I saw this movie opening night, and to be perfectly honest, I've never understood why everyone hates it with a such violent rage. I had a hell of a lot of fun watching it and that's really all I hope for when I watch a Marvel film. I'll take this movie over any of the wretched Spiderman movies to be sure. Maybe it's because I'm not a die hard Marvel/X-Men guy or something, I don't know. The movie isn't perfect, but there wasn't one second where I wasn't entertained.

Why do you hate Spider-man. The first movie got good reviews and the second one was considered one of the best comic book movies until the Dark Knight. This was a bad movie even if you don't know them. Dumb plot, bad continuity with the other movies, and horrible effects. I can understand enjoying it but why do you hate those movies.

03.12.2010 - 23:43 | RaditzdmI have to agree, as a standalone film, it wasn't that bad.... as long as it's the only wolverine movie you've seen, never read the comics, and have seen few action movies in your life.
-
05.05.2010 - 16:14 | redmangcNor is filmbrain... i do try and agree and see what he means but he follows doesnt convey it well, the thing is for more of the comic guys out here its just a joke the play when they do things like seeing Cyclopes i just shows that characters never die or age.
And a side note for you brain... you worst quote ever is retarded. its a real saying said by a person who would have been born in the 20s so really its "Be careful for what you wish for, because you just might get it." Very common phrase but... its just making me mad trying to not hate on you, but i understand what you do try and say at some points... just make it sound better and don't make that face you do when you dont like something, it just makes you look like an asshole

not with Ryan Reynolds having some creative control, its always best when you get someone who cares about the source material to manage a project.

Thanks to Mat, my "Secret contributor" for the footage I used to make my first 5 sec movie. (Plugged with his permission, seriously.)
http:// thatguywiththeglasses.com /community/blog/16524[/ url]
It was him who showed me this abomination first hand, and instilled the memory of another "bad-ass" who was pussified in the cliche-to-end-all- cliches.
What WAS he fighting for?
Also, Mat, as I've mentioned dozens of times, I know you feel this is your "weakest" review of the newer eps but it holds a lot of ground.
All in all, still a great episode. I love how you keep throwing X-Men 2 back in this movie's face. Nice continuity indeed.

03.11.2010 - 23:27 | Tsamb7Thank you for taking this film apart - as you pointed out; it sadly did very well, and i was starting to wonder if anyone else noticed how shite it was - I shall be watching more of your videos from now on!!! ;p x
-
-It's stupid to say that you need things spelled out for you before you can have an emotional attachment.
-Getting airsick is not signs of being a puss.
-DO you not get it? Logan was different before the crap that happened to him, AND different after he lost his memory.
-Being Romantic IS NOT WEAKNESS!!!!
-comparing it to the "nooooo" of Darth Vader is blasphemous
-"worst line of dialogue" My god how freakin picky can you be?
-....yeah the shot to the head thing I can agree on
-bad CGI claws are bad
-comparing that line to "lightning and a frog" line= stupidly picky AGAIN
-"fight scenes are boring" what movie were you watching again? are you sure it wasn't the other 3 x men movies?
-She set the whole thing up because it would not have cause the same chain of events if she just told him to go.
-Yes the blades in his arms is really stupid.
I'm sorry Buck, but I've had to deal with people who hate this movie for a long time. Every time I ask why, the parts they hate are the parts I liked. I watched this hoping that you could clear it up for me the way you did with Equilibrium and help me understand. However you have failed horribly. Mind you I write this not only to get this frustration off my chest but I also do this so that anyone else who loved this movie will know that they are not alone.

03.12.2010 - 00:13 | poetgriotI just want to add one thing on to this, anyone who has actually put effort into learning about wolverine would know that his bone blades are one of his mutant abilities, and that the adamantium only made them more awesome. Dumbass.

