WHY did this not become a Saturday morning cartoon instead of that Sonic show? Sonic SAT AM was way better anyways.
This made less and less sense the more I learned about it but somehow that just made it more fun and funnier than it should have been.
I was hoping the Toads would of used their powers to beat up the principle and other students cause that's what a lot of heroes would like to do. These guys probably would have too, so double fail.
After my sides stop hurting I'll look forward to the next Familiar Face.

Where has Rare been for the past 6-7 years? It seems like they just can't get a break since Microsoft bought them. And I had such high expectations from them as well! Seriously, where's Killer Instinct 3? Banjo-Threeie? Conker's Bad Fur Day 2? Jet Force Gemini 2? Blast Corps 2? Perfect Dark 2? There are so many things Rare that us fans have been wanting!
If you make them, we will buy.

11.24.2010 - 02:05 | InkmonkeyWho on the creative licensing team decided that the Battletoads had to be humans that became Toads in these adaptations? It just seems so arbitrary. I mean, if these were standalone projects I wouldn't really think about it, but seeing as they're adaptations of something that has a plot already (albeit a poorly fleshed out one), you'd think they'd preserve what little of it there is. I think the story would be a lot more entertaining if it was just space-frogs fighting space pigs.
But I guess that was just one of those weird things in the 90's... every story needed to be "grounded" somehow... somehow imply that there's a connection to the real world. Whether it's inserting some kid who magically transports to the world of the story, or he turns into the hero of the story, or whatever.
Like that My Pet Monster movie the Critic reviewed not too long ago. It was an adaptation of something that, granted, didn't really have a plot, but it STILL managed to fuck up that minimum premise it had. The appeal of the product was that it was your PET monster. Not the idea that the customer could somehow turn into a monster themself.
God I got off on a weird tangent. Anyway, good job again, CR! Totally dig the Keroro versions of the 'Toads. Very clever.

"Let's get Warty"??? Doesn't really roll off the tongue the way "Cowabunga!" did.
The animated scene you added was just brilliant and I hope you do more of those in the future. Also Blemish is just awesome, didn't know a frog could be sexy. And did I just see the Dark Queen molesting the princess? Cause if I did then this cartoon wasn't all bad.

Evil lesbian queen! Kind of interesting how many phallic objects she has around, for a lesbian, though... Penis envy?
Okay, okay, sorry, I'll stop. My defense is that all the sex jokes here kinda stuck my brain on childish mode.
Whoah, they actually revealed themselves? :D That's really kinda awesome. It sometimes annoys me that this is like the ONE RULE nobody dares to break in any superhero story, whatever the media. I get it that it's smart to keep your identity secret but sometimes it's unbelievable how many close-calls they manage to go through and how many times they don't even tell people when it would really make things easier.
The princess seems like a pretty funny character, actually. xD Cloud-Cuckoolander, indeed. I kinda love how airheaded she is. :D I definitely wouldn't mind a princess character like that. For once it'd make sense why she keeps getting in trouble. And actually even the boys seem pretty likable, all in all. Goofy, but still. At least it's original.
Grrreat job, CR! Familiar Faces is well on its way to becoming my favourite show on this site. :D Perfect mix of jokes and analysis. I like it how you have more stress on the analysis in contrast to NC who has more stress on the humour. It works great as a combination.

I am talking about the incredibly poor video quality. It's so bad I couldn't even finish the video because it was so distracting. It is getting to the point where I am pissed off because I don't know what is causing the piss poor video quality. Nostalgia Critic, Linkara, Film Brain, and Cinema Snob don't have this problem at all. Their videos are just as good as they've ever been. The problem just seems to be with the three that I mentioned. And I'm seriously weirded out that no one has mentioned it.

Good use of gags here. Loved the visual of Brad popping up at the mention of carbonated donuts.
I can see potentional as seriously random comedy if the right sort of tweaks had been made.
I think it was hard to get this liscense off the ground because it was like TMNT. People are wary about going up against powerhouse franchises because winning over a core audience with them around, is pretty damn difficult.

I had no idea that they even tried to make a Battletoads cartoon, although, by this point, I really should just assume that there has been an adaptation of nearly everything I can think of, because it's probably out there somewhere.
Good video CR! I loved your animation for the kinds of people you'd find in that store at night and the jokes throughout. You really do have a great talent for drawing and videos. Keep up the good work mate.

Didn't the Battletoads do a crossover with the Ninja Turtles? I distinctly remember seeing that as a kid, but it may have been a strange form of insanity brought on by loving the turtles so much.
I tried looking it up, couldn't find anything, but I distinctly remember a scene with them arguing. I'm sure it was from the 80's cartoon (called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in the UK). Am I going mad?

From what I heard, though, the Battletoads franchise is a licensing nightmare. Even though Rare made the games, technically Tradewest owns the franchise, and if I am not mistaken, that company went under. So if any company that wants to revive this franchise they would have to jump over a lot of legal hurdles and folk over a lot of money before they can even start planning it.
Of course I may be wrong, though, so someone please feel free to correct me as I read this years ago and don't remember the exact details.
Oh and great distaff counterpart joke there, CR!
