50th EPISODE!!!! I am so happy! I love watching your reviews! And a newspaper movie? Goodness. o_o Eee. This will be interesting.
  • Jedi Ali  - Congrats with the 50th
I Like your reviews, but hate your voice and body language. Sorry but I had to say it.
With that said, I realy wish you the best on your upcomming reviews...and yes... i'm looking forward to them.

Congrats on 50 episodes! You gotta love a non-supernatural movie, with a supernatural final spin. It just makes no sense and is out of place

Oh and if you want to see the worst box art spoilers in history, just look at Planet Of The Apes. Almost every version of the DVDs (maybe the VHS as well, but I can't remember) has a giant picture of the head.

I also want to extend my congratulations to you Film Brain. It almost seems like its been more than that, but its great to see you hit such a milestone. I can't wait to see your next set of movies next year.

I've never heard of a movie being released in that way. It really is devilishly ingenious. I guess they had no other option though, because I can't imagine this selling unless they did something special. That movie was bad and the ending was unbelievable. I just don't know what to say about it other than just ... wow. Good on you for getting through it.

The last movie with a poor Supernatural twist I saw was Ghost Ship. I did not expect you to put one of Doug's characters into this but it was Bloody Brilliant-_- and once again Copyright makes no god damn sense GOD(with the "Songs" in the film.)
  • rowdycmoore  - Congratulations on 50, and...

Film Brain I implore you – now hear you my plea!
There’s one awful movie we have yet to see!
The great Doctor Seuss surely turned in his grave
When Mike Meyers slashed his best work with a glaive!
The jokes and the actors so bad to the end,
That we won’t see live-action Seuss ever again!
It must get its Beatdown, and that’s simply that!
I beg you to review THE CAT IN THE HAT!!!
  • TragicGuineaPig

Also, Boris Karloff will always be the one true Grinch. Jim Carey isn't even worthy to untie the man's shoes.
  • jayo
No, it's the other way around, Jim Carey will always be the one true Grinch. Boris Karloff isn't even worthy to urinate in the man's direction!
  • Squeejee
    Wow. Seconded.
  • TBTabby
"The jokes and the actors so bad to the end,
That we won’t see live-action Seuss ever again!"

Which makes this movie a blessing in disguise, if you ask me.
  • BaltoStephenWinter  - Continuing with the rhyming game.

One movie that you have forgot.
A movie that is lacking in acting and plot.
The critics beg audiences not to turn it on.
Let us see a review of the movie, Eragon.
  • Jedi Ali  - Exactly
Eragon sucks balls. The choclaty salty kind.
  • jayo
I beg to differ, as Mike Myers will always be the one true Cat in the Hat! And whatever slashing Mike did to the Dr's work was much deserved!

Nicely done, congratulations on your 50th episode.

I'd say the best bit in this episode was the Highlander reference. Wooooo Highlander + Charles Dickens.
  • Fenrir235
    avatar
    poor Mr. Dickens ...

but congratulations Film Brain ! to the next 50 episodes ... cheers
  • Themonsean  - Of corse he is a Highlander
    avatar
Oh you didn't know? Dickens and I have lunch on Tuesdays.
  • e33laf
Congratulations on your 50th episode guys. You've come a long way since Pluto Nash.

Though the slow song in the ending montage kind off threw me a bit at first. It kind of made it seem like you had died and this was a kind of memorial rather then a best of Bad Movie Beatdown, but then it seem to pick up a bit and made me smile and the end.

    Here's to 50 more!

50 episodes and only one bad one. Thats actually rather good complishment. Yes, I have not still got over it that you said bad things about Cobra.
  • Fanofyou

why is it weird that he has a cave on the Thames? please be kind to a ignorant American.
  • quizzabella
    avatar
@Fanofyou - it's weird that there's a cave on the Thames because there are no caves on the Thames. The film is shot in central London and the river is mostly banked by concrete these days.

(congratulations on your 50th episode Film Brain - loved all of them, looking forward to more :))
  • YetAnotherGeek
Wow, 50 episodes...must feel pretty damn good.

That...ending...SUCKS! I mean, really, it's Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy all over again (such a great game up until...that one character revealed themselves. For those who played the game, you know the one). But aside from that, it does seem rather pathetic of a movie, though it does make me curious to see what other movies never see the light of day...hey, maybe some of them are kinda good.