One thing I find hilarious that I thought for sure you would have pointed out was that at the end when Logan's like "nothing chnged between us" to his brother when clearly everything should change considering sabertooth didn't actually kill his wife like he thought. Their whole epic rival is now back to being a simple dissagreement. I mean the only reason he got the surgery was because he wanted revenge for his wife.
-
actually if the film was following the comic book canon then it would be correct, well just for the claws part, theres one time in the x-men comics where magneto gets all angry and pulls the adamantium out of wolverine body revealing that his claws were made of bone.
however i still hate what they did to deadpool, and the whole memory lost with bullet crap

Yes, and it was just as stupid in the comic book as it was in the movie. Being accurate does not magically make it a good idea.
-
03.12.2010 - 05:20 | KurvosWell, you are not alone either. I love the movie too. And I think Film Brain is starting to get very, very cranky.
-
03.13.2010 - 12:48 | Lee is Still GamingThe purpose of watching a review is not to make sure his opinion agrees with yours.
If we're going to toss around insults for 5-year-olds, you might as well tell me to screw off, too. I hate X-Men Origins. I fucking hate hate HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE X-Men Origins.
Am I going to type why? No. Because I shouldn't have to waste 20 paragraphs explaining a simple opinion of mine. Film Brain made a video explaning in great detail why he hated this putrid movie, and all you can say is, "Screw You."

03.11.2010 - 23:48 | Neo Ultra MikeYou know I did kind of like X-Men Origins: Wolverine somewhat when I saw it in theathres, mainly because there were some decent action scenes. But yeah for a prequal not only does it have some glaring continuity flaws (will they EVER explain how sabertooth changed between the two movies) as well as a lot of dumb plot moments. Really that entire moon speech just reeked of a "SYMBOLISM!" moment so glad you managed to get one joke off that and a lot of other funny material as well. (Should of had an "Adamaneteum rage" moment to shout out to Linkara but I guess that's just fanwanking talking. But the good kind, not the "Let's put Deadpool and Gambit in the movie and not have them really do anything improtant or be faithful representations of their characters" sort of deal).

I'm happy that you brought back the original opening. Honestly, I really do like the new opening, especially the montage of you doing your "hello and welcome" intro, but there's something about this song that I just...like.
Also, bone claws? Horseshit! Healing is his mutant power, not the damn claws. He had his claws installed by Stryker back when he was Weapon X.
Also also, I love how they explain how X is the Roman numeral for 10. What moron said "...X?" Seriously, if Wolverine is the tenth project, then that must mean that there have been nine others. Did this idiot ask "...IX?" "...VIII?" Did he ask what every single set of letters meant? Honestly!
-
03.12.2010 - 19:55 | Private NumberActually, the movie does follow the comic book in the same way with this.
Originally, Logan had started out with bone claws. The only reason why they are now metal is because his entire skeletal structure was replaced with metal.
Unfortunately, this does get in the way the movieverse continuity. :/

The title alone is a lie. In the opening credits alone, we skip through over a full century of Wolverine's life, skipping all the classic moments of his past, including teaming up with Captain America and freeing Magneto from a concentration camp, the many years he spent in Japan and had a son there, and his time in Alpha Flight (Canada's answer to The Avengers).
This isn't an origin story, this is a story about the Weapon X program and nothing else.
-
03.15.2010 - 19:42 | RedRedEven as a weapon X story it fails, it barely trails the weapon X program, the characters introduced not only don't follow the pre-established movie continuity but also fail miserably at making movie versions of the comic book counterparts. For example Blob's power is supposed to make him a living planet he has a freaking gravitational field but here he's just kinda strong. The movie was terrible in all aspects plain and simple, would have been much better if it followed his childhood to just before he was taken in by Weapon X. They also make it seem that Weapon X was the first program and that the Weapon plus program (I to IX) never happened making the name Weapon X seem rather forced and stupid.
-
wolverine as always had bone claws in the comics and at one time magneto strips the atimatium off his bones reviling that he had them
-
03.14.2010 - 04:32 | RulkHe didn't ALWAYS have them, it was retconned in much later
-
i dont think fox over uses wolverine because of hugh jackman or that wolverine is that popular that he becomes bigger than all the others its because that fox just loves wolverine, point Cyclopes is also popular and is know, hes one of the first ever x-men and the leader, but in first one is belittled by wolverine second barely in it and thrid killed in the first five mintues
they just want to make money of a one character not the x-men as a whole
