    I wouldn't consider you a B lister at all.
Doug and you are the only reason I come on this website. (and Noah on his website of course).
Keep up the good work dude ;D

I really love your videos and just like Wooly, you're one of the main reasons I visit this site. I watch just about every episode you release. I guess I can understand and relate to how you feel about Doug and Spoony getting all the main attention, but you do have a fanbase, that's for sure. I'm definitely one of them. And just as a note: I bought that Jet Black Stare album because you included Ready To Roll as your theme song.

A5, so British! I do love commentaries though, and I love your show, so there we go! Don't be so hard on yourself, your videos are in my top TGWTG rotation along with NC, Nchick, Linkara, Spoony, Joe and Phelous. I draw on the computer alot, so I run alot of videos from here in the background while I work, I've watched alot of yours multiple times ;P

I'm pretty sure I said this in the comments on the main review, but I saw this movie on TV once and I just kept watching out of morbid curiosity, wondering where the hell it was going and what the hell it even IS.

You aren't a B lister, you are more like an A- lister

Especially with that wonderful performance in Kickassia.

Its been said before but I hardly call you a B-lister (or if my troll bitching memory is good a ripoff of the NC). I actually like you're reviews better than Spoony's

Wait. Mermaids and fantasy? What American soaps have you seen? The ones I'm familiar with maybe have an occasional episode with angels or something around the holidays but that's about as far as that goes. They're more about mobsters and serial killers. And more than anything people with extremely screwed up lives and relationships. But not really much in the way of fantasy.

Thats okay because most of my knowledge like anyone else comes from you tube, too or you or doug or brad...etc.

Shame, I only ask because a soap opera with mermaids and other fantasy creatures sounds like a lot of fun to watch.
  • mrrubino
    avatar
I instantly thought of Passions, myself. I'm not sure if they actually had a mermaid but it sounds completely plausible.

EDIT: Oh my, I stand corrected. Unfortunately, all I know of this show comes from Wikipedia, so I guess there was a mermaid after all. As implied, makes perfect sense to me.
I know the show had a witch named Tabitha though. That makes me titter a bit in my soul.
  • Rurik
    avatar
I'll have to look into Passions then, all I'm familiar with are the ABC lineup, General Hospital, One Life To Live, All My Children. They don't really get into fantasy stuff. I think I remember ABC used to have one with vampires, but it was canned a few years back.
  • mrrubino
    avatar
Kindred: The Embraced, maybe? I only know it because it was a White Wolf thing. The star kinda died so they had to cancel it.
I also remember an online trailer for one of the established ABC soaps that had possibly-Mary-Ann-from- Gilligan's-Island saying "I'm a vampire slayer".
  • LaCapitana
    avatar
Haha, wow. I don't watch many soap operas but I always thought Spanish ones were funny because they're so cheesy.

Edit: Finished watching that video. I especially liked the R. Kelly one, that was hilarious!
I should start watching more tv from my country!

Like majority of these other comments, I too agree that you are not a B lister as you say. I believe that you along with a few others on this site are the only reason I keep coming back, NC, Nostalgia Chick, and a few others included.

I know it's hard to think you don't have it made when you feel you are not as popular as other reviewers, and it's ok because we all feel like that at some point. Just realize that you do have a lot of fans who like your work, and that counts for something

on a side note, good commentary

You're one of the reasons I stop by the website. Always look forward to your reviews.
  • Darkbirth
I have to be frank with you: This was a pretty lousy commentary in my opinion. The bit about Spoony in the beginning was a bit to drawn out, and you seemed to stutter a little too much. Even still, I wish you luck on your next commentary.
  • Gespenst
I wonder who cut that scene out, because the BBFC didn't cut the DVD version (or at least they say they didn't)

All subsequent versions replicated the cut. It would be waived today.

    Thanks for vid, FB.

Though I have to say, solo commentaries are a little dry for my tastes...
  • Captain Siberia
You do a commentary of sorts on a film, and then you do a commentary on your commentary? That's meta!

What you really need to do, though, is have a commentary on your review of Equilibrium in which you apologize for not having seen Fahrenheit 451.

Oh, and now that you've done a commentary on your Hudson Hawk review, you need to do a commentary on the commentary. And then you should do a commentary on that.

Oh, B-list? But I always come for your reviews! I need to see bad films torn to shreds!

Mermaids? What American soaps have you been watching?

just wanted to share something weird with you,

I fell asleep listening to this (not because I was bored, I was tired, I love your stuff, and wish I had known about you sooner), but the part where you talk about your guilty pleasure movies I actually dreamed while hearing your voice in my head! I was sitting in a regular bed room with you, I was sitting in a chair and you were on the floor, and I was listening intently to you and nodding in agreement to every movie you listed as you looked at me and recorded the commentary (which incidentally are all of my favorite movies)

And then you turned into a girl with boobs on her back and we made out (that's the weird part) lol

Even if you might, and I stress the word -might- be a B-lister (something I sincerely doubt), look at my favorite movie business B-lister: Bruce Campbell. That man is a god, and he can do no wrong.

