Uh, 'cause that's what they paid him to do, remember?

But anyway, I'm glad to see two of my favorite producers finally do a crossover. Also glad to see they went with something comic-book related, rather than the other, obvious connection.

Also, who the hell was "Fire" suppose to be based on? What with the bad green costume, the bad green makeup (as you guys point out), and the completely forgettable performance, I get absolutely no familiarity vibes out of her.

Wait, what's that? Her real name is Green Flame? And she has a hero-partnership with the blonde nerd girl, who's real name is Icemaiden? And their comic is far more interesting than this misguided pilot could ever hope to be?

    ...this movie is awful.
  • Schizoid
    avatar
Actually, Fire is her current name. She started as "Green Fury", then became "Green Flame" and then became "Fire" (thanks Wiki!). Ice is based on "Ice", a different character than "Icemaiden" though completely similar.

I just love the expressions Linkara makes in this video, actually, I love his little "creeper smile" he puts on, there is something about it that always gives me a good shiver. Sure its possibly nightmare fuel for some people to look at, but the way I see it he wouldn't hurt a fly.

    Would he? 0.0

    Great review you two. :)

It's like some alternate DC universe where The Justice League of America is more like The Justice League of The Real World. And just as badly scripted.

I'll always have my Justice League Unlimited to to soothe my woes.

Oh sweet Jesus this was painful. Thank you, Lewis and Nash, for making this pile of puke easier to handle.

Linkara and Nash make everything better! :D

    LIMBO!!

Also Linkara, you don't need the hammer! You have your magic gun! :D

Well, at least this film is better than Inspector Gadget! :D

Sweet Chinchilla Jesus, I remember borrowing the tape of this from work when I was interning at Wizard magazine. o__o

Poor David Ogden Stiers. You could have done so much better than this movie.

(Yes, I know, everyone hates Wizard, I get it. But it was an opportunity and it was actually pretty neat to work there...despite the 5-hour commute.)

    Honestly forgot this thing existed.

Well, actually it was physiological trauma. repressed memory and all that.

You bastards are getting the bill...

It's weird how pretty much any Justice League incarnation seems to have a completely random line-up. I'm not entirely sure if Fire is an actual comic character. Better take a quick look. Well yes, she's real, and apparently the other lady is Ice. Seems a bit obscure, but maybe it's just a matter of it being hard to find a superheroine who isn't either Wonderwoman or a distaff counterpart. Or maybe I'm just ignorant of some really really important character.

The effects are not the worst I've seen, but the costumes...eugh. If the X-men movie did anything right it was changing costumes with the transition between media.
  • Kymba_Scion
The line up really isn't that Random. The line up is about 80% 'Justice League International', a pretty popular series in 80's for its mix of action and comedy. Martian Manhunter, Guy Garder, Fire, and Ice were all main stays in the JLI book, only ones missing were Blue Beetle and Booster gold, who got replaced by Flash and Atom for some reason. But yeah, all them were a part of some version of the Justice League at some point.

I could never get through this whole movie. I hated it. But I loved this review. It was hilarious. I laughed out loud a few times.

This just goes to show that network television should never attempt to make superhero programs. Cartoons are the only way they work unfortunately.

What a crappy superhero TV movie. But I guess that's to be expected.

Can I ask why it was that he wasn't wearing a mask while in front of the camera, but the Weather man found it easier to insert it using effects? No one else questioned this? He wasn't actually wearing the bandana and sunglasses when he was caught.

And was this supposed to be the start of a TV series? Cause, they never explained the green glowing hand or the twin of the Weather man (or did I just miss something?).
  • BooRat
    avatar
Yes, it was suppose to be a pilot to an unproduced series! They explained it off screne that was Martain Manhunter. His only powers in this series was shapeshifting and nothing else from what I've read about it.
  • Kymba_Scion
I do believe that that was meant to be Martian Manhunter, who is a shape shifter. He likely changed into Dr. Eno to gather intel.

"Hey Steve, Barry Allen is an Italian asshole, right?"

    "Yeah, and Fire is black!"

Mmmm, I'd stalk Starfire...wait, forget that.

How do you have a Justice League movie and not even acknowledge Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman? stupid, stupid movie!!!

At the time this was released, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman were not members of the JLA.

Fun fact: Miguel Ferrer also voiced the Weather Wizard in the DCAU. Apparently Bruce Timm has seen this movie as well.

He played Weather wizard in Superman The Animated series to be exact. The Flash guest starred in that episode.

