you have to be an idiot to drive in the snow like that. The first car must have been drunk though. You don't keep pressing down on the pedal after you crash!

Holy crap, is this entire city block populated only by alcoholics who've never seen ice before??? It IS possible to get around in that stuff if you know what you're doing.

You see, the thing about Oregon is: IT NEVER SNOWS. As a someone who has lived in Eugene, I can say this: When we see ONE snow flake, you can bet your boots that school is closed. I'm serious. That's a lot of snow for Oregon. I live in Colorado, now, and I'm from Alaska, so that snow is nothing. But my point is: They're not alcoholics or idiots, they just never see snow.

Hey, I live in Portland. All the roads were coated in ice that year. I could barely walk down the sidewalk.

My guess is that not that many people there see snow that often, so when it does come, then people don't know what to do and how to drive.
Also, they aren't using tires made for snow, so they get almost no grip at all on icy roads.
Notice how that red car at 0:40~1:10 just skies sideways

Two words, folks: TRI-MET!

No, we don't get a whole lot of snow in Portland. When we do, however, it's disastrous. I remember one year in high school when my Christmas break was doubled because of how badly it snowed.

No, there are usually only two kinds of winter days in Portland: Either it's kinda cold and raining bullets or fucking cold and totally dry. And let me tell you, we can handle rain with the best of them. We Oregonians know how to handle rain.

Oh, and what the above poster said about Bend is absolutely true. They get all the snow, for some reason. It's like a foot thick every year, from November 'til February. It's not easy to deal with, but it's lovely.

As a parting comment, remember: It's not the snow that hurts you, it's the ice.

Portland, MAINE is a completely different story. Severe snow storms happen early and often in what I like to call "Lower Canada" and the only good part about that is, Mainers know how to drive in it!

Coming from that background, watching this video just confuses me. I mean... what the hell were they doing? I can't even begin to fathom how you could get a car to perform those stunts on an icy road. Just go slow, brake softly, turn softly and generally try not to drive like an ass....

XD I live in northern Maine and this is hilarious to me. smilies/grin.gif You think it'd be common sense to be careful driving on ice. Even if they haven't seen it before.
