08.10.2011 - 22:54 | KNIGHTMAREMANIACI found this review to be very poorly researched. I love the cameos, and Film Brain is always fun, but this review is just poor. The movie is yes, shit, but they didn't even do there homework on some of this. The Oracle didn't die of smoking, the Frenchman got her kill code and yes, killed her. The Trainman even states that the station is his creation and here he is god, making him stronger than Neo as he is technically not in the matrix.
Other than that, funny and well made. Just do some more research next time guys.

Good to see a continuation of MikeJ and Film Brain's truce after Operation BED, even if it is in Mike's head. Gotta say though, I'm completely at a loss as to how the Sock is going to work its way into all of this. But I'm really looking forward to it!
As far as my opinion goes on this movie though, by the time I saw it in theaters I was pretty much over the whole thing, even having seen Animatrix and played Enter the Matrix beforehand. While the first movie was moderately confusing they did a good job of using wordy explanations and still making sense, which I really didn't feel in the sequels. It's like they were just being overly wordy for the sake of it

I've never seen these vids and will be checking out more in the future.

08.10.2011 - 23:58 | pieman32I dug all three matrix movies. Of course, there are diminishing returns as you go, but they were enjoyable none the less. After watching the documentary, return to the source, these movies became infinitely more interesting and it made me respect the non Hollywood ending of the third one.
This is simply my opinion guys.

Man I hate to play Devil's advocate again (Ive been doing that allot lately) but as another poster pointed out the Trainman was consistant. The Train station was his own personal creation not the Matrix per say. Im not even too sure where you got the smoking info.
Funny review either way looking forward to the next chapter.

08.11.2011 - 00:08 | pieman32The reason he could beat up neo is because he built the train station and in it he is god. This isnt the matrix, so neo cant do shit to him cause he doesnt have any powers in the train station. only in the matrix does he have his powers. Im really disappointed that you guys didnt pay enough
attention to a detail like that. How can i take this review seriously, when you cant get that simple fact down.

Funny, but quite a few mistakes guys:
The Oracle was killed by the Frenchman. This was reviled in two different scenes, though subtlety
The transfer program isn’t in the Matrix and it’s a program the Trainman wrote, there’s no reason Neo should be stronger. “I here I‘m god” said the Trainman
Actually that’s exactly what their like, it’s all a game to them.
Smith indicated that he hated the Matrix “Once Zion is gone there is no longer a reason for me to be here” he says in the first film, you can interpret this as wanting to be reassigned, but given that in the third movie it is established that programs without a purpose get deleted, that’s strong evidence for smith being suicidal, add to that his erratic behavior in the following films and it becomes pretty obvious that he’s formed a nice psychosis. With a new found freedom and near limitless power and it’s not hard to see why he’d want to take over, but he never believes he is doing anything truly destructive, quite the opposite he thinks his work is progressive.
Neo never spoke to the counsel it was just a officers meeting on one of the ships
Why he can sense (see) programs is explained by the oracle earlier, it’s one of those put two and two together things
Also the dialog is not really cryptic, just flowery. In the end very little goes unexplained and that‘s mostly to give it that “Raisin in the Sun” style non-ending ending. I’m guessing it was done for comedies sake, but many of the answers to the questions you ask are just a few seconds beyond the edits. I’m actually a little surprise you‘d (Film brain) dedicate a month to ripping apart Seagal for his attempts at mindless action and yet not give this film credit for it’s attempted intellectual complexity and stylish action.
This is actually my favorite movie, I clicked on this because I don’t like the idea of living in a bubble and wanted to know why people don’t like it. Sadly with this may errors I’m still some what in the dark. I get that some (if not the majority) people don’t want their action movies getting all cerebral on them, not everyone in the west will pick up on all the eastern religious references and I‘m sure quite a few did not like the surprise the machines don‘t fall ending, but I‘ve rarely seen a film that could make me think and have pulse pounding action.

I agree, there were quite a few times I thought to myself "uhm, what? That was explained?" or "how is that a long shot/vague?"
So yeah, FB and MikeJ, this was a disappointment. At times it felt like you deliberately missunderstood the plot and/or cheap mock impressions in order to make fun of the movie.
No, I am not some crazed fanboy but I just don't see why the 3rd movie deserve this treatment. The 2nd movie was mediocre and should have been called "The Maxtrix: Intermission" or something. 1 and 3 though, good movies.
This one gets a 2/5. A very poor review but funny skits.

You won't care, but still here are my thoughts on the films:
1) Matrix - nice but unimaginative, it never did anything clever with its artificial world, but it did have good action and half-decent characters. I guess I should call it my favorite, but Reloaded had better action, and the story wasn't good here either.
2) Reloaded - it (almost) drops attempts at telling a sci-fi story (which never works anyway) and instead does a really good action in interesting locations. It's dumb, but it's also well-produced, it convinced me that the first thing we as humanity will do when we'll make virtual reality is to beat each other senseless. Is it a good movie? No. Is it entertaining? Superficially. In a lot of ways it's like Star Wars prequels, only schlockier and with less (bad) plot.
3) Revolutions - huge pacing problems, terrifyingly bad and unfocused character development (which becomes an issue because they spend time on it), almost no action building up to the final confrontation which doesn't pay off. The plot dies completely, nothing makes sense and it drags, drags, drags!

I almost fell out of the chair when FilmBrain started stripping. I'm still not sure if out of amazement, horror and/ or laughing too hard.
Also: No symbolism? In a Matrix movie? When FilmBrain can channel Symbolism continents away?
Probably saving it for the big Symbogasm in the second part...

There is an explanation for why the Train-man dose not take on Trinity and the others, its because he built the train station that Neo is in, and when he is in there he is "God" as he puts it, because in the regular Matrix he is not this strong, but still it don't make any sense why he dosent kill Neo right there and then.

One of the things I liked about the Matrix in the first movie was the fact it had at least some semblance to the real world so the fact Neo, Trinity and that lot could do such amazing things seemed fantastical. The Matrix in the last two were filled with so many super-powered freaks running and jumping everywhere It just made me question why everyone in the Matrix wasn't aware of the true nature of the place "There was another hyper kinetic Kung-Fu fight at the S&M last night and it took me ages to get home because a government agent destroyed some cars by jumping on them while chasing a man in a leather coat who was also being chased by a pair or electric ghost twins. What did you get up to on the weekend?"".

Who cares if this train station wasn't the Matrix? Neo had no problem shutting down robots in REAL LIFE - with his MIND.
Plus, the station is obviously CONNECTED to the Matrix. Wouldn't be the first time for him breaking the laws of computer science.
And if it is so easy to render the One harmless, why don't the robots create a place outside the Matrix, suck Neo into this place and kill him?

If I would care, I would now reply "Then the trains tation IS inside the Matrix - just not the one where everyone has to wear 'cool' outfits!"
But I guess arguing about the logic (or the lack thereof) of those Matrix movies is like trying to make sense out of the last 2 episodes of NGE - and this is NOT a compliment.
-
08.11.2011 - 10:31 | KNIGHTMAREMANIACYes it was you twit, the oracle said that Neo's powers extended out side the matrix because he has a connection to the machine mainframe. Thats why he is a bad ass in the matrix, none of the rules apply to him.
