I dunno, I actually really liked Doug as a kid even if it wasn't too over the top funny and had simple stories. I liked Hey Arnold too but I think I preferred Doug. I guess it was cause I thought Arnold was a bland main character. Helga was a pretty cool character, she makes Doug's Patti adoration look like a mild attraction by comparison.

CR! Where have you been, man? I missed you're unique brand of humor. I've noticed the jokes seemed a little riskier in this episode for some reason, but I still found it hilarious and very entertaining as usual. Your one of the funniest contributors on this site, and FF is one of my favorite series. I honestly just wish it was posted more regularly.
BTW, loved the Yugioh Abridged reference, it totally made my day.

Hey CR nice FF, if I had to do a little constructive critisism don't use so many refrences. You keep my attention already because you annalize the character so closly and make them easy to learn about. The refrences just threw me off.
P.S. Was that Skeeter subplot where the idea for the movie came from? :huh:

06.08.2010 - 22:47 | Coolclaytonyok turns out i over reacted. you've only been gone a month. much longer than i had originaly to be. but it just feels like forever man. I like how you can find characters in media who where over looked by their shows writers and rarley got any decent attention when it would probobly raise their ratings more to have characters, like connie for example become a much more prominant element in the series. Thats why i dream of remaking all those under appreciated shows (or in dougs case carry on where it left off) and go in a direction with them that the writers where to stupid or to stubborn to take.

I mean they had rights to it at that point. there was nothing stopping them from encouraging the writers to make her a vital character. Hell, i feel they could have squeezed several more seasons out of the show just by doing that. That is how much i think Connie was underappreciated. My older cousins who got bored with the show after disney bought it would have protested the shows cancelation if disney had made the new sexier, rockstar-ier,and entergetic Connie a main character.

I'm also a big fan of your animation and title cards for other critics shows / comics.
I was wondering though would you happen to know how much progress you've made with your Quest 64 Lets Play? I've really gotten attached to part 1 and cannot wait to see more.

Just to emphasize on how much i would have liked it if Connie was a main character i will truthfully tell you that i would have stabbed myself in the leg if it would convince disney to put connie in a much brighter spotlight.

If they made her new musical talent better (like having better written songs) it would have been a pretty damn awesome story to see her get a big role. She's more interesting than Patti I thought.

When I heard you on Transmisson Awesome hinting at who this episode was going to be on I was positive it was going to be Mrs. Dink. You mentioned it was going to be on the female that changed the most and I thought of frumpy housewife turned mayor. But then again it's been a long ass time since I've seen this show and you tend to single out the near forgotten characters. The fact that I had forgotten about Connie just adds more to that theme.
Still, loved this show as a kid and was very happy to watch this regaurdless of how stupid I feel. :confused:

I only watched this show for Mr. Dink. Even at 8 years old I thought Doug (the character) exaggerated too much. I came to this realization as I was using my father's 1970s monster stereo as a hybrid Ghostbusters Containment Unit/Apollo Command Module... You know... for ghosts in space... People die in space, I've read it in stories.

Great review you've done here. This is definitely one of my personal favorite shows of the original Nicktoons while growing up.
For some reason, I just couldn't get into the Disney version of Doug, tried as I might...guess with the change of hands, the growing up and all, it was probably a "bit much" for me to take in at once.
But yeah, with you mentioning about Connie for this episode, I knew you were going to do this sometime after seeing your fan pics you've done on DA.
With the way you focused on how she changed and grew up from one version to the next, that was pretty cool.
Definitely want to see more of what else you can do for FF. :)

Ah I remember this cartoon. Grew up with it. I'm glad at the final episode Patty actually asks Doug on a date. She finally realizes that he cares for her. Connie was awesome I kind of wish they had her more lol.
The honking was freaking awesome!!!!
