Mace is Olenna's son, not her husband. ;-)
But yeah, she's one of the biggest badasses in the show without ever touching a weapon. I hope that her role will be greatly expanded from the books...

If Joffrey's and Margaery's marriage had really gone through, either she would have poisoned him anyway later down the line or Ser Loras would have stabbed him to death over one insult or another, even assuming that Joff wouldn't later start to mistreat his sister. There is literally no path that Joffrey could have taken where someone wouldn't have murdered him for the sake of common decency sooner or later. I suspect that even Tywin was starting to wonder if it'd be too late just to try again with Tommen.

I never saw Joffrey as the "main villain" of the story, if you can even say there is one. He never had any agency in any of the great events; he never had any real power outside the walls of King's Landing, for that matter. He was just a little shit with delusions of grandeur. It's Tywin Lannister who's been running the show from the start and he's not going to quit just because his snivelly little grandson got himself murdered.

Shae and Tyrion's relationship dynamic has changed so much in the show that I legitimately feel sad about what's going to happen later on in that plot thread. I mean I felt bad before, but these new elements have upped the stakes. I sure hope they don't turn Bronn into a traitor, because he's so awesome in the show.

Joffrey never felt that important in the grand scheme of things. The show has plenty of villains to take his whiny place. Jack Gleeson was a great actor. It's a shame he's retiring from acting now that the show is done w/ him.

Jon isn't so bad, at least in the books. The show has made him kinda pouty, always smoldering for the camera, but that's more Kit Harrington's lack of range than the character.

I love how the show is leading into Cersei being a complete basket case that genuinely thinks she's as clever as her dad. I remember in season 2 when Tywin told Arya that she reminded him of his daughter and all I could think was, really? Arya is way smarter than Cersei.
  • Omicron Warrior
Well, one of Tywin's flaws is his inability to judge his children. The evidence in the show and the books suggests he never believes Jaime and Cersei had a sexual relationship. He wants to see the best in his "golden twins," and always sees the worst in his 'freak' youngest child.

Theon was always too pathetic to be that hate-able, if that's even a word. Even when he was "on top" it was just kind of sad to watch.

But as for Tyrion, I'm sure the entire fandom is worried about him, but we will still be partying like Rock Stars until next Sunday. I'm sure GOT will depress us in appropriate fashion then.

To be fair, my favorite villain has always been Littlefinger. When Joffrey kills someone, 1 person dies, when Littlefinger kills someone, everyone goes to war.
  • Daemian Lucifer
Ramsay is not replacement joffrey though, because he is likable, mostly because unlike the idiot king he is smart and competent.
  • Lightice
Ramsay isn't remotely smart. He doesn't think an inch ahead of what he happens to consider amusing at the moment. Remember how he killed his own men just to play a trick on Theon in the last season? And as Roose has to explain to him in this episode, Theon could have been used to get rid of the Ironborn in the North, if not for Ramsay's pointless torture fetish. Ramsay is going to get himself and the entire House Bolton killed simply by being too big of a scum for anyone in the North to tolerate for all that long.

He is strong and, to an extent, brave. That's the extent of his virtues. Everything else about him can be summed up as "bloodthirsty idiot".
  • Omicron Warrior
If you think Joffrey is the biggest villain, you haven't been paying attention. He was certainly pettier and a bigger jerk. But actually count his bodies compared to Cersei, Tywin, Khal Drogo, or even the far subtler Littlefinger and Joffrey is a lightweight.

Thing is, Joffrey might had been biggest asshole in series but I just can't consider him as villain. He is more this spoiled brat who finds pleasure from being asshole towards everyone else and show his power.

Am i the only one who has Jon Snow as my favorite character?
  • SaskRider  - JOFFREY'S DEAD!!!
I'm glad that little shit is gone.

I agree that, while the death was justified, I will miss seeing Joffrey being the little brat he was because it was so enjoyable to watch. There was just something about his insane mentality that was both creepy and unsettling, because you did not know what he would do next or what would set him off.

