    fun review! all content considered...

This movie sounds pretty interesting, but it also sounds like the time stopping concept was not used to its full potential. I would have liked to find out that the movie ends with time stuck at 3:14 forever and the guy just having to live with it for the rest of his life.

So Im guessing no references to Dr. Who or BTTF?

Holy shit, Lupa's cat voice XD Bwahahaha

What gave it away? Was it the "Eeeeeeeeeh!" XD

Did anyone else think it sounded like Lupa doing Ash doing an impression of Morgan Freeman from Shawshank?

Great use of Lupa’s cat voice. This is precisely the kind of self-aware indie movie that gives me hives but kudos to you for giving someone a second chance.

I haven't seen a film like this in a while. Something a little hipsterish, but full of lessons to convey. I' now interested in this.

    Good review, sir.

Yeah, the cat voice... Well, she probably couldn't afford to hire Danny John-Jules.

I want to like this woman and her films, and I do appreciate certain parts of them but I can't watch them more than once. I'm a little surprised that you got roasted in the comments for Me and You as I never felt that your review was actually mean spirited. Acerbic perhaps but not actually cruel.

I kind of enjoyed Me and You and Everyone We Know. Even with it's odd quirky moments. But, the Future just seems a little too out there for me. Perhaps quirky without the charm. But, yay for Beach House music!
  • Viewer  - Did you just...!?
Did you just apologize to hipsters for having an opinion!?
Wow Oan... You betrayed me! You're not good. You, you're just a chicken. Chip-chip-chip-chip- cheep-cheep.

I apologized to hipsters for *not thinking my opinion through.*

I'm sorry that you mistake my personal growth for cowardice.

I think he really just wanted to make the Room reference.

Slamming a reviewer for having a negative opinion of you is really growth, isn't it?

No, really. At least, for you. Most reviewers seem to have a problem thinking too highly of themselves. You, on the other hand, seem to hard on yourself. This is the first time I've seen someone criticize you and you don't act like they must be right. You're actually standing up for yourself and your opinions.

As I told Lindsay, I have no problem with reviewers having problems with their own works. But don't change things because your fans tell you to. And, honestly, that's what it seems like you do.

I haven't seen The Future yet but I did saw Me and You and Everyone We Know and found it interesting if a bit on the pretentious side. Looking at Kyle's review one part of my brain was saying "We'll this could be considered the new face of underground avant garde like Alejandro Jodorowsky was in the 70s" while the other lobe was screaming "THIS IS HIPSTER CRAP!" Nevertheless I'll to see it one of these days. One must cherrish every spark of creativity (?) in these culturally void times when smut like 50 Shades of Gray is a best seller.

    And Lupa...God God,woman...dat voice. :D
  • wwitzke
Thank you for reviewing this. I hated this movie to my very core because I couldn't stop wanting to beat the ever-loving crap out of the characters. I thought perhaps they were made despicable on purpose and your confirmation that they were indeed written to be immature was somehow very cathartic.

I'll keep the 2 comments that pissed me off to myself - because I'm dying to make this joke. The very fact that they call a cat Paw Paw shows me they're not ready.
Also, would the Mystery Men reference have killed you?
  • timotaka
So this movie acknowledges the fact that adults acting like irresponsible teenagers has consequences. That puts it a notch above American Beauty in my book.

This is the second BHH to remind of a Mighty Boosh character. Last time it was The Hitcher and now The moon. Weird.

I had a chance to go see this for free when it came out at my local sort-of-alternative film cinema, but I missed it.
I would definitely have gone, though, if Lupa was the voice of the cat. That was hilarious.
  • _cG
I'm weirdly hung up on this: all I could think about during the "arguing with the moon" segment was Buzz Aldrin and Tina Fey yelling at the moon in a 2010 episode of "30 Rock," and Neil Armstrong telling the moon it had ruined his life in an SNL sketch from 2000 called "Neil Armstrong: The Ohio Years."

It would've been hilarious had Lupa don't this with her Radu accent XD
  • TooMuchFreeTime
Does a cat with a broken foot really need to spend the entire time at the vet? Wouldn't the cast be enough?

Also, this kinda messed me up just now, made me remember what it looks like when the life leaves a cat's eye after the shot...she was already so tired...

Man that cat....this is why I prefer dogs. But wuv Lupa's Paw Paw voice. ;3
  • TexasDude
"Shut up Oan! Buy Ash a gift, for he is a Cwismiss Miwacle."

But wow, can't believe they went after you on Me and You and Everyone we know. I rather liked your video there, and this one is just as good. Miranda July's style of movie just doesn't really appeal to me. It comes off as pretentious, stylized to a certain audience, yet in all that I do see some unique story and character development, which you showed me is quite the improvement over Me and You.

Sure it has it's audiences, they can be diehard when it comes to it, but it's exactly what Hipsters like, Underground.

You aren't shallow Oan, I see your work as quite inspiring and thought provoking, philosophical at many points....also Hilarious.

I hadn't seen the other review before and just checked it after this one. I honestly don't think you were too mean towards it and I felt that you gave it actually a rather decent review. Still, it's nice to find out more about your views in the sequel review.

The actual "cat voice" sounds like something from Salad Fingers. That Canut story reminds me of how North Carolina made it illegal for the sea level to rise. Good luck with that.

I was really hoping for a clip of Noel Fielding's The Moon character from The Mighty Boosh in there. Oh well, still entertaining as always!

Lupa's cat voice for the win!

What's weird is that even with Lupa's cat voice the bit where the cat is protesting that it's theirs kind of got to me.
  • Tactlesscat
    avatar
...You know that cat's narration and gestures make me think its drawing inspiration from Morgan Freeman.

Which would have been a much more hilarious cat voice.
  • Bloodrealm
Yeah, but then the cat would've started talking about penguins, and... Holy crap, the cat turned into God at the end! It WAS Morgan Freeman! Oh, man, Jim Carrey is gonna get some serious superpowers!
