funny how these two Ewok movies are less known than the Christmas special. I guess since Lucas didn't try to cover it up people just forgot about them
  • ladydiskette  - Ewoks talking english?
    avatar
Well, maybe the humans taught the Ewoks how to speak in our own language-to some degree?

Or the Ewoks observed how the humans talked and picked up on it?

    Yeah...that is all I got.
  • Tarlin
A lot of fans suggest that the family doesn't speak Basic(English) around the Ewoks and it's just translated for our benefit. I personally think that's giving too much credit for some half assed kids movies.

    Oh.

    Oh man.

I remember watching this as a kid.

I also remember being under the impression that Noah was her grandfather or something, so I don't think I ever saw the whole thing. It bored me, so I would always change the channel in search of other things to watch.

lol, Film Brain is going to kick your butt when he finds out you stole his shtick. XD
  • Crunchy_Frog
@ladydiskette: *sigh* If you'd watched MikeJ's previous videos, you'd know that Mike borrowing FilmBrain's "SYMBOLISM" is a running gag. Including one time featuring a talking FilmBrain head-on-a-stick.

Wow...that little girl had the same hair I did when I was little. As for the movie, yeah I've never heard of it so I'm glad for that.

Yeah, I remember these. They occupy a really awkward space in Star Wars. It's still confusing on whether or not these movies take place before or after Return of the Jedi.

Bit of trivia: Cindel has appeared in the Star Wars novels. After several years of adventures with Noa she became a journalist and even runs her own newspaper (newsgrid) called The Life Monitor. Seriously...*lol*

And Wicket became Chief of his tribe after marrying Princess Kneesa (daughter of Chief Chirpa).

And that critter that lived with Noa is called a Teek. They were an introduced species of rodent to Endor and even the Ewoks hate em.

Awww, I wanted to be the first one to splay open my Star Wars geekdom for all to gawk at. Curse you, Dierna

    That's okay Trilaanus.
Dierna haven't mentioned how the shapechanging witch is in fact a exiled Nightsister of Dathomir yet, and thus a bona fide dark side force user, you can mentio...

    ohhh.

    I mentioned it right there?

    Didn't I?

It would have been nice if there was another ewok death scene, but they showed those lifeless eyes closing. I feel like they must have scared any poor kid who saw this mess

    Thanks for vid, Mike.

Though I can't help wondering if there was some deeper meaning in the ending there...

did you know that lucas himself gave grin light for those movies? after the whole "crhitmass special" insident he made shure to have direct controll on the ewok movies, he even shot down an id to a comortiall he didn't like...

i still find the earth animals apering on those moves as the worst part.

and aperently most "magick" in the ewok stories is just the ewoks superstitius interparertations of nanutral fenomenas, the Force, and varius tricks designed to fool the gulliable.

Oh my fucking Satan. If you'll excuse me, I'm just going to check whether this movie came out before or after Spaceballs.

...No, no, never mind, this movie was released directly to video in 1985 whereas Spaceballs was released in 1987. They didn't rip-off a satire of themselves. Never mind.

to be honest: I can tolerate the prequels. It's true that they ruined alot of the star wars mythos with the midichlorians (which I don't buy at all), Jar Jar (who, lets be honest, was just really annoying), Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christiansen as Anakin, and yeah the cgi added in the originals does seem unnecessary. But, looking at all six, I see movies, not bad or horrible movies. These movies, well, they're for kids and it shows.

Wait, why did Noah build a shoddy hut for himself if he could simply live in the ship wreck?

Excellent work MikeJ, as always. Still loving your stuff.

I love the whole fact that for a forest moon, there's not that much forest. Also Magic? Seriously?

    'Hitler?' XD

    These movies are bullshit.
  • Fuery87  - Again with the magic
There's magic in like every movie or cartoon that revolves around the Ewoks. Weather gods, witches, spirits, fairies...a fucking sentient mountain. IIRC author Dan Wallace was supposed to publish an article about all these oddities and perhaps give some explanation as to how they exist in a fictional universe based mostly in science, but that got cancelled.

Anyway, it always annoyed me that they spent the whole first film trying to rescue her family only to have them all killed off at the start of the second. Kind of like when they killed off all the surviving Aliens characters in Alien 3...though not quite as upsetting.

The Star Wars Saga still remains as my #1 favorite films of all time, and if you look on IMDB, you'll see that the films in the Prequil Trilogy have above average ratings.

Honestly, MikeJ, I've heard enough of the beating of the franchise. It's been done to death already, and Star Wars still remains strong to this day.

The Ewoks are talking in this film, because of the fact that we didn't understand what the wookiees were saying in The Holiday Special.

I think magic is in these movies instead of The Force is because the prequil trilogy wasn't around yet.

It's the Battle FOR Endor, not OF.
  • Crunchy_Frog
"I think magic is in these movies instead of The Force is because the prequil trilogy wasn't around yet."

And this proves your point how?
The Force in the original trilogy clearly wasn't "magic", it was scifi psionics.

"It's the Battle FOR Endor, not OF."

A battle FOR Endor would imply people fighting for control of the planet or the continuing existance of the planet. Neither of this applies here. It's just a skirmish in a forest.
