I've been wondering why do they call it f-bomb anyway?
Honestly it's a silly description if you ask me.
What's wrong with the more logical description f-word.
Also I guess it's cause I'm from Holland but the word fuck doesn't really have much impact here. It's used just as casually as the word shit here.
As such it doesn't bother me.

01.23.2010 - 00:43 | Wade Wilsonoh, fuck you, you suck as reviewer you just drop the f word more then you talk about the movie I liked the movie but that not why i'm saying this because people have done a review of movies i liked and I could see where they would comeing form, you just need to clear out and retry your hole thing all over again. You fail if you retry and not put out your first crappy copy there are one or two thinks i can see good about you if you learned how to do a review. like in 14:08 and 16:06 I am with you 100%

01.23.2010 - 10:13 | Apathetic One Mr. Wade Wilson...what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
You should stop coming on this website...

The first time I saw Boondock Saints, I liked it. The second time, I started seeing the flaws in it.
Despite that, I put the movie in the same 'entertainment vein' as Six String Samurai. These are the kinds of movies that you know are bad, and they know they're bad, so they try to take advantage of it. There's a name for this kind of movie but for the life of me I can't put my finger on it. Of course they're trying to get at it like Quentin Tarantino does, but I suspect that only Quentin Tarantino can do Quentin Tarantino.
That being said, I found the first Boondock Saints good but trying a bit too hard, like the kid at your Junior High School talent show who tried to play Smoke on the Water on his acoustic but he kept having to start verses over cause he was going too fast so everyone had to wait for him. He didn't play bad by any means, he got all the notes right, but the rhythm was off and he needed to scale his expectations back a bit.
If the second one is trying even harder I'll just skip over it. As far as your review, I understand where you're coming from.

yeah, people i go to highschool with, i remember them talking how "badass" the first film was.
there the type of kids that think of themselves as "hardcore" just because they listen to loud music and get drunk.
so, i can see why some people would like the first one. i didn't like it, though. like you said, it did feel like they were trying so hard to be "cool"
this second one, i might see. just sounds so stupid and goofy, i might have fun with it. or, probably end up hating it and myself for watching it.

I'll be the first to admit that both Duffy and his movies are far from perfect. But, because of the fact that I do like the BDS films enough to call myself a fan, I'll admit some bias here.
However, you're being quite the hypocrite with this video. You hate Duffy because you can sense the pretentiousness in his dialogue you say? Well, if you hate pretentiousness, one would think you'd do more to keep your own in check.
Stating why you don't like the movie is perfectly fine. But saying such things as I felt like a sheep in a pack of retarded wolves and I really HOPE you're not a fan of this movie, as if to say that anyone who enjoys this movie must be a clueless idiot who's below your intellectual plane? Well, that makes you guilty of the very same smugness you claim to hate in someone else's character. Stones, glass houses and all that, man...
-
01.23.2010 - 10:25 | Apathetic OneI think he's right, you are just a clueless idiot who's below everyone's intellectual plane...if you can't take an opinion, don't watch movie reviews.

I'll grant that the first one isn't the greatest movie of all time, still I enjoyed it well enough to like it. That's my opinion, and you've got your opinion. Chaque'un au son gout. I thought it did some interesting things with the flashbacks and it had some funny lines. Anyways, I mainly wanted to point out that the reason they couldn't re-use David Della Rocco's character as the sidekick is that, well, they kind of SPOILER ALERT ( for those who don't already know and care ) killed him in the first movie. They may have this whole religious theme, but they aren't bringing people back from the dead. As for the psychopath thing, they do at least limit themselves to mob guys. Is that a full pardon? No, but it's a little bit of credit for them. As for All Saint's Day, haven't seen it yet, don't know how it'll be, and odds are that at this rate I won't go to see it in the theaters.
-
I have friends(females) who just go on and on and on and on about how great these movies are. And all I want to say is "You're just interested in seeing the two guys with their shirts off for 90+ minutes. It's just a man-candy show and get over it."
face it, if they weren't all sweaty and topless, you wouldn't care about this.

01.23.2010 - 04:01 | dicnarI hated the Boondock Saints, I'm happy that I'm not alone with that opinian. I hated it. It was one of those movies that was "made to be cult" and that dosen't work this way.
-
01.23.2010 - 04:17 | Thumper17I respect opinions. I understand people don't like movies.
But you go in, and you diss Willem Dafoes best performance ever and then cut ME down for liking it calling me a retarded wolf?
Fuck you, you have no right to an opinion if your going to missuse it like that. Go shit in your own mouth and gargle.
-
01.23.2010 - 05:03 | hellsfoxesOh wow Thumper... well why don't you go on rotten tomatoes and then write that to every one of hundreds of critics that hated the shit out of this film....
don't be such a baby

For trying to come off as a NC echo, this isn't cutting it. You really need to edit your videos and insert what you can to keep the review entertaining. Moviebob, NC, Paw, and countless youtube videos do basic editing.
If you keep it short and sweet, with more than just the low-res camera and the occasional cat than I can see this series going somewhere. The audience needs something more than just a Vlog type video to be amused. Use some video editing software and make this series something really entertaining.
-
01.23.2010 - 04:57 | hellsfoxesDude this guy was making his vids way before and TGWTG just offered to host them... Spoony does vlogs exactly the same... why don't you go make some videos yourself and STFU. This is free entertainment and nothing to do with NC.

You gave a really good account of yourself...
Sometimes shit just doesn't seem like shit to some people.
I myself can't understand why some people laugh at some shows on adult swim that seem entirely retarded and utterly ludicrous to the point of making no sense and having no genuine comedy... maybe thats the point... they just want to be hip or they don't understand what makes real comedy funny.
Boondock Saints is one of those things that I think Americans who can't distinguish the subtle directing maturity that really makes films like True Romance, Snatch and Lock Stock work, beneath all the dialogue and posing... they can't tell the difference when faced with something full of random dialogue, guns and posing... but with a smug narrow minded donkey directing.

I see people complaining that this is a poor excuse for a NC type rip off, but unlike them, I go to the sites of the people I like.
This review wasn't part of the Cinema Snob series, it's just a review by the person who does the series. It's no different than Spoony's vlog reviews.
People, before you make accusations look shit up.
-
01.23.2010 - 09:21 | Richard WeskerFigures, a guy I know at work with the maturity level of a 6-year-old swears by these fucking movies. I have not seen them, but honestly, I'm morbidly curious about the second one now, at least.

I am a little disappointed in your review. Mainly because your review is a little disjointed. Kind of out of order. We have to wait 7 min in before you tell us the plot we have little idea what characters are in it.
You have great ideas on this I just wish you would organize your videos a bit better.
You were great about giving us an example of the poor dialogue. I would appreciate more quantitative commentary like that. Giving examples really helps me understand your points. I like them. Please give us more.
I know making these videos isn't easy. Thank you for reviewing these movies. Please continue. I know you will only improve. Looking forward to the next review.
-
01.23.2010 - 11:03 | darkpatriot85I didn't think the first movie was all that bad. It wasn't El Mariachi or Reservoir Dogs but it's not supposed to be. I just don't like the people that obsess over it like it's The Godfather. It's bad enough with Star Trek and anime.
-
01.23.2010 - 11:26 | ozzy554i really liked both of them. The boondock saints series are just the kind of movies that you eaither love them or hate them.

Let me explain, genius. If you had actually read my post, you'd have figured out that I don't object at all to him stating his opinion. I object to him passing judgment on those who don't share it.
