Wow,I thought I was the only guy on this side of the Atlantic that loved Peur(s) du Noir. This is a fantastic compilation of shorts about the pathology of Fear. Social fears, psychological fears and very real fear of the unknown. And contrary what Luke's alter ego think,I do believe they mold well together (Luke obviously never had a demanding girlfriend, trust me that third segment IS scary and very Twilight Zone-like).
The final segment is terrifying. Without a single word you just know some fucked up things have happened in that house. It's a short that makes you understand what French author Guy De Maupassant was talking about when he wrote:
"Fear--and the boldest men may feel fear--is something horrible, a ghastly sensation, like a sort of decomposition of the soul. A terrible spasm of brain and heart, the very memory of which brings a shudder of anguish, but when one is brave he feels it neither under fire nor in the presence of certain death nor in the face of any well-known danger. It springs up under certain abnormal conditions, under certain mysterious influences in the presence of vague peril. Real fear is a sort of reminiscence of fantastic terror of the distant past. A man who believes in ghosts and imagines he sees a specter in the darkness must feel fear in all its overwhelming horror." - La Peur (The Fear).

God you're annoying when you post comments. A fan doesn't necessary need to follow his twitter or every video he makes. And yes I've watched his past 2 videos. That doesn't mean I can ask a simple question ? Anyways his hiatus is just weird. He leaves the site and then comes back just like that...without any real explanation.

How to write this.,. You are overanalysing what you are reviewing from ALL angles which confuses people into thinking that are you promoting or demoting the movies. Try to keep it simple and straight, assume 1 personality and stick with it, with the occasional(not frequent) inclusion of 2nd opinions.
For instance Rango for the movies you liked, Ralph for movies you didn't(if I didn't confuse the two, Rango is the optimistic one, right?). Don't.., mix them all up in 1 review unless it's a pretty weird movie to get the opinion on.
I think it would work better like this,..

10.26.2011 - 05:53 | JunkWatcherI seriously disagree. Having his "voices in his head do the talking" is what makes Luke so unique to the site.
And (over)analyzing a movie from all angles is what a critic is supposed to do. That's the job of a critic. That way you, as viewer, can decide for yourself whether you want to see the movie or not.
And I think it works very well by having a respectful discussion between two opposite personalities. It's his way of telling what he likes and didn't like about the movie (or segments in this case) and going into a lot of detail for why he thought that, without giving away spoilers.
Seriously, start paying attention to how his reviews work and try to get to know the personalities. You'll see that it's actually quite brilliant how he handles it.
btw, Ralph is his inner serial killer, not his inner optimist, which is Ringo (with an I). He's the one with the buttoned cap and red jacket. The pessimistic one with the black clothes and the flat cap is Phillip.
Speaking of his personalities, did you really kill off Ralph, Luke? I really liked that character. I've always liked a sadistic kind of humor. Heck, you even gave him his own segment: Storytime with Ralph. Is that really gone now all of a sudden?

Opinion is complex dude, it's very rare that you actually love or hate everything about a single film beyond your personal favourites, but even then it's about accepting the flaws and still being able to see the positives.
He's just visually representing what we do naturally when viewing movies and it's a great way of differentiating himself from the other reviewers.

O.O
Was that actually charcoal that they used in that first one? Dude, it was a pain in the ass for me to make just one portrait with that stuff in a class, so call me impressed if they really used it for the animation.
Anyway, it's always nice to see something new from you. We hope to see more. (No pressure, obviously.) ^^
Auf Wiedersehen!

10.26.2011 - 21:52 | aunt_zeldaInteresting review, I might have to check this movie out sometime.
I really love your style of reviewing movies.
(I admit I found myself wondering where Wretch was during this review, and low and behold he shows up at the end to hang a lampshade!)
You killed off Ralph?! Nooooooooo! Ralph was awesome! Please say he isn't really dead!
