O.K. I have to regard this because I'm a hardcore anime fan (if you say narutard, your a communist) and I dont wanna come off as a douchebag but...did you seriously just say nintaro? I've heard narooto, nawuto, nerooto even narata, (I seriously hate when they say narooto you shorten the u, pronunciate the a, thus, naruto they say it in the show and yet people still mispronounce it) but I mean, seriously?...I mean im glad you know what naruto hentai is (:D or for your sake I'm glad I guess) but...fuck what a mispronunciation, I hope I dont come off as a douchebag even though I probably am, love familiar faces, but fuck that mispronunciation pissed me off!!! But, otherwise an extremley good list!!!

04.10.2010 - 20:45 | EbalanceI've also heard Naturo... yeah... I find it hella funny when people do that now... it used to really get on my nerves when people mispronounced Pok'emon... especially when they said "pokey man" or when they tried to make it plural incorrectly... the plural of pok'emon is pok'emon, not "pokey-mans" WTF?! Yeah... I'll chalk this one up to honest slip-up... but it is a little annoying...
what do you have against communists?
new word there... mispronouncation? Is that a new word for "pronoun trouble?"

-
03.21.2012 - 22:52 | BloodrealmOh, the pluralization really pisses me off, too. The plural of a japanese word is the same as the word itself. It's not ninjas, it's ninja (that's the most comon one).
You know, every time someone says "pokeeman", I should ask them if them if they pronounce "pocket" as "pockeet" or "monster" as "manster".
I've never heard "Naturo" before. I've only ever heard "Narootoo". So I ask them if they pronounce "Toronto" as "Toorontoo".
-
04.11.2010 - 12:16 | houiostesmoirasI'm pretty sure CR was trying to be funny (by implying that, as a fan of retro American cartoons, he doesn't know much about anime, or just purposely mangling it as badly as possible, something like that), and thus instead of saying the title properly, said what sounds like a portmanteau of "ninja" and "Hamtaro." In much the same fashion as my father, who never paid much attention to my tastes in cartoons but knew I liked something Japanese, would say things like, "Go watch your henty cartoons," except probably on purpose for humor.
-
04.10.2010 - 20:11 | ArtenadoI wasnt aware that half of these cartoons existed. Thank god for the internet, because I know what I'll be doing for the next few days. I'll be looking these up, and I have you to thank.
-
04.10.2010 - 20:15 | claudiaNice list, I actually remembered a few of those.
A clip from your video reminded me of another somewhat frogot animated these song from The Critic. The show was sort of hit or miss to me but I loved to opening, even if it was only an instrumental.
Not sure if that one was as obscure as the ones you listed though.
-
I'm sorry CR but i believe Thundercats or Transformers were the greatest openings but all the other openings you listed were actually very very cool and i would watch them if given the chance.Stil, THUNDERCATS F***ING RULES!!!!!!!

For a list of "Forgotten" openings, it either doesn't apply to me, or I just watched WAY too much TV in the past.
I didn't know of 11 or 10, but the rest I did. I loved Bionic 6, Bots, and ALF when I was a kid. I have the DVDs of Duck Man. Cyber Six was really trippy when they had it on Teletoon with Aeon Flux.
I gotta say though, I'm a bit surprised that Visionaries isn't up there. The opening was sweet, yet it only lasted 13 episodes.
Still a great list and a trip down memory lane.

-
04.10.2010 - 20:40 | EbalanceHow about the Epic theme song for DK's Eyewitness program? Now that's awesome... interesting list... I don't think I ever actually saw these shows... probably just a little too old for me to remember...
-
04.10.2010 - 20:40 | JMShearerThis was one of the better "Top However Many" videos I've seen here in awhile. I quite liked getting a little exposure to shows I hadn't heard of before.
And just to be a bit of a fanboy for Samurai Pizza Cats, I remember reading someplace, several years ago now, that the original show was written as a parody anyway, and that when it was brought over here, the original audio and scripts got wrecked or some such thing, so the people in charge of dubbing cut loose and did their own parody sort of thing with what was left. I won't claim there's much accuracy to that, but I do recall having heard something like that once.
Anyway, great list. I look forward to more.

And to CR. Cybersix, yes! I barely watched it as a child, but the theme song was stuck in my head for years. Just started watching it on youtube. Yes, folks all the episodes as far as I know are there.
Too bad there's no soundtrack AKA full song though. :(

WHY!? why are you so patriotic for this site. Thier is paying omage and then there is steal the witty ideas. "Nostalgia critic does top 11s so I will do top 11s. Linkara says "WYSIWYG" so I will say "WYSIWYG"
And what is this crap about this being the "definitive TGWTG list" For someone who puts the most effort into burglary you really bring the least to the site.
Get your own style or get lost! and as I always say Either way I'm eating tonight. you suck

Wow, so many of those openings have come back to me like a dump truck of memories. So many of those I remember, and other than the ones I've never seen, I completely agree with this list.
I hope you know that I'm now going to have to see if I can track down some of those shows on the 'net now, just because you made me remember those shows. I wonder how many of those are available on DVD.

For Samurai Pizza Cats you can find it if you know where to look http:// www.amazon.com/Samurai- Pizza-Cats-Boxset-DVD/dp/ B000WXDK8E/ref=sr_1_1? ie=UTF8&s=dvd& qid=1270965866&sr=8-1- spell and if you have the cash, if all else fails there are companies out there that release unofficial box-sets on DVD and do it *cough* legally via copyright loopholes.

Wait Til You Father Gets Home, Duckman, Dilbert, Samurai Pizza Cats, Jumanji, and Cybersix especially are the only ones I've actually back in the day. Though with Cybersix I swear I'm the only one amongst my friends who remembers that show. It was on Fox kids for a brief period of time. Never saw the Alph cartoon but dang the intro does sound catchy

This is a great list! I didn't recognize a lot of them but Dilbert was always on Teletoon and I never really understood it but I remembered I loved that opening. I use to watch Samurai Pizza cats when I was like 5 and to this day still love it to bits. I remember Jumaji VAGUELY...as in I remember it being on TV but nothing really about the show.
But HELL YES CYBERSIX IS LOVE. It aired on Teletoon up here in Canada when I was young and the art style, the song and the story caught my little child mind and completely entertained me to no end. I was so sad when it ended after one season. She was one of the people I would say "If I was a superhero, I would wanna be like HER." Not to mention I freakin LOVED her hat. About a year ago I revisited the series because I had a dream about the song...last time I checked it was quite literally impossible to get region DVD's of the show, which is a shame.
-
03.21.2012 - 23:00 | BloodrealmI remember Cybersix on Teletoon, too! Most of the art was fine, but I could never get past the freakish rectangles of hair on people's forearms and the backs of their heads... Seriously, it distracted me through EVERYTHING else in the show.
-
unlike most list on here, this has got to be one of the first where I was familiar with most of them. Heck I can even remember what network most of the ones I did see was on!
Samurai Pizza Cats- morning times on my local Fox network.
Duckman- at night USA.
Wait till your father get's home- Cartoonnetwork sometime before Adult swim really got big..
really 65 episodes? why?! So many other good shows that could have used those!
-
04.10.2010 - 21:12 | los-chainbirdOh hell yes!! I loved Cybersix! I used to wake up at 6am just to watch it. It actually had a live action show in Argentina too, but what I saw of it was boring...
I never got the newt fetus in the opening though.. and it never shows up in the series, where they gonna show a test tube baby and then thought they had to censor it by making it an animal?
