02.25.2012 - 04:56 | YouAskedForItThank you so much for reminding me of the Oscars. I saw your video on the main page, and thought I might have missed them, since I haven't heard anything about them for a week. Me excited, and I'll watch your video before I watch the expressionism awards.

02.25.2012 - 12:06 | littleliliIf you have IFC then, check their listings for this week. Normally they will chunk all the short films that were nominated after the Oscars or right before them. It was how I got to see The West Bank Story the year that that one won.

Wasn't expecting to get such good info on the Oscars Shorts from N-Chick. I never miss The Oscars (not because I believe that they are the ultimate measure of movie quality, but simply for the spectacle) and this helps enhance the experience. Thank you.
PS. You look better without the pigtails.

I enjoyed The Shore more than you. Of course, I really enjoyed Waking Ned Devine and that film where Craig Ferguson and Brenda Blethyn deal pot, so maybe I am more inclined to like that kind of film. However, in my opinion, the best one of these was clearly Tuba Atlantic. Black comedy tends to work best in short films.
And as for finding them in cornfield suburbia. I live in Kansas City and I found the program at the best of the art houses. The Tivoli does an excellent job.

I miss when Showtime Network had a short film showcase. There were a few years that a couple of friends and I had favorites for both nominations and winners in this category. At least they're showing the nominated films on IFC. *shrug*

God the live action/animated short, the only guaranteed Irish nominations each year (cept that one year the horribly overrated Secret Of Kells was up for best animated feature (though I think that was cus there was a minimum of 3 nominations & there was nothing else out that year)). I know one is Northern Irish, but our dipshit media will take credit for them both. Well the actually Irish one looks like condescending film board shit made my D4/Trinners gowlbags about "de cuntry peepol" and all their foibles.
Wow, that was more negative than I intended. The inherent rubbishness of contemporary Irish culture (Arts & Popular) just gets to me.
