05.14.2011 - 00:44 | TarlinA lot of fans suggest that the family doesn't speak Basic(English) around the Ewoks and it's just translated for our benefit. I personally think that's giving too much credit for some half assed kids movies.

Bit of trivia: Cindel has appeared in the Star Wars novels. After several years of adventures with Noa she became a journalist and even runs her own newspaper (newsgrid) called The Life Monitor. Seriously...*lol*
And Wicket became Chief of his tribe after marrying Princess Kneesa (daughter of Chief Chirpa).
And that critter that lived with Noa is called a Teek. They were an introduced species of rodent to Endor and even the Ewoks hate em.

did you know that lucas himself gave grin light for those movies? after the whole "crhitmass special" insident he made shure to have direct controll on the ewok movies, he even shot down an id to a comortiall he didn't like...
i still find the earth animals apering on those moves as the worst part.
and aperently most "magick" in the ewok stories is just the ewoks superstitius interparertations of nanutral fenomenas, the Force, and varius tricks designed to fool the gulliable.

05.14.2011 - 05:20 | Dechha1981Oh my fucking Satan. If you'll excuse me, I'm just going to check whether this movie came out before or after Spaceballs.
...No, no, never mind, this movie was released directly to video in 1985 whereas Spaceballs was released in 1987. They didn't rip-off a satire of themselves. Never mind.

to be honest: I can tolerate the prequels. It's true that they ruined alot of the star wars mythos with the midichlorians (which I don't buy at all), Jar Jar (who, lets be honest, was just really annoying), Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christiansen as Anakin, and yeah the cgi added in the originals does seem unnecessary. But, looking at all six, I see movies, not bad or horrible movies. These movies, well, they're for kids and it shows.

There's magic in like every movie or cartoon that revolves around the Ewoks. Weather gods, witches, spirits, fairies...a fucking sentient mountain. IIRC author Dan Wallace was supposed to publish an article about all these oddities and perhaps give some explanation as to how they exist in a fictional universe based mostly in science, but that got cancelled.
Anyway, it always annoyed me that they spent the whole first film trying to rescue her family only to have them all killed off at the start of the second. Kind of like when they killed off all the surviving Aliens characters in Alien 3...though not quite as upsetting.

The Star Wars Saga still remains as my #1 favorite films of all time, and if you look on IMDB, you'll see that the films in the Prequil Trilogy have above average ratings.
Honestly, MikeJ, I've heard enough of the beating of the franchise. It's been done to death already, and Star Wars still remains strong to this day.
The Ewoks are talking in this film, because of the fact that we didn't understand what the wookiees were saying in The Holiday Special.
I think magic is in these movies instead of The Force is because the prequil trilogy wasn't around yet.
It's the Battle FOR Endor, not OF.

And this proves your point how?
The Force in the original trilogy clearly wasn't "magic", it was scifi psionics.
"It's the Battle FOR Endor, not OF."
A battle FOR Endor would imply people fighting for control of the planet or the continuing existance of the planet. Neither of this applies here. It's just a skirmish in a forest.
