I just saw Adaptation so I can't bring myself to hate Cage's acting, but considering the fact that the only films he's actually improved by being in for the last 8 years was Kick-Ass, I feel no draw to his movies.
This is one of those pathetically written films where I know exactly what's going to happen after seeing the first trailer because the plot is so overused, Avatar was the same way.

Actual Medieval English, from "A Lytell Geste of Robyn Hode." (& I shit you not, this is the actual spelling).
"Therof no force," than sayde Robyn "We shall do well inowe; But loke ye do no husbonde harme,
that tilleth with his ploughe. No more ye shall no gode yeman that walketh by grene wode shawe,
ne no knyght ne no squyer that wol be a gode felawe."
Oh look, it's the bad CGI wolf from Van Helsing.

There was at least 1 decent thing about the movie. How the priest wasn't a jerk or evil at the end like it seemed he might have been. Why filmmakers want to portray priests as bad most of the time is beyond me, but this was a nice change here.
The way the girl was making him out to be evil actually gave it away that he wasn't evil if that makes any sense.

I love Nick Cage movies. He's got a certain sense of charisma that just makes him enjoyable.
Sure, he's not exactly Academy Award material, but he can be campy and hammy if he needs to be, and he's just enjoyable.
The only one of his movies that I absolutely regret going to see was "Knowing", but only because the ending scares the living hell out of me.
That said, I actually enjoyed the story of this movie. It was enjoyable for what it was. It wasn't the greatest, but by no means was it god-awful horrible. Average, yes, but still enjoyable if you just take it for what it is.

I am not seeing it for seeing a good movie, but because when I saw the trailer I was like "What? Perlman and Cage in one freaking movie about middle age and stuff? That has to be freaking hilarious!"

Never saw this film, and I never will, but I do have this to say. Concerning Nicholas Cage, I've thought long and hard about his acting style, and I've come to a conclusion. He's a bipolar Keanu Reeves. Either he's serious, which is bland, or he's hyped up and energetic, which makes you want to hide all the medication in the vicinity. He can be genuinely funny at times, but a serious actor? Uh uh honey, no!
And that's how it got burned.