The last, briefly shining moment in the travesty that was A Song of Ice and Fire.

I actually like how he went out, not in a glorious battle on the fields fighting enemies, not even a battle of wit, but just being arrogant and choking on some wine like the glutton little shit he is. He started to turn purple to show what he really is on the inside, a sadistic little monster. He went out like a bitch and that's the best death you can give to a character who doesn't deserve to die the honorable way.

Also, we still have Tyrion, Ayra, the Martells, and Dany for heros. And Cersi is now going to be the new baddie for this show. Remember, she was his mother, where do you think he got part of his sadistic little brain?
  • Ebalance
Personally I think he choked, not was poisoned, but I don't think it was an accident, either. I think Margery killed Joffrey. She was the only person to really gain from his death. Tyrion didn't do it. He's too smart for that... revenge... who would have had time to plot that far ahead? But Magery was in the right place at the right time and had the most to gain, therefore, I think she "done him in."

I HATE STANSIS B/C He's a little bitch who let an insane lady murder his brother, who was a genuinely nice guy, and b/c he hangs out with her ALL THE TIME AND SHE IS SO ANNOYING!!! I just want her GONE... I don't care how... GET HER OFF THE SHOW!!!

One wiener next to another...seriously, I've tried both reading and watching GoT, it bores me to tears.
  • beqa  - Mace Tyrell

Honestly, I felt that in the books Mace Tyrell was one of the most intriguing characters, don't discount him so much yet, I think something might still happen with him, at least in the books :)
  • Daemian Lucifer
By the way,did anyone think of "Ding dong, the witch is dead" when joffrey died?
  • wordforger
It's kind of like the Hundred Years' War. The original players are not the end players, and the original reason for fighting may give way to other reasons.

I love this episode, aside from finally killing of Jeoffrey which is something I have been praying for ever since Lady was executed. It is just a good episode with a lot of emotion and atmosphere.

About Sansa and Tyrion, with just one moment their "marriage" was shown to be the most equal out of all overs in King's Landing and nearly everywhere else and they were unwilling to marry. Sansa helped Tyrion through a hard moment when he was being mocked in front of a crowd, the exact opposite happened back in season 2 when Tyrion saved Sansa from Jeoffrey's cruelty.

Both are in the same boat, regularly mocked and always at the focus of Jeoffrey and his sadism.

God I have loved to see more screen time with the two, despite it all they were really bonding and probably the only person the over had to endure the humiliation. They were equals at this point.

...I guess it was unavoidable though, considering where the story goes.
  • Ericho  - I liked this
I'm surprised this has a higher view. I mean, your regular Nostalgia Chick video are better. Granted, I'm not really a fan of those that much either. I still enjoyed this, even though I do not watch the show. It's so popular, it's hard not to get into it. It is always interesting to look about what your sincere thoughts on something is.

My favorite bad guy is Roose Bolton. Littlefinger is marvelous in the books but Aidan Gillen's portrayal is awful. It takes away almost everything the character represents in the books. Roose Bolton on the other hand is almost perfected by Michael McElhatton's acting. It's a pity his carefully crafted schemes couldn't be translated to screen (how he manages to sabotage Robb early in the story and undermine most of the other northern house's army as well as manipulate Walder Frey with hostages to maintain his role in the Red Wedding a plausible deniability) but the creators basically screwed most of his amazing moments in order to favor other characters and increase the "shock factor" in the Red Wedding.
Roose is so cold and sadistic that is a joy to read about him and see him in the screen. His polite demeanor yet completely callous, nihilistic attitude towards everything (even his own legacy) makes for a really enigmatic and interesting villain. He keeps Ramsay in line when he is around but it's clear his uncontrollable bastard is his biggest liability. I'm expecting a big showdown of Roose Bolton next season as his role will expand and I HOPE D&D will decide to promote Michael McElhatton to main cast. A great actor for a great role!
