Okay, the ways you said this movie could've been "improved" sound really cliched.

Dunno why, but whenever I see the title, my brain crosses over "Boogie Nights" with "1,001 Arabian Nights."

You could probably write & direct a no-budget shot-on-shiteo movie that's better than this adaptation.

Sounds like you would have preferred Stephen King's Salem's Lot. The book, at least. That's pretty much the exact plot of the book you described.

Great review, this movie was allright as a zombie movie.. Also it had a positive role for a Trencher for once.

In order to be a failure of a vampire or zombie, all one need do is take a single bite of the victim before moving right on to the next. It's like a bunch of kids set loose in a chocolate bunny factory that only eat the ears.

Well, she's yet to review Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned as Bennett had pointed out, seeing how she has not seen the movie (at the time of shooting at least). Assuming Maven doesn't have a copy, she'd either have to purchase it or get someone to give it to her, and even then she might have to deal with Linkara once more.

As for this movie, you pretty much summed up my feelings about it (slow, boring, sucks) so I won't repeat, but I will add one thing that bugged me: the vampires in this seem to be directly ripped off from John Carpenter's Vampires. (I kept waiting for Jack Crow to show up and kick some ass, but it never happened)

Thank you! Within Temptation is a band that I feel not enough people know about and I'm glad to hear them twice in this video. Good thing they had two songs with themes of "cold".

As for the review of the movie, yet another comic not done justice. Not really surprised anymore in that regard. It happens a lot to movies.

30 Days of Night (the trailer) gave me a bit of a chill from the line where the girl is pleading to God, then the vampire says "no God" before she is killed. I thought that was good in the sense of taking away a person's hope in their final moments.

...this had a sequel? Wow.

Could you review Lament of the Lamb? It's kind of vampire story.

Linkara man I know you had to put maven in her place but... no...just no. bad linkara, bad. I mean there is evil and then there is evil but you just took it to a whole new dimension here.

You know I genuinly would have liked to hear Linkara's take on 30 days of night....Bad Maven bad.

This is such an awkward way to learn Ben Templesmith's name. Me and my friends have made fun of him so much because of his Silent Hill and Dead Space comics. Every last monster and character in those just kind of screamed and cursed as loud as possible while making hilarious faces. We'd never seen anyone destroy horror and atmosphere so badly that they turned into rage comics.

Maybe those just happened to be duds with bad writing. I'll check out the 30 Days comic to see if it did better than his other comics or this movie. Though if it turns out the little vampire girl with ridonkulous lines is a faithful adaptation, it would explain so much.

I wonder if Linkara was cut off so he could cover this title for his own Halloween review. If so, well-played.

It mostly works there because of the use of coloring, but frankly I still dislike his art immensely. It's not good for sequential storytelling and he lacks consistent character models, instead going for scratches and sometimes vague blobs and shapes for people and monsters, IMHO. In addition, he lacks backgrounds.

I honestly don't really get what people see in a lot of his work. 30 Days of Night works IN SPITE of his artistic choices, not because of them. I think the only time I actually liked his art style was in Doctor Who: The Whispering Gallery. It actually kind of worked there, though hard to say why.

I rather enjoyed what I have read of his Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse. I think perhaps his style just lends itself to stories that have more comedy and weirdness to them. Of course, I am the type who enjoys the novelty of unique styles, but I was not as happy with his werewolf book.

I believe Templesmith may also the kind of creator who needs someone to tell him to lower the amount of his style he injects into things. I am a fan of many of Tim Burton's works, but recognize that he also has a tendency to over-saturate his creations with his signature style. This is most jarring when creators like that are providing the visuals to someone else's story.

Poor Maven. I've chosen the slow burning death of waiting for the dawn in a shaft like Claudia than to accept such a heinous task.

And,yeah,this movie could've been a lot better. I remember back than a lot of people going apeshit over this movie and I found the last 40 minutes to be impossibly slow.

Fuck that shit. That shit is her Gehenna.
