Back in the 80's with the computers like Commodore 64, Ameiga 500, Atari st and so on there were a lot of games that only had a few levels.
For example Ghostbusters 2 only had 3 levels (the manhole shaft, the statue of liberty level and the museum showdown with Vigo), but they were so hard that you'd be lucky to beat them.

Yeah, but the game in the movie is supposed to be like this SUPER AMAZING game that would change the way games were made forever. Yet from the looks of it, any of the older Pokemon video games would take longer to beat.
Anyway, thanks for reviewing this, FB! I've been wanting you to review this for a long time, but I had no idea if there was a way to send you an email or something to make suggestions. XD

When first heard there was a Third Spy Kids I was excited, but when I saw it I was so let down by it because the last two were fun to watch. But this one was crap.

I remember the first two Spy Kids! Those movies were pretty... okay. Entertaining, but they were certainly nothing to write home about. I didn't even know that there was a third movie in the series until Brad Jones did a review of Spy Kids 4, and I'm glad I didn't; this movie looked atrocious.
Thank you for making a 2D version of this review. I'm not sure why so many other reviewers assume that all their viewers own 3D glasses... anyway, I appreciate your considerateness,

I saw this when I was a kid, and I think I enjoyed it. I don't know, I'm getting the faint impression that I was beginning to grow the primordial cells that eventually become good taste, so even back then I was a little iffy about it. I really forgot a lot about it since then, and BOY is it a lot more stupid than I remembered.
Though the reason I was iffy back then maybe had less to do with taste and more to do with the fact that I hadn't seen the second movie. I own the first one, never saw the second.
Still, GEEZ am I glad I was too young to understand just how stupid this was and how much of a shame it is to see Khan himself in a movie like this. What exactly was going through Ricardo Montalbon's head when he read this script?!
Also, am I the only one who thinks the first level looks like it was ripped off from ToonTown? Was that game even around when this was made?

I agree with most people on this,I did like this film as a kid,but the more I watched it the more I started to hate it.I enjoyed the beatdown of this movie like always. Also I was impatient and saw this on blip and didn't get a chance to see the 2d version and I got to see the 3d version with out the 3d glasses and that was...fun,lol.

You watched Spy Kids? Willingly? You are a masochist.
We already saw him out of costume in the convention video.
I can see in 3D without the anaglyphic glasses & it doesn't hurt my eyes...I'm scared.
Is that Alan Cumming from Titus?
Right right...Kids Next Door + The Cell/Matrix/Tron/Hunter X hunter: Greed Island/.hack/SIGN/Bastof Lemon/GetBackers.
The miscasting of seasoned actors in this movie is very amusing.
Personal rule: A boy can't have a love interest until he's hit puberty & his voice has deepened.
The CGI is so cartoony, it's like watching Reboot. I wish that was still on TV.
From Khan & Mr. Roark to Irongramps; How sad.
I wanna be the guy.

Why would you not discuss all the scenes in all the versions? It's not like you have to reshoot anything. You just replace the movie clips appropriately. And since Film Brain is watching it in 3D, all the jokes still work.
The only scene that isn't in the otehr version is the part at the beginning. And the only time you deviate after is when you go and get the better glasses. There's no reason that couldn't be in both versions.
I mean, the 3D scene at the beginning has so little 3D that could have easily included it. Instead of me having to watch this simultaneously on two different computers so I would know for sure I didn't miss anything.
Still, I can't fault you for at least caring that most people don't have anaglyphic 3D glasses, and won't want to watch a red/blue fest.

I remember I wasn't that interested when this movie came out in theaters. Later when I could rent it on DVD I remember looking it up in the VideoHound, and a little typo they made was that the likes of Cumming and Buscemi were listed as "cast members", not "cameos". (Seriously, I loved them in the previous movies; I was expecting they had bigger parts.)
Overall my opinion of the movie was: Meh... The first two were better...
I think this should have actually been marketed as a video game. It may have still gotten crappy reviews from game critics, but at least we wouldn't just be sitting there being bored. We'd at least be a little more engaged just by wanting to play for a while.

18:40 Didn't you Mommy teach you that cake is a lie?
22:50 Good to know that a ca. 30 meters fall onto concrete within the head of a giant robot does absolutely no harm at all.

09.02.2011 - 06:33 | North is upThis Trilogy is just my little guilty pleasure trilogy, I know that they're not really that good, but their from my childhood, and while they don't hold up as well, I can still enjoy them. Weird that this film is actually my second favorite, the first is my least favorite, I don't know, it just always was. I guess this is just another review that I will never watch again. Please review Season of the Witch or Skyline.

But what bugged me was how, if it was a video game, the mechanics made sense. I was a gamer as a kid; and it confused me about how the gameplay and scoring system worked. I mean, there is 5 levels. What sort of lame ass game only has five levels?
Oh and I don't remember if this was answered, but did the address the reason why they game was seemingly a virtual reality game, despite the fact that anyone that brought the game wouldn't have the fancy OSS equipment to play it. Or is the 3-D so amazing that you really do feel like you're there?
Nice review man, keep up the good work
