I think Todd talked about this phenomenon. Mostly about pop songs, but it can also apply to movies. Unlike the US, Britain's a smaller and much more narrow demographic, and US films typically only get made if the execs think it'll have broad appeal. Lacking both those factors, you can see why movies like this would be more common there.

You have to remember that "US movies" usually means "Hollywood movies". It's actually very fascinating how a particular medium grows to be so big and becomes so centralized. It'd be pretty weird if the same happened to, say, video games, that alongside the grassroots and medium-sized productions there would be this one, physical place where most of the magic happens and what'd become pretty ubiquitous with the medium as a whole.
I think people don't even realize how little range Hollywood movies have when compared to music or videogames or books, I know I don't. In any of those mediums I think we get Cabin in the Woods's and Tim Burton's Batmans ever so often that they're just commonplace.
Of course there's a reason for how things are and I'm not accusing movies of anything. The production values just don't come from nothing.

I think they wanted to be like the Inbetweeners, but failed due to the fact that all the characters in that are in six-form and are a mess of hormones anyway, these lot look around their mid 20's or some shit and at least in Inbetweeners only one character was constantly as you describe these people.. hell he seems subtle compared to these lot!

Thinking "British horror-comedy about werewolfs" made me want to rewatch "Dog Soldiers"(2002) with Kevin McKidd! That was really good low-budget werewolf flick!

Hey Film Brain, maybe they were trying to reach for the Twilight crowd? Maybe? Not sure if Twilight is playing in Britain yet, but that's my guess of why it was released this month. Since Twilight is so popular, tickets could get sold out, forcing the Twihards to buy a ticket for Love Bite. Most Twihards I know are Team Jacob, so it makes sense. I know other films that did something similar. Of course, it being bad had something to do with it. I kinda wish you just said the ending, because now I'm tempted to watch it to find out, but I don't want to watch it because nothing annoys me more than sex-addicted guys! Damn you curiosity! Damn you!

The only equal I can think of in American terms to some of these movies is Fred and/or the Fred movies. Horrible, over accentuated characters and rough, awkward sex scenes (FOR KIDS!) all around.
I'm not ready to give up watching British entertainment, but films like this make it damn hard to defend British cinematic releases.
Good work as always Mr. Buck. I am attempting to put together a review show that takes a lot after Projector. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Les Miserables.