Damn! Every so often the videos here on TGWTG end abruptly just to be replaced by commercials. Am I the only to experience such problems? It drives me mad as I have to load the video all over again and suffer another 30 seconds of pointless commercial.
  • The Hardcore Kid

Oh, Derek Jacobi, how did you go from Hamlet to starring in junk like this?

Happy 50 episodes Film Brain! Here's to another 50 more!
  • pharmmajor

I'm actually surprised Mathew didn't make any references to Jacobi as The Master.
  • DuosAngel

So I guess I won't be finding hidden gems in the paper then? I can't believe a film that bad went from being free in the paper to getting a DVD release. Great episode, as fitting for your 50th. This whole season has just been awesome and I can't wait for season three. Before we know it we'll be celebrating your 100th episode.
  • MasterKirov

With all those unreleased Movies just sitting on shelves, does that mean someone is actually WORSE than Uwe Boll?
  • DMaster
Tsk, hardly. Boll's just a master of manipulation, given how he constantly manages to obtain the funding necessary for his movies and to get them releases. There COULD be someone out there worse...but for the sake of our sanities, let's assume he is as bad as it gets.
  • TheManFromBartertown

I have a few Newspaper distributed DVDs, mostly Christmas films they give away at the end of the year. One of them is The Year Without A Santa Claus, but there I got lucky.
  • The Maskeraider

Congratulations on your 50th episode Film Brain! And what a way to celebrate than with a crappy newspaper film.

I had the same reaction you had with the reveal of Charles Dickens. It literally came out of left field. What is he? Is he a Time Lord? A vampire? Vandal Savage? What?

Hope you come back soon with a fresh batch of bad movies to beatdown.
  • Balesirion
Well, that was certainly a role fit for an actor of Derek Jacobi's stature, wasn't it? After all, what's the difference in stature between Emperor Claudius and Immortal Bum Murderer Charles Dickens?

    Congratulations on 50 episodes!
  • phTheDude
Congratulations on 50 episodes! Everyone else already said "Here's to 50 more," so, just to be annoying I say:

    Here's to 150 more episodes!

One additional thing that seemed really annoying about the ending (at least to me, maybe I missed something) - so, if Charles Dickens and The Hobo were both played by Jacobi, and turned out to be the same person, does that apply to all the doubled-up actors and actresses? Like, is DateRapey McPhotos actually Alice?
  • SID47
Congrats man, it's been very entertaining 50 episodes, thank you! keep up the great work.
  • MiriamG
    avatar
Noes! How dare these bastards drag Dickens's name through the mud? (Yeah, I'm a lit major; I take these things personally. :P)

See you next year and have fun in the real world in the meantime!
  • Gunwild
Good work, Brainy. I may not always agree with you (Book of Eli totally sucked, dude!) but you make funny videos, occasionally even MEANINGFUL ONES (like Seven Pounds). Ya come a loooooooong way since the first few reviews, certainly. I know you guys don't have Thanksgiving over in The United Kingdom of Short Muffins and Cricket, but I will take this opportunity to thank you for the free entertainment and wish you the best with continuing it.
  • DMaster
Congrats, guys. Seriously. I've been following...not since the beginning, I hadn't heard of the site at that point, but I have followed since the Final Destination 3 review. I really fell in love with this show at that point. I can't wait for next season!
  • vash_elric42  - Congrats

congrats on the 50th episode. And if I may make a suggestion for the next series, I would love to see the film 2012 get ripped a new one. I freaking hated that film.

As a current English graduate student, I have to say that I find it almost offensive what this film does to Charles Dickens. I only say ALMOST because this film is so poor that no one will really care what it has to say.

  • weckar  - YAY

Glad to have been here for the ride. I wonder if next seasons opening will be as hilarious as the one you did for this season. Who will you get to do a guest appearance?

Anyway, if you're still looking for movies for next season, may I suggest the 2001 version of Thir13en Ghosts? I used to be a fan of this film, but watching it again made me realise the PLoT CaNYoNS and amount of nonsensical plot driven decisions this film has. Not to mention it is Tony Shalhoub in a supposed horror movie...
