You know, I was thinking the exact same thing Link. While we're at it, if Nuka-Cola Quantum was that color, it's about as bright as the Mountain Dew Energy bottle was.
Also, you guys really did seem a bit high. I guess the amount of caffiene in that bottle really was quite liberal. Either way, it was still pretty funny. :)
-
Pretty funny stuff especially with some of the most obvious jokes ever. Looked like you guys had fun doing this :silly:
Now I really want to know what mountain dew tastes like, because I have heard good stuff about it. Too bad we don't have it here in the netherlands. :(
-
It tastes like your heart will explode. Like sprite if you just drank the syrup it was made of before they thinned it out.
That's not even me bashing Mountain Dew, I love that stuff, but it's terrible for you.
-
07.15.2010 - 11:53 | epsilon246I found some near where i live, and I have to say it was pretty meh, not bad not good. But the stuff is like 13% sugar so I wouldn't recommend it.
-
Haha u can because more and more stores are getting mountain dew and other american products on the shelves.
For example u can find it at Jumbo supermarkten, Plus (they really have a lot of different stuff they do import a lot!) even at stores like America Today. so go out! and get yourself some mtd ;)
Btw nice vid

It's a nice change to see you having fun just hanging out with a couple of friends and enjoying a quality beverage together and joking around. Don't get me wrong, I still love your reviews on BMB-it's just nice to see you enjoying something every now and then. It's really nice to see Braeden and Lordhebe on the Home Page. Great job, my friends. Peace.

outa curiosity, what ingredient is banned in the UK? I didn't know coke and pepsi changed their recipes. I thought they just had limits on caffeine or something
Hopefully its corn syrup. that stuff is garbage, and so much of the stuff in teh US has it. I hate coke, but like mexican coke because they actually use sugar cane in it instead of corn syrup.

The banned ingredient is actually brominated vegatable oil, however, it's not the only ingredient that is changed compared to US Dew.
Sugar replaces the replaces the high fructose corn syrup, not because of any banning, but due to the fact that sugar is cheaper and more available in the UK. Corn syrup is heavily subsidised in the US, whilst sugar is heavily taxed, and has been since the late 70's/early 80's (which was when most drink manufacturers switched from sugar to corn syrup in the States).
The UK ingredients also appear to lack concentrated orange juice, which seems to have been replaced by artificial flavourings.
Finally, they have added about 20% extra caffeine to it, so they can sell it as an energy drink instead of a soft drink.
As someone who regularly ordered MD from AmericanSoda.com - I really don't think it tastes as good. It's also far too fizzy.
The best option for Mountain Dew in the UK is usually in your local Asian Foodmarket. The Asian Dew has identical ingredients to the US one (save the replacement of corn syrup for real sugar), and is usually a fair bit cheaper for a 500ml bottle then the UK version.
Also: It was, in fact, available in the UK at one point before, during the mid 90's. But because Mountain Dew ads were being re-edited to advertise Pepsi Max at the time, the ended up advertising it with very, very weird ads, featuring socks being run over by steamrollers. Yeah... I don't get it, either.
Suffice to say it never became that popular, and disappeared of the shelves within a couple of years.

07.15.2010 - 05:34 | cheetos166In Canada (where i am) we have mountain dew but its caffeine free, because apparently its against the law to have caffeine in "Clear" sodas, and for some reason mountain dew is classified as a clear soda lol. we had have the energy one here for like a month though, it just tasted like mountain dew to me.

That's so odd that you don't have Mountain Dew over there. Personally? I never touch the stuff. I think it's nasty.
You're not missing much!
And by the way, while High Fructose Corn Syrup might not be a great ingredient in sodas over here in the US, Aspartame is far worse and it's in most diet sodas in this country and all kinds of flavored drinks here. It's legal, but hotly contested by health advocates for its long term side effects.
Long story short: Soda is bad for you either way. xD

07.15.2010 - 06:29 | DerenWhat's so special about the taste anyway? And why does it have such a damn cool name? It's a Pepsi-product, right? Why does the original Pepsi taste like shit, but some other drink of that company so unqiue?
-
07.15.2010 - 11:03 | KariMountain Dew is called that because it was originally marketed as a hillbilly drink. It had a bumpkin and a pig as mascots. The whole thing was supposed to seem entirely countrified. It was even supposed to be healthy- which is why the third ingredient is orange juice. It's NOT healthy, though. (Another fun fact- the "other natural flavors" in Dr. Pepper is actually prune juice, or at least once was; I'm not sure, now.)
How it is owned by a company that isn't terribly creative under normal circumstances, I have no idea.

That's Braeden Orr of Review: Impossible fame! OMG! DUDE! You are like so awesome to hang out with two of the Channel Awesome contributors!
Okay, Okay. I'll be serious here. Braeden, congrats on being on the scroll! Congrats on your graduation. Congrats on hanging out with two funny British people and drinking Mountain Dew until you three get all hyper.
Great VLOG, my friends!

07.15.2010 - 07:00 | some-other-guy-with-glassesI'm not much of a Mountain Dew drinker anyway and I haven't had that particular flavor yet, but I had the white Mountain Dew in the contest for the new flavor and it tasted like carbonated deodorant.

CAN I HAVE A MOUNTAIN DEEEEWWWWWW???
I lived in Britain a few decades ago, and we used to buy Mountain Dew at the base exchange and give it to our British friends, many of whom became addicted to it. Back then, I used to drink MD like crazy. I swear, every time I opened a can of the stuff, I could hear "Popeye the Sailor Man" playing in the background.

I definitely didn't expect Film Brain to review drinks. Was it done just for Benzaie or is it a new trend of TGWTG people?
First Lordkat started with bad food, then The Cinema Snob with the drinks, now Film Brain? Do we have to expect JewWario and Marzgurl to review Japanese imported drinks?
Nice video, though, "Drink Brain"!

Well, it was pretty much Film Brain and Lordhebe meeting me in London to hangout and eat lunch. Before lunch, we were talking about soda (for whatever reason), and Hebe mentioned that the UK didn't have Mountain Dew. Well, after lunch we went to Sainsbury's and lo and behold, they had Mountain Dew. So, we made hebe buy all of us one, I broke out my camera, and we filmed this bad boy.

So it's legal for Americans to drink those harmful ingredients? That really doesn't sit right for me. :(
