10.14.2012 - 16:46 | HaogarI have to say i actually liked this movie, i never liked in any slasher, well i actually don't like the slasher genre so much, but i never liked the "ohhh he was alive at end" bs, i liked this movie as a stand alone film, but of course, they made a sequel, and i never watched it, so let's see what's up with that next time

Though I believe Scream has the best opening in horror.
RZ's Halloween reminds me of Marilyn Manson back in the day: just tries too hard.
Can't wait for your take on the sequel, I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes before turning it off.

During Moarte's (Linkara's) LOTD review on Jason vs. Jason X, I stated that I'm not a fan of 80's horror movies due to trauma that my, back then, very douch-baggy cousins and my jerk of a brother inflicted on me, a very young child at the time, by watching them and making me watch them even though I didn't want to.
That being said, I never liked the original. It scared me. It still scares me. When people come around in that mask, I freak out and cry like a baby. I once called the police on one of my brother's friends- yes his friend- because he put on the Micheal Meyers mask and jumpsuit, and stood outside my house, and windows, and just watched. It scared the bejesus out of me. And while no one got arrested that night, and nothing worse than me screaming and cussing at him made it so that no one did such a prank again, I'd do it again if anyone ever tried to prank me that way.
Anyway, that was all stated to go on and say this: This movie is not as scary or as the original. At all. Zombie uses perversion, immorality, and over-all horrible behavior to make it 'horror', rather than sticking to the original concept: a killer born a killer will kill and not stop until he dies. That's terrifying enough. And if they're trying to make Micheal scary, then don't try to make us feel sorry for him by giving him 'reasons' for his insanity. If he was killing small animals with a douch-bag family, he would still have done it if he had a good, stable family. Lots of serial killers in real-life who exhibited this behavior had 'normal' families, or stable house-holds. If you're saying, 'Well, he had the beginning mentality of a killer, BUT BUT he was also a tortured, sad kid,' you take away the horror of the idea of someone being born just plain evil and monstrous. That takes any idea that he's possibly a real monster out of the equation, makes him human, and makes him NOT SCARY.
Good review E-Rod. Good luck on the sequel.

My older cousins also made me watch horror movies when I was really little, and I too was traumatized. I didn't see Halloween, though. I saw It, Child's Play, Scream, among others. I didn't see Halloween until high school, and by that point, I decided to conquer my fear of horror movies, or any other fear. So, I'm not afraid anymore, and I hope the same will happen to you.

10.14.2012 - 18:00 | anonexistentuserDude, if seeing Juni swear was too much for you (assuming that's all there is of it in the whole movie), do yourself a favor and don't watch "World's Greatest Dad." Unless you were just playing up your reaction for the sake of the joke, in which case you should totally see that movie because it's awesome.

People either praise Zombie for The Devil's Rejects, or bash him for the Halloweens? Why are people so closed minded: I happen to be of a more compromising nature, and am able to praise Devil's Rejects, AND bash Halloween 1 and 2.
Thing is, as a Halloween remake, this sucks, period! He took everything that made Michael work and killed it. The WORST thing you can do is make Michael human; and he made him not only human, but mundane, stole all mystery from him, all fear from him, and turned him into a seven foot redneck that wanted to fuck his sister! It was the wrong thing for the series. However, I can't completed condemn the movie. If you can ignore and pretend that is has nothing to do with Halloween, while I still can't call it good, the potential for a good movie is there if he had A, not called it Halloween and B, stuck to the premise of the first half of the film, skipping the remake part of it. The idea of relationship between the doctor and the boy could have been good, but they rushed past it too fast to get to the second half. So in closing, it sucked, but it did have potential to be better. The sequel on the other hand, Oh God!

10.14.2012 - 20:58 | JoeDawson15Decent remake, def. not as good as the first one, but i digress. Everything here and almost everybodies not very likable excpet for Laurie, and it def. has a RZ feel to it, 70's hair, alotta cameos from celebrites from that era as well, and dark sets, parts i like, even though the only RZ films i've seen so far are this and H2. I like McDowell, Brad Dourif, Danny Trejo and Tyler Mane/Sabretooth is great as Michael Myers. But on a whole it seems kinda sterotypical of Michael to be insane b/c of the upbringing but that's me. Not terrible, but also not very good.

The movie did get it right BB. The hurting of animals is indicative of sociopathy, which does lead to being a serial killer. Taxidermy is more related to hunting animals than mutilation.
Though the Happy Tree Friends... Yeah, if you are a serious fan of that, I wouldn't be surprised by sociopathic behavior.

I actually like this movie, and I do like Rob Zombie's movies, though I only seen Devil's Rejects. But I can see the love and effort he tries to put in.
BTW, mutilating animals is not normal dude. In fact, that's a sure sign of him being a killer. As for Micheal's escape, what version are you watching? Because I'm pretty sure he was being escorted by security than being disturbed by a maintenance guy and Chester A. Bum.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that they don't exist, but rather that every person ever (like this movie seems to think) isn't one. As he pointed out, the family is a bunch of douche bags, and that's pretty much expected with someone who murders them all while he's a kid, but the rest of the world outside of it doesn't have to be nothing but douche bags. There were literally maybe 2 likable, pleasant people in the whole movie. And while douche bags definitely exist, that's not the proper ratio. There IS a middle ground for normal people.

Just curious.....
Let's say Michael Myers WASN'T the patient in the room.
Don't the worst case scenarios STILL VASTLY outweigh any possible good ones?
(Yes, I do realize I'm suggesting the rape of a mental patient HAS a "best case Scenario." That's the world I live in.)

eRod if you find those characters unbelievable I have to say....you haven't spent much time around white trash have you?
I say that as a white man who grew up and still lives in Alabama. I am an intelligent college graduate and I love this state, it's not nearly as bad as everyone thinks it is, but white trash is always on the fringes of everything that goes on here.
Though I do find it weird that the nice well-off people who adopted Lori put up with that kinda shit from her.

I want to see new awesome slasher movies, not rehashes.
At least there are some interesting slasher-like movies that I have seen lately. But they tend to be almost picking fun at them while also celebrating them. Cabin in the Woods and Dale and Tucker vs Evil. Cabin is much much better, and I love the idea of Dale and Tucker, just hate the forced love interest some of these comedies have that they really just don't need (think The Sitter and that random chick that used to go to the main chara's school. yeah stupid FRI !)

Why is everyone in this movie so perverted? When I saw the original Halloween, I loved Laurie's character because she was so different from other girls in movies. She was a plain jane, especially compared to her friends. Yet, she was strong, and ended up a hero. I really related to her. So, to see her as a hot, horny teenager, pisses me off. D:

i liked his halloween much better than the original one
because it developed michael myers's character; in the original he was practicaly a supernatural force, taking gunshots, crashes, falls and always getting back up easily
