This review just made my day. True, it might be a disturbed day...but a good day none the less. Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to go make my friends tea, sip on some milk, and contemplate plowing the fields...

Seriously, though, I don't know how you make every one of your reviews so entertaining. Keep it up, we're all loving it.

It's that VAGINA MOVIE! I hate this movie and could not get to the end of it.

Dang stupid French Vagina movie needs to be harshly criticised because it's so TERRIBLE. URG.
  • keniakittykat
    avatar
Funny, at school we called this the 'vagina movie' as well.
Yeah, we had to watch this duting class... European art school is fucked up.
  • Eric76ss
I like that the intro of your show tips it's hat to François Truffaut's "Les Quatre cent coups" maybe you could do a positive review of that for a change, unless the reason you included it is that you despise Truffaut, in which case good god you are a bad person :P
  • Dakota The Mad  - Rocco's Pronunciation
    avatar
Is that how you pronounce his name? Like "Rocko's Modern Life" or like how you say CR!'s last name?
  • Sockpuppet
    avatar
That's how they pronounce it in his movies-- And he "plays himself" in everything I've ever seen him in. By the way, I seriously resent HIM representing "all men", because he's an incredibly misogynistic douchebag (yes, for a PORN STAR, saying a lot, there.) He's my least favorite male porn star, along with a guy who works with him a lot, Luciano, who acts the same way.

T_T im a woman and i hate the period blood scenes so much i guess im a woman hating stupid guy!!
    Seriously lady.....wow

Anyway why both in anti-christ and this that both the women died...as in the first one was about how women where evil i guess and this one how men were evil yet.....the woman dies
Also i felt like she wanted to be rejected by the man so she picked a gay man.
She wanted confirmation on her self hate and loathing that she picked the man who hate her the most -in her sick mind- in the end she wanted to die..

Eh the period thing almost made me throw up

Also i forgot to say great review =D
Sorry about the images you had to see XD

Also this movie like the anti-christ was just self hatred pure and simple
  • ladydiskette  - Good review Oan.
    avatar
I am with you Moomoof, even as a woman myself, I cannot stand periods. To the point that I would agree with anyone who points out the theological theory that the period was part of "Eve's curse" for eating the forbidden fruit with Adam.

Which does make it think that the period and the camera cutting to the crucifix was indeed a sort of symbolic asking for forgiveness that the man had been having sex with men instead of with women as the bible claims is appropiate. So maybe he is "baptizing" himself in a woman's menstrual blood to return back to Christ?

Just my interpretation of the scene.

As for the tampoon scene....I.....I basically had to turn away from the computer screen at that point so I have nothing. DX
  • Moomoof
    avatar
Yea i felt like it was about the "curse" being about adam and eve.
I don't get is ...is she blaming men for our periods...or god ...or i don't know i was almost vomiting at this point.

After the tampoon scene thank god kyle didn't know the bed covered in blood.

Wait could her bleeding on everything mean ...that the act of sex with a man is murder or ...whatever! gah! this movie is so hateful
  • ladydiskette
    avatar
Yeah, now that I think about it. The guy was gay, and having sex with the woman on her period with her blood on the bedsheets is kinda resembling to that of the broken hymen when a virgin has sex for the first time. Well, a virgin woman I should say.

Basically giving not only the gay man the first time experience having sex with a woman, but the physical evidence to himself that he did have sex with a woman instead of usually with a man. Thus gaining him a sort of momentary feeling of heterosexuality that he never had before. Whether he wanted it or not is left to be debated however.

But when she burnt the bedsheets, she also burnt the evidence of his first heterosexual experience and maybe felt upset that she took it away from him. Thus making him punish her by throwing her into the sea.

Why does the woman die and not the man in the "Men are evil" movie? I'd venture its because it reenforces the brutality of men and the victimization of women at the hands of men at the heart of the narrative.
  • Fiang
I think in this film the woman dying served only to make men appear that much more evil. In Antichrist, She (intentionally capitalized) died as punishment for her evil, thus bringing home the fact that 'women are evil' in case you didn't get it earlier in the movie. I think. Don't hold me to that, lol.