Just because someone -might- be a B-lister doesn't mean they don't have talent. :)

God damnit, FB! I'mma gonna have to whack some confidence in you!
*breaks out glowing green Mighty Staff of Confidence*
I'll show you B-lister! *THWACK THWACK* You do good work and you try to learn from your mistakes! *THWACK THWACK*
And here's another for good measure. *MASSIVE THWACK*
Let me know how you feel after the bruises and broken bones heal.

But LOL. I didn't know that there was soap with an evil mermaid in it, but it doesn't surprise me. When I was a kid, I watch "All My Children" with my mom, which is a soap that's been on since 1970. XD

Oh, but our soaps PALE in comparison to Korean and Spanish soaps. Those things are gold, man, just gold.

OMG, Small Soldiers! :D You should do a review of that, or another guilty pleasure, since it IS your guilty pleasure, kinda like what NC did with Hook. It'd be fun to watch you so torn. XD

    So...
    Uh...
    *THWACK*

I dont find anyone on TGWTG a b-lister, you are a very good reviewer and you do your research well. And when I first saw this movie I was confused by the ending too, and when you mentioned an alternate ending was supposed to be in the movie, I thought that to be weird, but it would be a more logical ending than the original production. Another big fan base is Tekken, but their is a animated movie and an live-action, but I have no idea if it exists or not. My guilty pleasure is PASSENGER 57 and BLADE (all) , and one of the funniest comedies that is a 90s film with an urban setting, is FRIDAY.
  • bentleyml
Matthew you are just so damn adorable. you are a great talent and one of the top listers on the site.

Oh and as to Demolition Man it is one of the best action movies of the 90s.
  • whitetree89

Film Brain you are definitely NOT a "B-Lister", whatever that means when it comes to TGWTG. I'm not sure if you're heard of it, but at community.livejournal.com /fandomsecrets, there have been plenty of people saying how awesome they think you are, and even quite a few fangirls commenting on your adorable levels.

Demolition Man IS one of the best action movies of the 90s. Hell, it might even be THE best action movie of the 90s. Maybe Last Action Hero is better, but that's pretty much it.

    Hey Mathew,

OK, so I'm yet another person to say this, but from what I gathered of your personality (more from your commentaries than from your show), it won't hurt hearing it one more time.

    You're awesome.
    Your show is awesome.
Your analysis of movies is awesome.
Your sense of humor is awesome.
    Your theme song rocks.

If there were a Film-Brain T-shirt, I'd wear it at every concert I play to advertise your show (no BS).

I've seen all the videos you've published (actually, it's kind of a bedtime ritual for me: shower, Bad Movie Beatdown, read and good night).

Honestly? You're among my favorite reviewers on the site. I really dig what Doug, Lewis, Joe, Brad and Lindsey do, but to me, you've got a few points that place you at least on equal footing with them:

    - You're younger and yet the quality of your work is just as good
    - Your choice of movies to review is full of surprises (Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus, laughed my bollocks off!!)
    - You actually managed to make me realize that Equilibrium (which I thought was uber-cool) is filled with plot canyons and over-the-top SYMBOLISM!!!!!!! (hehehe, I had to).

The list could go on and on, but to make a long story short, you definitely shouldn't feel like a B-lister my friend.

So Mathew, keep up the good job and I eagerly await your new videos!!

    Cheers,
    Karim

Yeah, the german edition of Hudson Hawk was definitely altered into an even more sillier version, suprisingly for its own good. A lot of puns and reference jokes were added and turned the movie into a very entertaining ride. I guess that's why I never understood why there was so much hate for that movie in other countries, because I always found it to be hilarious.
Come to think of it, they did the same with a lot of movies. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live action movies and all of the Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill films got the same treatment over here.

I am a fan of yours, FB! I also have alot of respect for how you patrol the forums.

I don't think I've even been upset by your reviews or opinions because I don't take the reviews too serious. I do hope to see more a collab between you and Spoony in the future because you work off each other in a great way.
  • Zombie Breath
Film brain, your awesome. Your one of the reasons I come to TGWTG, You, Doug, Spoony and Angry joe. Your not A B-list person here your A+.

Don't worry, you aren't a B-lister. Your videos are absolutely awesome and hilarious. You always have an interesting and funny way of showing bad movies, and I find your opinions easy to relate to since I am about your age. Keep up the great work this year, I always look forwards to you vids!

There are lists here? You are among the people I do like to watch on this site. I think it is mostly personal preferences that makes people watch certain people anyway. I e.g. cannot stand most of the 'music critics' or those 'we sit on a couch and giggle like schoolgirls' guys. Or even worse, them people mostly known for e-begging.. But that is just me, I am sure other people enjoy Todd or RC bashing on some "dobidobidoo" lyrics (no, those are not the e-beggars i talk about;).

Well, anyway, good vid, just the 'Spoony is a god'-part was a bit long ;) (He isn't) and you, imo, are a FB-Lister =)
