ohh I cant wait to see what you have to say about this film :D

Oh dear God, this film was shit. Walked out after 20 minutes.
• King Rocky IV  - If you had to watch one bad Kevin James movie this

This was bad. Hitch was worse. Nobody expected this movie to do well, but Hitch had Will Smith power behind it. That's usually a guarantee for box office gold (Seven Pounds notwithstanding).

Yeah, that's the power of Will Smith, he's just so damn awesome.
• theTman432  - i admit it
i like this movie. i find it as a guilty pleasure

I have to agree. I actually do find this movie funny, even during its more stupid moments. I also like Hitch as well. I guess this is because it's very easy to make me laugh.
• srv_is_god88
Oh no! They ruined a perfectly good Devil's jersey for this movie! NOOOOOO!

Great review Film Brain! Wow, the clips you shown from the movie were really, really dull. I guess Paul Blart, Mall Cop really was mediocre.

You know, I'm surprised you didn't review Observe and Report, which I consider even worse than this movie. The supposed protagonist was really disturbing, the plot was just as weird and then there's the infamous date scene...

I didn't think this film was that bad, it was a 6/10 in my opinion. I know it isn't very good but i also think it isn't that bad. I like Kevin James but this film had quite a few plotholes. Nice review all the same! =D

I agree, its not really bad, but it never made me break into a laugh attack. I chuckled at a few jokes, but the rest of the movie wasn't funny and honestly boring. There's a ton of stupid cliches and some times there was no logic. I'd give it a 5/10 or so.

I can't believe this was supposed to be a comedy. Or made 150 million dollars.

If you have ever seen Kenny vs Spenny then you might know that a blart is a blood fart. Shit you not. They have a guy on film who blarted his pants. It's on the viral video episode.

hey I'm hypoglycemic, and it definitely doesn't work like that. Oh yeah, shitty movie too.

I watched this movie with my mom a few months ago. We had heard it was funny. Yeah, it sucked. I agree that it isn't horrible, but it was not a very funny movie. I actually like Kevin James. He was funny on King of Queens. I don't get why he chooses to be in crappy comedies. Hell, when I watched Hitch, I didn't really like it that much, but I still liked him in it. He was more interesting than Will Smith. So I think he's capable of being funny, but he chooses to be in crappy movies.

Honestly, I don't think you can base how successful a movie is by how much money is made off of it. There are certain groups of people that make up the sum. Here are a few, and there are probably more. The Curiosity Group, these are the people who saw the trailer and are interested in the things the creators of the movie decided to show them (These people know how to market movies) A.K.A Trailor Trusters. I don't mean this title in a negative way, I've been a Trailor Truster too, everyone probably has been one. Another group are those people who liked the leading actor in another movie or television show. Again, everyone has probably done this.
What I really can't stand is when they announce the success of movies after the box office weekend, usually on some news program, and say how much money was made. They don't ask what viewers thought of the movie. Somewhere along the line the amount of money equals how good the movie was. In some cases this is true, but in other cases, like "Paul Blart Mall Cop" this theory is completely false.

I like this movie it's a kids film any way great review
• DrewMaster578
Kevin James's career kinda went down the shitter after The King of Queens ended, nothing he's been in lately is any funny
• CaptainAndy27
I thought Grown Ups was pretty good.

you'd probably find anything with pee funny, wouldn't you? :gah:
• CaptainAndy27
It didn't even have that many piss and fart jokes it was mostly them ripping on eachother which I thought was funny. And by the way you don't need to f***ing insult me just because I like a movie you didn't so piss off.

I don't know what it is about Kevin James that bugs me personally. I never liked him on TV and the only movie I came close to actually liking him was "I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry" if you can believe that. Loved the review as always keep them coming.

What is it with some funny comedians that their humor doesn't translate well on screen?

Actually it was Rock Band not Gutair Hero that was being played.

Well to be fair "Guitar Hero" is the only one of the two franchises that actually does have an arcade version.

I agree with you film brain when I first saw the movie I didn't think it was funny at all, but that's just my opinion.

I loved this movie. I'm probably extremely biased as I saw it in theaters with my ex and have great memories laughing with him. But I always found Paul so loveable and genuine. I love how it seemed to parody all the big action movies.

You seemed to take the movie too seriously. The humor is dorky but I think it fits the character well.

Ah yes, one of the two big mall cop movies of 2009 (the other being Observe and Report). Made around the same time, sharing similar storylines, similar genres, only big difference was the rating. And yet, the one that earned less was the better of the two (although the quality difference was marginal). That said, neither movie is dreadfully awful. They're just both stale. This one, a bit more so than the other.

Good review. Nailed the dull humor of this film to the wall.

Why does the love interest have such a dopey expression in every scene she's in? Was she high during filming?

I saw this movie in the theaters on my birthday and I liked it, I still like it, its not the best movie ever but its not the worst, its not as bad as G.I Joe, its a type of movie where you leave half your brain at the door, so you can have some fun but still be able to detect the un-funny and stupid parts.
• akkuma420

I think I know why this movie made so much money.... if you remember this movie came out at almost the exact same time as "Observe & Report" and that movie fucken sucked.
For some odd reason, January was the month for mall security movies and this was by far the better of the 2..... in my opinion anyway.

This movie was pretty bad but it wasn't awful.
I applaud you sir for recognizing the fact that it was purely mediocre.

Great review by the way.

Now this is bad movie. I didn't laugh at all to scenes of movie althought I laughed to Film Brain's commenting.

I watched this film on a plane and before they played it the flight attendant said, "If you don't like it, well, too bad."

I do know who to blame for this film.

Tommy Wiseau.

Because there aren't enough jokes about him already! =D

It's sad that the one funny joke just barely amused me.

There is humour in this film, but it's all based around the character himself rather than actual gags. Basically, he's a security guard who acts like a cop from one of those over-the-top action films, and that's pretty much the joke in just about every scene. The "brainee" line for example, isn't meant to be funny in itself- you're supposed to find humour in the fact that he's trying to be witty, when he obviously isn't.

Personally, I kind of enjoyed the movie, but I suppose that sort of humour isn't for everyone. And I'll admit, it's probably not the sort you want to spread over an entire movie.
• CaptainAndy27
I especially love how this movie misrepresents mall cops as useless assholes who issue "tickets for moving recklessly in a crowd." My sister's fiancee was a mall cop and he had stories about drug deals, thefts including thefts from and of cars, and domestic violence. And him and the other mall cops were fit and strong enough to handle them all perfectly well. Paul Blart couldn't be a mall cop they wouldn't let him.
• Teacup

Are mall cops useless? No. Are they bad enough dudes to save the president? Probably not.
• CaptainAndy27
What's your point. I'm just saying that they're not as pathetic as this movie portrays them as.
