I don't know what it is, but I'm more wondering how she gets EVERYONE to do these embarrassing things! The total cameo count for NChick videos easily outnumbers every other reviewer on the site, and almost all of them are people either singing, dancing, or otherwise doing things that people laugh at them for (although some are quite good at singing and/or dancing....)

Lewis Carlton-dancing at the end was one of the cutest dork moments I've ever seen! 'Twas my favorite!
And I love the bit analyzing and compare/contrasting Urkel nerd to Carlton nerd. There is indeed a huge difference, and I'd really love for someone to go into further detail at some point on this subject.
What a great finish to the Will Smith month-ish! Thanks for the fun (and knowledge)!

My two favorite shows back in the day were "The Cosby Show" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air". I absolutely loved the Phil Buni and the Andre the Black nerd cameos in this review! Andre was also super cool in the recent episode of Wil Wheaton's Tabletop as well! :D
Let us Carlton Dance Forever!
I never considered Carlton to be a nerd though, yet I always thought there was a difference between nerds and yuppies.

06.17.2012 - 11:11 | KarriIt's kinda funny that Alfonso Ribeiro absolutely hates that dance.
I'm kinda sad that one of my favorite gags wasn't included. The one where they would throw a ragdoll mockup of the character through the air and dub in their scream, which Married With Children also did a fair bit.

-
06.17.2012 - 00:17 | SledgomaticA long time ago, back before Fresh Prince ever aired, I heard that it was Alfonso Ribeiro who taught Michael Jackson how to moonwalk. Maybe just a rumor. I dunno.
-
06.17.2012 - 00:17 | einooWow, I was surprised at just how many people you got to do the dance. I guess because it doesn't take too long to film, but still, damn, that was a lot!

06.17.2012 - 00:21 | thisithisCalling Alfonso Ribeiro's character Carlton Banks, the first black geeky character. That's more of a yes and a no. There was a show before The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, that had a black geeky character called Silver Spoons, and also played by Alfonso Ribeiro. I think he came about Season 2 or Season 3. But yeah, look it up. :)

I have to respectfully disagree with that. Alfonso's character on Silver Spoons whose name was...Alfonso, was not written as a nerdy or geeky character. As a matter of fact in an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the time, Alfonso said his character was there to be the cool guy who taught the main character, Rick, to loosen up. Sure he probably was seen as a nerd to some viewers, but he wasn't presented this way. Alfonso was know for dancing with MJ in a Pepsi commercial and performer on Broadway as the Tap Dance Kid. When I saw him play Carlton, I was disappointed because I knew he would be typecast as a corny, grooveless guy, and he wasn't going to REALLY dance a lot on the show. I think the role of Carlton ruined his career imo.

Alfonso was suckling on the teet of Broadway long before Fresh Prince ever aired. I remember when he used to tap dance with the late great Ben Verene and Gregory Hines. Alfonso Riberio can not only dance, but he can also sing. He may have other musical talents that I don't know of, but he is definitely a child of Broadway.

Great ending I loved the Cameos and the Black Nerd I am surprised you got him
It was great seeing all the reviewers dancing (Nash's face was the beast) but there is one I do not recagnise, the Robot puppet that appeared after Phil Buni, who is that and what is he on.

06.17.2012 - 00:48 | SixSeven83Great Episode Nostalgia Chick. Growing up a Black Nerd from a middle class background, I identify with Carlton. Especially his naivete. The episode where he and Will pledge a Black Fraternity but he gets treated badly because the Big Brother thinks he's a "sellout" always resonated with me.
People thought that just because I dressed a certain way, or spoke a certain way, they didn't consider me "black enough. Whatever the fuck that means.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air along with Martin were my favorite sitcoms growing up.
To Sledgomatic's question as to did Alfonso Ribeiro teach Michael Jackson how to do the Moonwalk. He didn't, a guy by the name of Jeffery Daniel who was a Soul Train Dancer and sang in the R&B group Shalamar was the one who taught Michael.
Here he is performing the move when it was called the Backslide.

You gotta move your hips WITH your arms, and kinda stick your but out while you're doing it.
Ha! I loved this show.
One more thing - I wonder why Will Smith would make fun of Carlton for not being "black" enough but he never said anything to Hillary?
Anyway, great review! I'm definitely going to be checking out this Black Nerd dude . . .

06.17.2012 - 01:27 | SetzyTBThis was a wonderful video and really put a smile on my face. Particularly the end dance montage with everyone in it. :)
Fresh Prince was definitely a favorite of mine growing up and my brothers and I still request Apache to do the other dance at parties whenever possible.
How does she get the Rap Critic to keep doing embarrassing things, I wonder? I'm thinking blackmail.
