God I loved the My Little Pony series! They had a cartoon series out on Disney and I used to watched it as religiously as a conservative Tea Party protester watches FOX news!
I also watched the movie and even had three my little pony toys, I tell ya when I watched the episode that showed a little pony character that looked exactly like mine...it was like Christmas and my birthday all wrapped up into one glorious package :)

Gods how I lurve Nella (sp?). It goes beyond love into lurve territory, and that's a damn hard territory to get into.
I don't really like the random background music. Whatever though, it's nothing really distracting (like in the Titanic one)
Never watched My Little Pony, my "HORSEY!" phase started with The Lord of the Rings, so my love of horses mostly involved live action war horses. Happy singing pink ponies were nowhere near that territory.
Egads, that second song was the most annoying song I've heard in my life. Geesh, there's a difference between cutesy voices and plain headache inducing screeching.
OMG, those aren't amorphous blobs, those are Adipose! Pony adipose! Ahem...not that I have to connect everything to Doctor Who
Hilarious review though! I love Nella's melodrama...I'd watch it, sadly.

I really enjoyed Nella in this video. I personally never really interacted with the ponies. Are we ever going to get into the barbies? You practically didn't get your girl license unless you had at least one barbie.

By that logic I had my girl license before I had my boy license (I didn't really get into 'boy toys' until lego and barbies and MLP's were way me-friendlier at a younger age.)

I always appreciate the effort in the videos, but where are the jokes? I always find myself concentrating on the constant " Boys had it so much better! Women are constantly stereotyped! " thing.

I'll say this now. Anytime someone on here says something about Lindsay's hair (or Nella's, too), everyone takes a shot of Jack. We'll be tipsy in about four hours.
I pity you, L, for having to suffer through critiquing the movie; Nella's story sounds WAY more interesting. And the songs.... (shudders disgustingly)
Hint for a future piece: since you had Gaga & Bjork as background music, maybe we could hear what you think of them. Now I'm gonna have to dig out my Daft Punk stuff. "Celebrate and dance so free... / ONE MORE TIME!"

I noticed that too. Stylistically, this definitely, at times, felt heavily inspired by the RLM reviews. Some of the cuts/edits, the semi-montage/wrap-up near the end, and as you mentioned, "What's wrong with your face/eyes?!".

Okay, is anyone else itching for a weekly series based on Nella's My Little Pony Odyssy?
Funny, I may have owned a My Little Pony growing up but I never really watched the cartoon or the movie (I was more of a Disney, "Rainbow Brite", "Sailor Moon" kid) but good lord, ponies with stoner red eyes and whiny child voices should never attempt to sing again!
At least a little Daft Punk in the background alleviated some of that pain.
Fun review!

That was the first special.
Some of the series actually had legitimate conflict and the occasional interesting plots at times. But maybe I just only ever saw the good episodes Xp
The later series are all more in-line with the 'light on conflict' thing though.

I think I'm one of maybe two guys in existence who watched My Little Pony. SHUT UP! YOU DON'T KNOW ME! Besides this movie, I only remember one episode where ponies were being kidnapped by dragons and turned into monsters by this demonic centaur who wanted to bring about eternal darkness. Now that was cool. Especially compared to the crap you reviewed here. And yet, I still can't remember any of the ponies names. At least the Care Bears had some personalities and names you could remember.

Great review, NChick, but one thing I did notice that you didn't mention was this:
You mentioned the comparison to Transformers, then mentioned how bad the music was. You could have compared the music between the two movies.
One movie had really silly, very poorly sang Disney reject songs. The other movie had awesome power ballads.

God i remember when my sister did her horsie thing. A room full of horses, like literally bursting with horses. Some the annoying hard plastic kind that i stepped on and hurt my foot on. Augh terrible memories haunted by horses until she gave them all away.

It doesn't do any real harm to the reviews other than serve as a minor annoyance/hot button topic. And aside from the Token chick video which was kind of a one sided rant, the rest are fine and quite entertaining.
May not be your cup of tea but I wouldn't blame the feminism for it.
