I also love Futurama CR, although I didn't know that they were making new episodes. That's awesome! What channel are they appearing on?
Of your picks, I'd say the ones I would like to see the most are the Gypsy Bot, the Professor's Creations, President Glab, The Simpsons, and the Whale Biologist, with the Whale Biologist and the Simpsons being the most wanted.
Great list and video CR. I also have to say I loved the Monty Python clip and of course ...
the Hypnotoad. It was the best part and should be featured in every episode as the only thing present. ;)

06.27.2010 - 01:48 | Just a GigoloI saw the new episodes, and I was disappointed. It felt like it was nothing more than fan service, like those crummy movies. I'm certain the only reason they're doing this is for a cheap cash in.
I also kept on thinking I was watching some really awful fan fic, so I'm not going to be tuning into the new episodes. When you've seen fan fics that have better endings, you know you have problems.

yeah, I kind of agree, but not totally. The first two episodes did definitely feel like a ton of fan service. (SO MUCH GRATUITOUS NUDITY!!) But you can't totally blame them considering the fans have been deprived for so long. I figure I'll give them a little more time to warm up and get going before I judge if it's really still good.
It was an intelligent show (what with the plethora of geek in-jokes) and the movies were very enjoyable and had much of the same spirit of the series. I don't feel any of it is being done just for "a cheap cash in." Of course, time will tell. I really think you should give it a few more episodes to see if they really are just pandering to the audience now or if the writers are still as clever an passionate about the show as ever (ignoring the subtle advertising they HAVE to put in these days to compensate for TiVo and such letting you skip the commercials. )
Now I really do think all good things must come to an end. Especially before it goes stale. We'll soon see if Futurama has another few good years in it or if they should have faded into that wild green yonder.

Bender says: "But how is this happy meal toy supposed to save us from something we call a death sphere?"
Hermese says: "Well now I've heard everything... on my iPod."
sure they've made references to products from our time, but usually by a different (and sometimes clever) name rather than it's name directly. Like 7-11 is 7 to the 11th power. Admiral Crunch and Archduke Chocula. And all the computers, while they look like Macs, don't actually say Mac.

06.27.2010 - 02:16 | HimA nice episode but I felt that a lot of the characters HAD to stay in their single episode or else or else they'd lose their value. Still, good viewing

....what about Fnog? He was a pretty good one shot character, and was a great rival for Leela. Plus who doesn't love some good ol' fashion Sexism from an Asian martial arts fly creature? Leela kicking butt never gets old, and bringing Fnog back for a shot at revenge or another confrontation just seems like a good move.

06.27.2010 - 02:26 | SteelteethInteresting claiming to be a fan whilst pointing out the monodimensional characters, sight gags and disposable situations used to make the original series work.
-
06.27.2010 - 03:16 | DerenMost of those minor characters are the type that writers make up on the spot whenever the situation demands it. They don't have a life of their own, nor is a show like this big on continuity.

Yes, the second one was cheap fanservice, but that's sort of the concept of Leela... it wasn't that funny, but not so terrible either (some scenes were funny), I saw it as an early episode to get things started, to get the writers warm, so to speak (no cheap pun intended)

06.27.2010 - 03:13 | LokiholicThe Star Trek version of the Brains would probably be the Ferengi. If Futurama does keep up the trend, they probably will come up with their own Borg, which would be awesome indeed.
