I watched this long ago when I was very young and knew almost nothing about life, the universe and everything.

Yes, I guess it sucks, but hey, I was a fan of Michael Jordan...like everuyone else.

It brings tears to my eyes to watch a bad movie being torn apart that way, just to make me happy.

Thanx maistro.

My brother and I used to watch this all the time when I was about ten years old. And even back then, I thought Michael was an awful actor.

It was funny to see Dan Castellaneta and the mum from 'Everybody Loves Raymond' randomly in the crowd.

This film was sucky.

Thanks for the entertaining review

I think the thing with Lola was less offensive for younger kids who didn't know that the sexualization of animals was perverted. And there are a lot of people on the internet who would like to f*** Lola Bunny. Maybe not a real bunny but an anthropomorphic bunny. You probably know who these people are.

My favorite story about this steaming turd of a movie came from voice actor extraordinaire Billy West, who voiced Bugs and Elmer in this movie. When he got his invitation to the premiere at Grauman's Chinese, he noticed that all the voice actors were being shoved into a screening at the SMALLER theater, not the big one with all the movie stars. When West inquired about it, the answer he got was, "Oh, the big theater is for the ACTORS."

The cokeheads who greenlit Space Jam (and, I might add, Batman & Robin) didn't know shit about the characters they were dealing with, or even the animation process itself.

Incidentally, have you seen Looney Tunes: Back In Action? It's actually pretty decent. Not a perfect movie, but it's a fucking masterpiece compared to Space Damn.

You've obviously never heard of Furries. Lola Bunny is probably a major reason why their are so many of them today (Other then Disney's Robbin Hood or Krystal from StarFox Adventures).

Space Jam has fundamentally warped the collective mind of an entire generation!

For many of us who did indeed love the film as children (OK, I did too, I'm guilty), we loved it simply because our innocent minds had not yet been tainted with the knowledge of concepts like marketing and product placement...

Of course afterwards, we all realized that this film is just... well... how does one put it, blasphemy?

I remember the promotion for this film when it was first coming out, and as I live in the Chicagoland area, and this was during the period of Jordan's "second coming", the "Repeat Three-peat", it received move coverage than perhaps in other parts of the country. I recall that then Chicago Tribune film critic, the late Gene Siskel, sitting down with Jordan in an interview and telling him right to his face that his performance was "flawless". smilies/cheesy.gif I wonder whether he was in film critic mode or Bulls Fan mode at that time?

Lola is sexy to appeal to Bugs who is a rabbit so he being attracted to another rabbit makes perfect sense. That's like saying that bugs dressed as a woman in the old cartoons was meant to appeal to men sexually, I highly doubt it.

When have the loony toons ever been particularly funny?

Complaining about things not making sense in a mostly cartoon universe seems pretty redundant.

Space Jam is a good kids movie. I liked it as a kid and I still like it as part of that genre.

Uhhh, talking about Lola. Where should I start? Well, I think that Lola is not that bad for kids. Sure, they gave her... uh... Bunny boobies... If you compare this to the earlier days of cartoon shows, this is really benign. I only say...

Tex Avery:
A male wolf tries to get a gal in a "very, VERY meager) red to do...uhm... We never thought about what would happen if he would succeed because we were too young and dumb. But nowadays...!

or Extreme Dinosaur:
The blue gal with the... well... is it D or already E??? And did somebody say a word. No, because the kids didn't get it. They only saw the fun in the series, the dinosaurs, the boo... bombastic fun ^^;;

Or Bugs Bunny himself! How often did he disguis himself as a girl to fool Elmar or someone else?? How should we understand this? Was he a tranny? Couldn't he us male costumes or was he dedictate to wear female cloths when the camera was off. Yeah, I know, it's a cartoon... sorry, I forgot myself.

I could go one and one with more examples, but what I like to say it, that THIS is pretty benign... really benign. In our days, women characters are different designed that in the earlier day because more and more influences are involving the drawings. That's also involving the so-called "athropomorphic" characters such as Lola, Berri from Conker Bad Fur Day or Krystal from StarFox. I mean, yeah... I'm a furry artist and YES... I draw when not often... erotic arts... go ahead and kill me for it if you like, but that does not mean that I would like to hump animals *shivers* This is plain sick, man!

The idea to make women characters in cartoon shows is as old as the branch itself, because they don't want to entertain kids, but also older viewers (I only say Animaniacs smilies/wink.gif ). So, if you think it's wrong for kids, I can only say keep your hair on. It's only a cartoon and the fun should be important... not bunny... or other... boobies.

At long last (yeah, this was one damn murder post),I would say that there is one sentence which fit perfectly into topic as closing word:

"Keep fantasy and reality apart from each other, or you'll be a psycho!"

Weird thing is; I like it. But I can understand you if you don't, Nostalgia Critic. But still... I dig the aliens, I dig the looneys, the music, the game and so on...
And about Lola Bunny: she is in fact a fable bunny. She resembles a human being, but more bunny-alike. A lot of people finds this attractive, and some don't. It's a weird way to confuse what the human nature gets turned on by or not.

Very funny review man, but honestly, I loved this movie as a kid and I watched it over and over. As a kid I never noticed product placement so I didn't even know there were commercials with bugs and MJ in them.
So for me this movie will always be classic. I also used to love the designs for the aliens when they were huge, it looked really cool, and they had a cool theme song. Anyway, good review, not my opinion but good review.

I don't know what you're talking about, man. I love this movie! It may not have the best writing, but I still think this is a good movie. And why are you going off on Lola? I mean, sure she's a rabbit, but she IS a sexy rabbit. And FYI, she's not the only fur girl to have boobs. I mean, look...Gadget Hackwrench from Chip 'n Dale has them, every female in TaleSpin has them, Minerva Mink has them...need I go on? I guess you have to be into furries to understand, but, that's still no reason to go off on L.B.

Everyone knows the real reason Lola was created. To quash rumors of Bugs' homosexuality by giving him a female love interest! Okay, maybe not, but still and all, you'd be surprised how many guys actually do in fact want to bed Lola Bunny. Not me (mostly because I'm gay and therefore uninterested in anything with boobies, human or bunny), but she still has quite a....well, let's just say a devoted following of lonely young heterosexual men who still live with their parents.

"I didn't know Dan Ackroyd was in this movie!"
written by ElectronicaFan83, August 17, 2008
My mates raved about this movie back in 1997 and I was more into the Star Wars Special Edition being released at the time!

When I eventually watched it I thought it looked really glossy but had a god awful plot. Roger Rabbit worked brilliantly in terms of animation and live action but this was just a money grabbing attempt. I was also shocked that Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman was involved with this film.

I thought Seals' Fly Like An Eagle seemed so commercial at the time but R.Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly was really good when I first heard it.

Love your review though, loads of cool funny moments and the part where Granny got crushed by the bad guys repeatedly was the definative highlight! Great stuff!
