I really think the author needs to have her religion play some part in how the book is put together, like how Mormonism influenced Meyers.

Even funnier would be to make it really, really blatant but have the author still pretend like her religion had nothing to do with it.

I also would like the idea of the author being a guy who writes under a female pseudonym. Obviously, you wouldn't tell people that's what was going on, but you could drop a few hints in the bio.

That way you'd get a little Harry Potter in there, too. (As J.K. Rowling pretended to be a guy for a while.)

And on that note, I think s/he should be a Scientologist.
  • Kefke_Wren
That would be good, with the "Divine Alien Beings" aspect already there. The problem is that the Scientologists are rich, and will pursue anything that casts them in a negative light with the ferocity of a rabid bloodhound.

I do have an idea for the bio, though. The author should be from New Mexico...and I'm not saying it should be Roswell, but it should totally imply Roswel. They ought to claim to be a HUGE fan of Lovecraft, and claim the book as their "tribute to him", while speaking of his work in only the vaguest terms.

Oh, and I second "Ashleigh" as the name, but they need to have a middle initial in there too. Like, "Ashleigh R. Cunningham" (moving EpicFish's "Rose" to the middle for maximum pretentiousness). Bonus points for Ashleigh/Ashley actually being a unisex name, which fits into what trlkly said about an unsubtle Male-as-Female author.

well you couldn't bastardize it more then twilight did the Olympic Peninsula. Jessica would've been high as a kite, Mike would have long dirty hair wearing a dirty home made kilt, and the ethnic friends probably wouldn't live there anyways.

You should make this in the New Adult genre, which is a genre that's currently "big" right now and has a huge fanbase. Literally all the books from that genre have the same content--a girl who's over 18 that's probably in college meets a hot sexy badboy who she can't seem to resist, and then there's something else sprinkled into the storyline like a murder mystery or whatever that's of course overshadowed by the main characters' romance and the guy's hot sexiness. Many many teen girls squeal about these types of books over on Goodreads.

Well... I wasn't chosen, oh well... I wish them luck in their book... And maybe I will finally get over my fear at trying to get published...

You could always do the same thing and pretend to be the rival of this author. Both see each others writing as very different but both people are very similar.

then not only will there be teams in the books but teams for which author is better ^_^

I think after this, you need to write a 50 Shades fanfic book. All human, all horny, all rich, and make Cthulhu's big sexy secret that he's an illegal alien who's running from the IRS. After him and legobrick have sex 20 times in one day. Just suggesting.

I get the feeling one might as well just take a horror story and reword anything scary into some form of "love"

Love. Let me tell you how much I've come to love you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'love' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the love I feel for you at this micro-instant. For you. Love. Love.

Seems legit, if a bit late to notice

    Suggestion for pen names:
    Renee Adams (part from Renesmee)

    Nellie Quint (from Nella)

Lauren Bell (for some reason I've only known bitchy girls named Lauren, but girls named Laura are quite sweet)

I'd go with Ashley Rose. And instead of spelling it "Ashley", spell it "Ashleigh" as the author's not-so-subtle-but-she- thinks-it-totally-is message to the public that she's 'speshul' like Lego Brick by having this pretty name with unconventional spelling.

I think the name should be an amalgamation of the main characters' names.

have the creator be a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant housewife from Texas, who never graduated high-school because she got married as soon as it was possible

also, have her go on long rants about how there's no such thing as domestic violence, and that women should be punished for getting raped
  • Mothmouth
There's nothing "pure" or "innocent" about any of this...which is why IT IS AWESOME.

Pen name? I'd go with "Amelia Snark". Too out there?

The 1970 movie ‘The Dunwich Horror’, staring Sandra Dee,
and a young Dean Stockwell, is loosely based on the H.P. Lovecraft
    story of the some name.
For the sake of research, I recommend reading the story : and viewing the film also.
The poster for the movie is DELIGHTFULLY … lurid.
And while it is no ‘Frankenstein, it delivers dark and scary feelings,
as well as a little of Sandra Dees’ skin, (light bondage too!).
I’m easily entertained, so I’m not at all offended by the
commercialization of a valued work of art for a budget movie,
(besides, Sandra Dee was sooo HOT!). Oh my gosh the scary monster
just crawled through my screen! “Eeeeeeeek!!!” …

    How about this:

Chastity Ravenwing was born in midwestern suburbia to an irresponsible, non-martyr-complex mother Abigail and a well-meaning-though- abtouse father William (just like Shakespeare! Wow!). She spent her teen nights reading fanfics on fanfiction.net before it was cool. She lives in a high-rise apartment in New York City with her Indian Ringneck Arjun (his "Indian-ness" inspired her in writing the ethnic third wheel--that and her love of garlic naan and chicken tikka masala because that is the "height" of Indian food)and on the weekends she flies back home to her ranch where she rides wild stallions through amber shades of grain (obvious take on waves of grain). While she likes Cliff Notes Shakespeare (especially Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1996 filmed version), she absolutely adores Danielle Steele and Chicken Soup for the Soul. Her sassy-black-best-friend's husband is a CEO of "Iridescent Dream-Wishers" and took it upon himself to publish her soulful manuscript, and here, in your very hands, is the first edition, of this anthology of Chastity Ravenwing's soul.

A suggestion for the fake author's name: Shae D. Green. A little homage to the project's title.

The author's name should be Mercedes Rosewater.

I hope you talk to some industry people, I really do. Shouldn't be to hard to get a statement, but some honesty however....

The name of the author should stand out but at the same time have little flavor or ironic

I was thinking the name Euphemia(yoo-FEM-ee-?) Jones. Nickname Eppie or Effie

    Euphemia meaning "to speak well"

or a play on the name Mary Sue that's not so on the nose First name: Marianna, Maurine (Pronounce: maw-REEN or MAWR-een) Or Mirabella
    Last Name Zsuzsi or Shoshana

    Current favorite: Maurine Shoshana
because she can get in to a Facebook fight with someone saying "The urine in your name is proof you writing is piss poor" (or something like that)

BIO: when she was younger she would walk 3 miles to a library, just to sit and read romance novels for hours (reading classics and one vague book that was her favorite). She always loved writing but never though her work was good enough to publish. Her friends and family kept telling her work was so great and begged for a copy.

    Thoughts/Opinions?

I just came across this and I think Lindsey and Nella need one for inspiration (not for how cute and adorable it is).

You could go with an amalgamation of your names like L.N. Insellis. Using your initials also makes it look like you're imitating more successful authors like J.K. Rowling and H.P. Lovecraft.
  • SchrodingersCat  - Suggestions for the author's name
It could be something like "Paula Mary Smith".
And "she" could go by "P.M. Smith".

    Or maybe Anna Conda.

Or Isla Mary Boreinge (AKA "I.M. Boreinge")

I just realized how much cultural research you guys are doing with this project, whether you've realized it or not. Keep a hold of your research sources and what you find out, and you could probably publish an article on your findings for Anthropology sake :D
  • Ericho  - I'm back!
Well, it's the first time in forever since I've posted here. I guess I just had to put in my user name and do the rest. I hope this lasts. Anyway, it seems like a Twilight with Cthluthu was only inevitable. Kudos to "Warm Bodies" for having the best version of this. That's a tall glass.