The funny thing about the woman's death in this film, though, is that it also almost comes off as self pity. She's not just saying 'men are evil'. That's probably just an excuse. In reality, for some reason, she hates herself. She probably likes her sex, but hates her gender (and yes, they are two separate things). Since she can't find an easy enough reason to explain WHY she hates her gender, she just comes out and says, "I hate being a woman because men hate women. Men think women are evil and so now I think I'm evil." And she probably picked the gay man to to make things easier in the long run. Just to prove her point.

It would be harder to argue in other words that a straight man could hate a woman as much as a gay man could. And that's just me guessing. I don't agree with this woman if that's the case, because she's being sexist not only towards men in general, but to her own gender as well. She's all kinds of sexist.

This was the first review of yours I saw on the forum. It is what originally made me a fan of your show.

This is a horrible movie. The symbolism like in so many so called "art films" means nothing, absolutely fucking nothing. It is nothing but a horrible movie made by a horrible and possible militantly disturbed person.

If this movies wasn't called an "art film" it would be considered pornography even child pornography.
  • littlelili
This isn't pornography because it's not meant to arouse you. Porn is meant to give people some sort of sexual reaction thus this movie is not pornographic since that is not the reason behind it.
  • ohe
    avatar
That's idiotic. You're actually condoning the line of thought that porn stops being porn solely because somebody says it's supposed to be art. Because there's absolutely no way until definite mind-reading capacity is invented to prove whether or not the creator meant one thing or other.

Unless you're a bigot and rule out the artistic uses of getting people aroused completely. That way you can just say that if it arouses anybody even by accident it's "porn" and nothing else.

Or unless you're a zealot and rule out the artistic uses of pretty much any emotion ever.

When you have both concepts of porn and art as indefinite abstracts that are defined only in comparison to each other, you end up without any definition for either.
  • PsychopathUltimate
    avatar
You can tell whether or not it was intended as art or porn by the material's structure; that's part of what merits the job of a critic, studying the subject material and objectively determining the sincerity of the claims made about the film by it's authors against the grind of what they actually conveyed in the film.

Note how dissecting the honesty of the film maker is held in regard as being crucial of structuring Oancitizen's critique, the reason being is that self expression is regarded as a crucial 'make it or break it' attribute in art.

If you're skeptical about my claim, watch Brows Held High; Episode #31; The Doom Generation.
  • keniakittykat
    avatar
This isn't a porno, at all, like littlelili said.
If this movie is anything, it's an anti-porn.
  • Lone Wolf
    avatar
Porn is porn regardless of intentions. This is porn; its nothing but gratuitous sex, gratuitous rape, a gratuitous necked CHILD! This is not an art film, it has no real symbolism, It only gets a pass because it's called an "art film". You exemplify my comment in reply to kshade.
This is not art, this is porn, porn made by a mentally disturbed living straw-feminist stereotype.

If you want a disturbing art film there are plenty available but this but this is (like what so many so called "art films" are) not art and only gets away with being what it really is because it is called art.

Although I winced at her dipping the tampon like a tea bag, this movie just made me roll my eyes. It's women like her (and movies like this) that make feminists like me not want to claim the title just from the sheer stupidity of 'auteurs' like Brillate.

As for Kshade...if you don't like the material that Oancitizen watches, don't watch his reviews. Just because you don't care for it doesn't mean it should automatically be censored. Different cultures have different taboo levels.
  • Moomoof
    avatar
Yea for the most part this movie made me roll my eyes in how childish it was being if that makes sense
  • soulalcatraz

As a woman, I actually felt strangely offended by this movie. Maybe because while she unfairly portrays Men as being lustful, violent idiots that we should "throw rocks at," she also unfairly portrays Women as martyrs who let themselves be victimized and revel in the dichotomy of our snatches being both objects of desire and disgust. Heeheehee "snatches."

And beyond all that, I can't help but feel like this was shocking just to be shocking. Sometimes NOT showing something is way more powerful, lady.

Anyhoo great review Kyle, I laughed particularly hard at you calling your mom a bleeding harpy.

Animal cruelty laws in film differs from country to country and there isn't a set law globally.
    Sodomy?
Are you a prude or something, so please grow up.

