Wait, at the end the pig is cooking a barbecue... a barbecue that has sausages on it? And the pig doesn't see anything wrong with that? Nothing rather morbid and cannibalistic about cooking a food product made from the flesh of your own species? Not to mention other food producs made from the flesh of some of the other animals species there.

Of course we do Mike, that was the only part of Zombieland WORTH remembering.
I hate it when CGI animals make facial expressions & move their lips; it makes them look 3 times as fake. Would it really have killed them to just get a REAL fat orange tabby?
Dammit Tim, why do you always whore yourself out to horrible movies you can't save? Only Vincent Price could get away with that & keep his dignity intact.

Mike, you're the best! I've been watching your stuff ever since you started at TGWTG, and it's all BRILLIANT. I think you're pretty unique on this site, and whenever you release a new review it's a nice break from the more America-centric and/or animu stuff. Don't ever change.
Also looking forward to Nerd Quest!

Actually, that's not a mace. That's a flail with a morning star ball and chain... very common in Castlevania games (although usually with an very extended chain whip).
The thing about Garfield is that it worked as a comic strip and also as a cartoon series. A live action movie could have worked had someone actually given a damn to treat Jim Davis' creation with respect. Thank God that Charles Schultz made it clear that Peanuts were not to be continued after his death! Still... I'm such a sucker for Johnny Hart that I'd probably go out and see a B.C. movie.
Unfortunately... I'd have to say that most Americans don't know what a real castle is supposed to look like (including myself). We have a show on TV called American Castles for fuck's sake, so we couldn't possibly be bothered. I am however severely tired of seeing the "try to make the guard change expression" joke. It was tired when Austin Powers did it 13-15 years ago.

I watched the first movie when it came out on video, and I don't remember anything about it nowadays. I was tempted to watch the second when I found it's DVD with my brother , but I skipped it for some reason, and now I'm glad I did. :)
Regarding Nerd Quest: Happy Harry will be in it? now, you got my attention! :D

02.18.2012 - 09:39 | TLHoboYou can have something called 'Castle' and it not be the kind of fortified building you'd generally think of as a castle.
But what I really wanted to come in here and say was the mid-roll advert joke was fantastic. I haven't see it used in quite that way before.

"You can have something called 'Castle' and it not be the kind of fortified building you'd generally think of as a castle."
Well, no. That's what a castle is; a medieval fortification that was usually also the residence of some member of the nobility. You can call something a castle that's not really a castle, but even buildings that try to pass themselves off as pseudo-castles have decorative architectural trimmings that try to pass themselves off as a medieval fortress's ramparts & rounded towers. To call the estate in this movie a castle is very much like calling a cruise liner a battleship.

I remember reading that Bill Murray confused the director of Garfield with another that had a very similar name and a much better resume, which is why he accepted the job. I can't find said piece of information again, sadly. It does explain a lot, though.
I've always hated the way these things looked. It's like a horrific collision of animation and live-action. Sort of like if Roger Rabbit was CG. And terrible. And was inspired by a bad drug trip. And was terrible.
-
Bill accepted the role after hearing that the script was written by Joel Cohen (who also wrote Cheaper By The Dozen, Daddy Day Camp and Evan Almighty. That should tell you all you need to know)
But...
Murray thought it was the Joel Coen of Coen Brothers fame! Can you imagine the Coens doing a Garfield movie? (as cool as that sounds)

26 miles to Carlisle? from London?... The fuck? Carlisle is in Cumbria, in the North West, closer to Scotland or Belfast than it is London. To those that don't know British geography Carlisle is about a 5 hour drive away from London at the very least... So... Why'o why would they be staying in London? Any of them? It's at the other side of the map!!!
The place has its own Airport for crying out loud.
This would be like getting invited to Ohio but staying in New York...
Also, I'm pretty sure there's a part in this movie where it implies that we don't have lasagne (or however you spell it) in England...
Though to be fair Carlisle Castle does exist... it looks like this: http://www.marie- stuart.co.uk/images/ England/Carlisle.jpg
Ga'h... that is headache inducing. Yeah I didn't like the film. Even for a kids movie none of it made sense.

Yeah I admit it I saw it too, but it was while I was channel surfing one day. Still, MikeJ has a point, why is it they can CGI Garfield as he was in the comics and Cartoon show, but they can't make Odie look like...well.....Odie the dog from both the comics and Cartoon show?
Having Odie as a normal dog in the first movie kinda turned me off to it from the start.
