review. I would really like to see you re-review "Anti-Christ" and "Sleeping Beauty"...I still think both movies will still be awful, but maybe you'll view them as a little less awful??? I've seen Anti-Christ 3 times now, and I just can't find it to be all that good. Best of Luck, and I look forward to all your future videos and postings

Well if you really want to put yourself through the torment of watching some of those films again, by all means. Some of them I don't think I could even handle once, let alone another time. Otherwise, do you have any archived old BHH episodes that have yet to be uploaded on this site?

Good luck on your film. Hopefully you'll be able to share it once it's all completed and marked and everything. Happy graduation.

What Carl Sagan's Cosmos is to cosmology, your Brows Held High is to art house film. You demystify it. Your charm makes it approachable. Your explication makes it appreciable.

If you *only* revisited previous films, I don't think it would be as exciting. Not even Sagan could make the Drake equation interesting twice. Now, if these re-reviews were occasional installments, surrounded by new films, that might work.

Regardless, I'm a huge fan of Brows Held High, and now, I'm proud to be a (measly) patron of the arts. Best wishes, Kyle. Make us proud!

Good luck with your thesis project. I will be rooting for you from behind the computer screen as well as pledging. I cannot wait to see it! I hope you have a happy graduation.
  • Iris  - Congratulations!
    avatar
On your upcoming graduation, that's awesome. I think the idea of re-watching the movies you've reviewed is an interesting idea, passing time always gives different perspective. I love your reviews and I've watched your insight grow with each video, so I think it will be an interesting and humorous project.
  • lildemisa
As long as your doing the re-watches as short lil 3-5 mins things that just quickly go over how you did or didn’t change your mind about the movies, I think it’s a really cool idea. I’m guessing that’s what you meant since your so busy with everything.

    also BEST OF LUCK!!!
  • Thecrazyone1500

    yeah that does sound cool

also I would love to help with pledging, the big rewards are really cool too.
But I would just LOVE to get the DvD and I can prolly afford at least that much , but Id also love to hear the commentary but I dont have that much money lol would you consider doing something about people like me? I know you dont want to screw the ppl who HAVE donated that much , but something would be nice =)
  • Yami Vizzini
The new series sounds cool if you're sure you have the time.

This is the kick I needed to finally sign up with Kickstarter (or however it works)- and that was before I saw the link & subject matter therein!
  • Minion of Yahtzee  - Sounds good Kyle

I think that a retrospective look at these weird films as yourself (Or Oan? eh either way) sounds good. Now that you are older and wiser you can look back on the films that gave us all lots of laughs and see weather they are still insane or if we can get even more insight form them. Oh who am I kidding I just want to watch you see Ken Park and the Pig fucking movie again. But still sounds good and good luck with your Masters Degree.

I honestly didn't know you were a college student. I think your character and beard made me think of you as older. Anyway, congrats and good luck on graduating. I am so depressed because this reminds me how a great majority of my friends are also graduating. :( Anyway, I'll donate a bit of money in March since I don't start working till next month. As for your new show, I'd watch it. Sounds interesting. Also, I honestly really want to see you watch the pig-fucking movie again. XD
  • Sergeant343  - Sounds good to me
    avatar
I think that would be a good idea for a side series. Also when you do finish the film would there be anyway for us to watch us it?
  • cubs2084

I would watch this side series idea of yours.
  • Kurodius  - Kickstarter done in nine hours
It has been about nine hours since the posting of this video. I have clicked the link to the kickstarter and it is now at $9335/$9000.

Oancitizen, you may now wallow in your internet celebrity.
  • Gethenian
    avatar
Actually, technically the goal of $9000 was met about 27-28 hours after the campaign was launched.

9 hours after it was launched -- and I remember this VERY distinctly -- it had raised $700 more than I've made hauling seed for the past 8-9 MONTHS.

    Lessons to take from this:
    1. Kyle is a fuckin' BOSS.
    2. Having a normal job is bullshit.
  • Vismutti

    1. True
    2. Unfortunately true.
  • NapoleonX
I like the idea that you have for the series during the Spring
Good luck on finishing your degree. And actually I don't think we'd mind if you uploaded the thesis film on this site. I know I'd love to see it!
  • Catbanshee

re watching sounds like a great idea, though probably not for ALL of the movies. I DEFINITELY suggest you rewatch "We Are The Strange" because honestly you just didn't get that one and there is so much more to it than you were able to see and acknowledge. I even did a review on it BECAUSE you didn't get it. http://blip.tv/ catbanshee/we-are-the- strange-and-why-it-does- make-sense-6312684 I think if you see it again it'll make more sense to you (especially if you see my review as well)
  • Redrally
I'm not sure I support you re-watching the movies covered on Brows Held High, only because if you force yourself to re-watch all of them, you'd have to live through such unpleasant experiences as A Serbian Film and Trash Humpers again. I don't think I'd be happy forcing you re-watching those.
  • Trogdor
    avatar
If you feel the need to ask us whether it's a good idea, I think you already know the answer.
  • Mousy Voice

In regards toward your idea for the side series, I honestly have mixed feelings about it. The down side is that you're essentially reviewing what you've already reviewed and it might come across as a cop out. But, on the plus side, I can't say I've seen other reviewers do that, so perhaps it could be done if you kept it as a short miniseries and could come up with some new material.
  • Flanagan
    avatar
    Good luck man!
  • Captain Siberia
Do the series, dude. You'll have something to talk about. It'll be interesting.

But are you going to revisit ALL 50 films? Even...
  • Professor Persona  - Yay! Graduation!
    avatar
Graduation is always great, but it takes a lot of effort. I know-I recently graduated myself! I'm glad you're focusing on your education, and I earnestly look forward to your return to a schedule for the show. As for the new show idea, I would love to see that.

Well, not much more to say except good luck and remember to take a little time now and then for entertainment so you don't burn out.
  • asiepshtain  - I send you my contribution and my thanks.
    Mr. Kyle Kallgren.

You do not know who I am, We have never met, Nor do I belive we will ever meet. Yet I consider myself in your debt, And with great happiness I take this chance to repay in a very small way. And I am very pleased to see that I am not alone in this feeling, As it seems your movie will be funded and then some.

Be assured thou that I am still deeply in your debt. For learning and lauging and occasionly tearing up, For seeing visuals and inspiration from works I would not have seen but for your introduction of them.

And most of all for your review of 'Angels in America', It is most beautiful. If I can make one small request it would be this, That you review more works that have impacted you as this one did, so we can share in your inspiration and grace.

I thank you and happily and gratefully submit what little I can to help you fund your movie. Can't wait to see Brad Jones rip it to shreds.

i just checked your kick starter and unless my drunken math is wrong you are at $10,615 of your $9,000 and that's a good $1,00+more then you needed and that's great! I will also STILL be backing at LEAST $10 just to show my support
  • youjik33
I'm really glad your kickstarter went so well. I have to wait until I get my tax return to go to the dentist, I really shouldn't be pledging money to anyone XD

I definitely wouldn't mind a side series where you talk about stuff again, because I love listening to you talk! I hope school goes smoothly for you. I definitely appreciate you giving us all a heads up on your current slow output. I don't mind waiting so long as I know there IS more coming = )

Baw, I wanted to donate too... but I've had trouble with Kickstarter.com before so I don't know if I'll be able to...
