I want the power to turn my head and hear dramatic music.

I never knew they made a live action He-Man movie... oh god... what were they thinking?!?
-
01.04.2010 - 20:46 | perri-jp - Well...
There is only ONE reason you never knew about it... Listen carefully...
BECAUSE IT'S THE SINGLE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE!
(You know, next to Thirteen Ghosts, The Happening, I know What You Did Last Summer, Cool As Ice, and The Star Wars Holiday Special...)

By the way, what's with all the Gay and Mccain jokes?
Yes, we get that you're for Obama...
Funny video, though.
One of the best parts (IMO) was the dramatic head-turning montage.

08.11.2008 - 08:04 | Oatmeal - The essence... of blasphemy
How dare you call it gay. He's a guy with very little armor and furry underwear, so what? That kickass sword more than makes up for it. No, Masters of the Universe was religion back in the day. At least it's better than that robot cartoon, Transvestites or whatever.
-
06.25.2009 - 09:18 | Kurvos - ... right.
You know, mr "Oatmeal"; it's really pathetic when you try to make a show look good by comparing it to a great show by make fun of the name. And the sword is just a stock sword. And a sword can never make up for a fucking bad designed character. Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds? "Yeah, He-Man might look like a muscular sissy with a gay haircut; but at least his sword is cool."
You know; fanboys like you should just hide under your bed til you get real.
-
01.04.2010 - 20:54 | perri-jp - Yup
I can explain the sword situation here...
When Prince Adam was a small boy, his mother was chopping onions with her husband's small, yet capable french knife. However, in an instant, some juice squirted off of the onion and into her eye, which she was more than used to from a different source *wink*. With the slip of the knife castrated young Adam which lead to her son being teased at school for not having testicles to produce testosterone, thus making his blonde sissy hair curl gently under the blissful Eternian sky. Adam then grew up (with no taint of course) and found a sword 20 times larger than his father's tiny knife, which gave him the confidence to rip off his clothes and wear nothing but a harness and some super tight furry crotch-wear, where he stuffed potatoes to make up for his mother's clutsy taintous mistake. After accepting that he only has a huge sword and no junk, he kept his style as girly and homo-erotic as possible, playing it off as what he thought would catch on with Eternian youth, as he was a role model. The End

08.11.2008 - 08:08 | grande42xcom - I can't believe you forgot...
Critic, that was a great review, but you forgot the best part! The film maker's left it open for a sequel!!!! I think you need to make an addendum to this episode. How do I know this? Because I saw it in the theaters...when I was SIX YEARS OLD.
-
08.11.2008 - 08:12 | kevin_video
Yeah, I hated this movie as well. And no, He-Man's not gay. Possibly incestuous for his sister She-Ra, but not gay.
-
08.11.2008 - 08:15 | Ghostmayhem
Great quotes:
M. BIson: "OF COURSE!"
NC: "Mr. Clean" (referring to the bald cop-guy)
Dark Helmet: "FOOLED YOU!"
NC: "A gay-metalla Chiquita-Banana-nator...!"

OMG grande42xcom, you're completely right. I totally forgot about that too. It wasn't a bottomless pit, and Skeletor rises up from it's depths for the sequel that thankfully never came.

That was more of a chuckle-worthy Nostalgia Critic, but the head-turning montage definitely made me laugh really loud.
And the John McCain running gag was a highlight as well (and I like him as well).
Well, I'm off to put this film on my rental queue now.

This was one of the first movies I remember seeing where you were supposed to wait until after the credits to see the movie's punchline.
-
08.11.2008 - 08:23 | Underqwertyuiop
That was such a great review. I think it's one of my favourites now.
-
08.11.2008 - 08:24 | TylerDirty529 - Woot!
Great episode, Nostalgia Critic. The dramatic head-turning montage was awesome. xD
-
08.11.2008 - 08:26 | chakotay24 - THAT WAS DA SHIT
I never say that piece of shit and I'm glad I didn't. The only thing good about that conan reject is having Robert Duncan Mcneil as the boyfriend.

Well, what really surprised me was that they didn't stop the show after that point. They actually went on to make a renewed version of the original cartoon series, only except the story was told differently. But what do I know, I haven't seen the 80's series, I've only seen the series that came out in the 2000's later on.

08.11.2008 - 08:35 | spiceninja
I've never understood the appeal of He-Man. He's so stupid and this movie is awful.
-
08.11.2008 - 08:38 | Sephiroid - Oh come on...!
Ok sure, the cartoon was Conan The Homosexual, but the movie, it was ok back then. And you gotta admit, Sceletor was much better than his "I'm He-Man's little bitch" cartoon counterpart. I liked it that they made somewhat darker than the cartoon.
There are worst sexual imlications in a cartoon. Like the Smurfs.. 100 male smurfs and one female, Smurfette. Is this screaming gang-bang or what? Okay, Blue gang-bang. Whatever... You get my point.
Now if you want a gay cartoon, that would be SpongeBob Squarepants. Or Chris Crocker...
-
08.11.2008 - 08:49 | KiloWattKid
This was a pretty good NC one, the McCain jokes were priceless but the gay jokes went overboard
anyway, it was nice

I'm just wondering - would you have been happy if they did call Gwildor OrKo?? I mean if they did call him Orko you'd just say that they didn't make him look anything like he's suposed to. I think with this type of thing it's better to introduce a new character instead of fucking up an existing one.
-
08.11.2008 - 08:56 | vonFiedler
Even the the remake series was better than the old one, and who played He-Man in that?
Cam Clarke.
He-Man, gay as hell.
-
08.11.2008 - 08:57 | nsonic79 - the M. Bison quote shall never get old...
When I saw your releases I thought you'd be talking about the cartoon series. Little did I realize what you've created. It helped me see the movie in a different light. Never realized how it appeared to be. I feel so dirty
-
08.11.2008 - 09:03 | Punky - lol
damnn I remember watching this movie and thinking he-man can be my girlfriend. I'll better invite him to a pijama party. Good times ;D
-
08.11.2008 - 09:13 | TyVulpine
Heh, there's the (quick) scene from Star Trek: Generations when the planet blows up...
-
08.11.2008 - 09:15 | D.Glover
Quality review as always.
Good to see somebody knocking this film for what it is.
-
08.11.2008 - 09:31 | OuijaSlayer - Very good as always xD
I wish I had the power of dramatic head turning. ;D

NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I was wanting this to be old fond memories of the He-man cartoon show, not that stupid god-awful movie! C'mon, Critic, the He-man cartoon was awesome, why didn't you review that? This movie is best left forgotten forever!
And He-man was NOT gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) he was Bi-sexual!!!!!
