I decided to leave prince of tennis quite quickly after I started reading it.

I just didn’t see anything interesting in it, and I always thought that this show was just big pile of fan service to the girls.
Now that may not be such a bad thing if it did have other things to go for, but I really doubt that this thing had them. Not enough at least.

And the really great thing is that this thing has a sequel now, New Prince of Tennis.
Now how much would you like to read that?

I actually read and owned the series up to volume 27. I stopped after it since I found it completely unfulfilling and it was really uninteresting. I also dropped the series for a better sports series, which was Real.

I've got to say, there are a lot of 'ranters' on this site, and they're all very entertaining, but you honestly look like blood is on the verge of coming out of your ears. Damn, you are one angry guy.

Anyway, I've always thought quality counts more than quantity, as long as your shows keep being this good take as much time as you need to make them.

Well from what i can tell, POT just "shonen-ized" tennis just like most other sports-manga and anime do.
Eyeshield 31 is a good example of that, and even captain tsubasa had a lot of scratch-your-head moments.
But for some rason, i have a hard time seeing anything related to tennis as "badass". Especially when the cast consists only of girly looking pretty boys.

I guess you can't expect too much from a story that is focused solely on a sport like tennis. If the characters didn't come over as whiney bastards I could probably appreciate the DBZ-esque style of tennis.

Setounet and I have the same problem. Why is there blinkings in the manga panels? Doesn't effect the review but jjust a bit distracting

About your commentary on the other team having a stronger premise to follow, I wholeheartedly agree. I feel like various serials suffer the same issue, including Naruto.

In all seriousness, I feel Naruto would be better with the other teams (preferably Team Guy) as the central protagonists and Naruto's group as plot-driving rivals, having the world go to crap and the main heroes only indirectly tied to these issues.

:D Oh man, when I saw the video on the recent uploads list I said to myself "holy shit he's still going on about Prince of Tennis?" You poor poor man. I never had the slightest interest in this series but your rants about it are fantastic.

My friend at work loves the anime series. It never really looked interesting to me, honestly. I tend to stick with horror, social commentary (such as Battle Royale and Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit) and sc-fi when it comes to manga and anime.

Ah, I read a promo chapter in a shonen collection book. Thank you for confirming my suspicions about this series.

For an interesting set-up squandered, I'd recommend Vampire Doll, which could have been so much better. It also has one of the most hilarious/offensive/plain stupid representations of gay people. EVER. It's one of the dumbest things you'll see.
Also, definitely review Claymore, although I can see you disliking Raki.