Wow. I think this was the best written crossover I've seen on this site. Both of you were 100% in character, and the framing story worked. Nash's attention to detail is refreshing. (Surely he did the editing.)

As for the movie: Couldn't they even get the costumes right? I mean, even the Flash was overweight.

And guy no longer right above me (LevelUpLeo): definitely a pilot. A made for TV movie about the Justice League? Why would DC do that?

The foppy-haired boy in Atom's class is Dick Grayson, I know because he calls on him by name.

Wow that was a better TV use of the character than the planned but never produce Graysons TV drama about his lfe with his parents before they died.

WOW, that was totally terrible, but for some reason i prefer that Ray Palmer over his Cry for Justice appereance

I knew about this show for years but haven't gotten a chance to watch it. For some weird reason there weird tons of tv movie like this, that just died out in the last decade which is a shame with the new technology you could do a lot with a little bid of money.

Finally, not one, but 2 producers on the site has reviewed this piece of unjusticed crap.

I also can't believe that "Green Lantern" bombed. I already saw it twice (once in 3-D), and I still think it's pretty good.

I already lost hope for this movie since the end of the opening title sequence.

    5:10- Worst. Supervillain costume. EVER.

Guy Gardner in this film looks like Kyle Rayner, who was the only Green Lanters in the DC Universe at the time this film was made.

10:59- Why do I get the feeling that this film pilot for a TV series was originally written as a sitcom?
15:50- ...And that question turns out to be true.

14:43- Thank god Carrol Ferris in the movie isn't stupid.

I heard this thing sucks, but I didn't think it would suck this hard.

Thank god I have the complete Justice League animated series on DVD (This includes "Unlimited).

This review was hysterical, I especially liked Linkara's creepy stare and Nash's employment of a hammer to make him accept what was going on.

I am surprised though, given that you are both fans of Doctor Who that when you were trying to persuade Nash to watch the video that you didn't do a "I am the Master, you will obey me" bit, but then again perhaps that is just where my brain when, it was both creepy and hysterical as is.

Linkara & Nash DID A AWESOME JOB ON THIS VIDEO. GREAT WORK GUYS! KEEP AT IT! I got a set of KICKASS GREEN LANTERN COMICS RECENTLY! SINSTRO CORPS WAR PARTS 1 & 2, WANTED: HAL JORDAN & EVEN TALES OF SINSTRO CORPS & NOT TO MENTION THE POWER RINGS FROM ALL THE LANTERN CORPS & A BONUS GREEN LANTERN RING THAT'S BASED OF THE ONE IN THE GREEN LANTERN MOVIE THAT BOMBED IN THE BOX OFFICE RECENTLY! YAY ME!

Wow, the real Guy Gardner would have socked that guy in the solar plexus then made out with his date. And I still would prefer him.

And I recognize pretty much everyone in this thing. Ice was on Son Of The Beach, and Fire was on L&O: SVU (first season). Even "Guy Gardner's" date there was on Clueless and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Okay so most of my recollection is focused on the women...

...Does this make me sadder than Nash's triggering of Continuity Alarm?
  • SamuraiLloyd

That was a pretty awesome crossover review. I had no idea that there was a 1997 JLA movie... and i can see why i never saw it.
  • Iceholder  - FISH.
    Excellent cross-over.

Heh, you can tell how crappy the budget was VERY easily for this movie. That, or the people making it took everything they could, leaving very little for making it.

While I do agree with the others who said they should have used bigger name JLA characters, I also think that they used the ones they did, because they were recognizable names that they could AFFORD. People like Batman and Superman probably would have cost them quite a bit.

Yeah. No matter how hard you get hammered, Nash, nothing will make this movie make sense.
Much less Adam doing the limbo under a laser.

DC and WB own all these characters the only one they'd may have had trouble with copyrights with would be Superman and that was sort of because DC stole/screwed the creators out of the rights back in the 40s and thier families have been fighting for the rights for years. actually nly a couple years back did DC reliquish some of the rights to the families and give them like a couple million dollars for backpay.

I am assuming they knew what they were doing and did relatively good job with it. Breaking conventionalities by mixing action with real-life drama and light, self-aware humor. Too bad that their good job was relative to their small, small budget of twenty bucks and a car ride to walmart.

That was unexpected crossover. Also was that blond woman supposed to be Ice? But Ice is supposed to be princess of the norwegian ice people.
  • Sagetim
But she is the princess of the norweigan ice people. She was just kidnapped as a child and forced to be normal for so long that only the trauma of some kind of random sciencemabob could possibly unlock her latent natural super powers. Not her memories though, those were safely medicated away in the early 90's.