It is not child porn if it is not performed by children.
  • fitandhappy  - Research hoooo!
I've had a look around and it seems most likely the animal cruelty scene is faked, whilst you can show real animal death in films screened and sold in the UK, the BBFC do flag it up in their on-line classifications. This film was passed without cuts at 18, and the explanation contains no reference to animal cruelty (or child pornography, which would be illegal if it were real so wouldn't be in an uncut film at all).

The sodomy thing as you correctly point out, is a non issue.
  • DiamandaHagan
    avatar
You can also show footage of real people being killed according to the BBFC. I have a copy of the UK release of 'Executions' (an anti death penalty documentary entirely made up on people being executed). Its a very powerful film.
  • kshade
    avatar
I'm sorry, I used the wrong word (English is my second language and "sodomy" is a "false friend"). What I meant was bestiality, not gay sex.

As for the other points, I don't care about the legal status of animal cruelty or if it was okay to do by law. I just think it shouldn't be. The scene with the kid seemed to be just that.
  • dennett316
    avatar
If the censored shot is anything to go by, they showed a shot of a young girl's vagina. Doubt it was real - at least I hope not - but if you had an image like that on your computer, you would be prosecuted for possessing child porn.
Porn isn't just the actual act of sex being filmed, it's also static images in magazines and websites etc. So yeah, child porn.
  • littlelili

  • PsychopathUltimate

It was the second episode of his show, so as of the time he posted this on TGWTG.com it's two years, five months & five days old.

Although I will concede that it is a smart idea to dump all of his old episodes onto the site to fill in his time slots while he develops a myriad of new episodes, if that is his objective and releasing old episodes isn't merely a result of him being lazy and falling behind schedule, it's straining that he doesn't release them in their actual chronological order as opposed to what he does do; uploading them when and where he'd think they'd do well against the grind of the other critics currently posting.

Most of the other critics have done this too, but their exercise of this method has been long over with as they ran out of old episodes to run years ago.

Next you'll see him post his review of the H.P. Lovecraft film adaptation "Dreams in the Witch House". It'll turn up sooner or later, just watch.

Maybe it's just me, but that period scene reminded me I got half a jar of spaghetti sauce in my fridge. If I had some garlic bread I could eat it with that, but I don't. I guess I could just eat the sauce but that's kind of weird.

Eventhough I haven't seen the episodes that weren't put up on tgwtg yet I'm still a bit disappointed in there not being a new episode. Not only do I like the newer stuff better, it also seems kind of sadistic to make us wait a couple of weeks for an old episode. At the very least upload your old stuff weekly and bring out a short video explaining why you're not bringing out any new stuff...

    Review was nice though.
  • spins3  - Girl! I wanna take you to a gay bar
For about a year the only bar my wife and I could go to was a gay bar (looooong story). Yes they have female bathrooms, as there are gay females. Principally, we saw four kinds of people at the gay bar (in order of frequency):
    -Gay men
-Typically straight women who don't want to constantly get hit on (some of whom are occasionally bisexual)
    -Gay women
-Clever straight guys who knew that the above "escapist" women would be very easy to pick up

No, I was not one of the last group, I was married. Still, an idea for you fellas out there. That was in a small town, so everyone was in one bar (no separate lesbian bar for example). Now that I live in a bigger city, I've been to a few gay bars (either with gay friends, or with my wife out of nostalgia for our old hangout) where I only saw men, but I'm sure there is at least a little bit of that dynamic going on if you stayed long enough or tried another bar. But yeah, even at those, always a ladies room, and always at least a couple of ladies on hand (friends who came along or whatever at the very least).

You really thought that was a real bird, no it was a fake one, convincing wasn't it.

That movie was simply disgusting. The part where she soaked a used tampon in a glass of water which he then drank almost made me hurl. The joke that followed it up made it even worse.
Other than that, i still somewhat enjoyed the review.

Also, Oancitizen, you should take a look at Fantastic Planet (AKA La Planète Sauvage) sometime. It's a very trippy sci-fi animated film that comes close to arthouse. Its animation has a Terry Gilliam-ish style to it and whilst it has something resembling a coherent plot, a lot of weird stuff happens and you'll start doubting whether you're on any drugs.
