You need to realise that creatures in the 28 ____ Later series are no, in fact, zombies. There are humans infected with a virus that overrides all emotions, thought or personality and creates mindless, rage-addled killing machines.
They are not dead. Nor undead. This would explain why they can run, talk, and can be killed any way a human can.

While I think "Dawn of the Dead" is one of the best horror film ever made. I agree that "Day of the Dead" is the best installment in the "Dead" series.
The main reason this film was never released to theaters: The Trailer.
Once the trailer premiered online the outcry of rage by fans forced the producers to make it a straight-to-dvd release in hopes it would be forgotten as quickly as possible. But how could it? It's a Romero remake. While the "Dawn" remake wasn't anything spectacular, it was workable and fun. That filmed whetted the beaks of horror fans and I think most people were curious about this film. Now, before it's release this curiosity sprung from a general interest in what could be done with Romero's film. Now I believe it springs from a need to see how truly bad this film is.
I too, suffered from this plague-like curiosity. I am very glad you made this review so I could witness the travesty that is this film. However, in no way am I surprised by this film being this bad. The director is Steve Miner. A hack of a director who has made only two good films: "House' and "Friday The 13th Part 3 (in 3D)". However, he also made "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later", this remake, and "Texas Rangers" a film with a 2% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Now, on to your actual review. I liked it. However, you should pick up the pace, slightly. And the whole studio audience laughter thing is so tired and distracting.
Keep that guess the character bit, that is hilarious. Best part of the video.

I think the remake of Dawn was ok. I mean, not as good as the original, but I would say that 2/3 of the movie stay true to the original (I would have loved raiders... I think its fitting... in a zombie apocalypse, there would be people who think that since there's no law enforcement, there's no law... :( )
