To what? Buying the DVD? If so, why even post such as nonsensical, pointless comment without any proper context behind it?

    Goddamn international shipping...

IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOU, I'D...

    um...

    I'D HAVE MORE STUFF!
  • sunnyl
Air Mail $4.30 Thursday Jul 11 - Monday Jul 22
Priority Mail International $32.00 Thursday Jul 11 - Monday Jul 22
Global Express Mail $41.00 Friday Jul 5 - Tuesday Jul 9

Why would anyone ever bother with Priority?
Seriously, almost 30 dollars more for the same delivery time, what's the point of this?
US Air Mail is very reasonable though.

Will buy this when I have a little spare cash, for the reviews and gun origins at least.
Just hope its IC and not "Renaissance Fair."

Still waiting for a DVD which is just the collected storylines minus the reviews.
  • Shlecky
Well, it's more of general fist-shaking at international shipping than this particularly. This one might not be much, but I've backed a lot on Kickstarter and had to swear it off for this summer because it added up to a lot, as well as stuff that couldn't be shipped over because of regulations.

you should put out a list with what episodes are included, like just a written one.

Shame you can't mail a check or Money Order or else I would buy the dvd.

Eh. Any sign of money transfer in the US getting less ass-backwards is plus in my book. It's a nightmare accommodating to the local infrastructure if you're commercially selling foreign imports.

Which doesn't really have anything to do with this here. But most of the inconveniences to the seller or employer banks are responsible for are directly caused by those banks catering to the lowest common denominator. Because it's easier to get people to open accounts when you demand the absolute least in return.

Please, please get the damn credit card, and maybe we can expect some turn for the better in the next... 30 years.
  • sunnyl
    Or just a debit mastercard/visa?.
Dunno about the US, its being a backward country and all, but here in Aus they are now the standard and the bank will give you one free if you only have an old card that won't work online.
Honestly, why pay extra for a cheque or money order?

Also direct transfers take days to go through.
  • Lightice
You still use checks in America? What's wrong with electronic transfer; it's been around for two decades, at least.
  • trepiechick
    avatar
Because people can steal your money that way? I had over $1500 of my loan money stolen when my debit numbers got hacked. I'm very hesitant on getting anymore cards.
  • fanime1

There's an option to use PayPal which is a pretty safe option. With PayPal, you can actually link it with your bank account. Takes a few days to verify that it's actually you, but at least it's safe.

MasterCard, Visa, and American Express sell credit card gift cards. They range in amounts from $25 to $250 and cost $4-$7. In Canada, you can buy them at every grocery store and gas station: I'm sure the US is no different. I've used them for years: It's a great way to shop online if you don't have a credit card, and a safe way to shop if you do.

I ordered it, I can think of worse things to get for 20 bucks like used toilets and Irate Gamer DVDs.
  • Airanuva
Bought it the same day the video was put on your blip channel. Oh the joys of paychecks and college scholarships...
  • Chicken Parma
Anyone know who the other people in the video are? (besides Lewis and Liz)
  • Linkara

A few friends of mine. The first one, Fes, is one of the hosts of the Webcomic Beacon and appeared during the Gunslinger storyline hwen Linkara was going to conventions.
  • Godotofwar  - Well this is sad...

Airmail is so bad (more than once it has delayed/downright lost my order) and other International Shipping&handling are actually expensive than the actual DVD and I live in Mexico!
  • sunnyl
I've had that happen with priority mail, air mail will be fine for me, I can wait a few extra weeks as long as the show remains weekly.

Seriously, 30 dollars extra for the4 same delivery time estimated?
And another 10 to maybe save a week?
  • Nostalgiacriticfangirl
    avatar
Sorry Linkara but I love the Nostalgia Critic more.

I'm not gonna waste 20 dollars on a boring dvd. I'd rather spend it on thatguywiththeglasses volume one dvd.

But that doesn't mean i'm not gonna stop loving you and your reviews.

I'm the Nostalgia Critic fangirl,I remember it so you don't have to.
  • ohe

I, uh, I don't think the "boring" there is very indicative.

I don't get the mentality that people have to post this stuff even though they have it in their mind. I mean, I actually have ADHD and Asperger, and speak whatever I have my on my heart (and people get really annoyed by it), but I don't know if it has anything to do with my diagnosies, however, these kind of comments are just... odd...

I understand that you do this for a living, and therefore you have to price things accordingly, but I really have to question the price of this DVD.

Revenue from sales of a product as a function of the price of that product forms approximately a bell curve: If it's too cheap it will sell more, but the revenue will not be very high (because producing the product has costs in itself, so the cost per unit has to cover at least that.) On the other hand, if it's too expensive it will sell less.

There's a sweet spot, the top of the bell curve, that all product manufacturers try to achieve. In other words, the price that will maximize purchases and revenue.

I'm not an expert, of course, but I have the gut feeling that $20 might be a bit too much. Even new blockbuster movies on DVD generally cost less than that.

The problem with pricing it too high is, of course, that not that many people will be inclined to buy it, and that will hurt sales.
  • canvasto3d
    avatar
Agreed. $10 - 15 USD is a good spot for this DVD. Anything less or more than is not good for him.

$20 USD is a little too high.
  • armagod679
He may not have control over the price. It is being printed by a third party, and they probably take a cut and this was the lowest price he could set that would turn any profit for him.

I self-published a book once, and while the book itself is not very long (or very good), I had to price it for twelve dollars to get any sort of money out of it because of the publisher's cut. I'm guessing the same sort of thing happened here.
  • Linkara
    avatar
I do have control over the price, actually (though the service, Kunaki, does indeed get a small cut).

I based the $20 price on what I saw other Channel Awesome Producers selling their material for (Cinema Snob, Nostalgia Critic, Ed Glaser, etc.). I'm planning on doing more DVDs in the future, so I'm thinking that as I release new DVDs, I'll lower the price, but that's a long way off. It was stressful enough trying to put THIS DVD together and I have other stuff I want to work on, but I'm sure there will be a point where I lower the price.
  • Thunderbang

Most brand new DVDs usually range from 14-20 dollars.
  • Ericho  - Woah!
Three new episodes? This puts the Nostalgia Critic's DVD to shame.
  • Linkara
    avatar
Well, to be fair, he puts a lot of extra material on his DVDs, and the Nostalgia Critic Reloaded DVD DOES have three reviews on it.

And when we come around to buying the AVGN Movie, there's going to be a promo with people talking about how much they love NC, and then they're going to be beaten or shat on or something :P That would be hilarious.

Awesome! I'll definitely be getting this as soon as I can!

Thanks for listening to our requests for more merchandise we can buy to support the show, Linkara!
  • Michin
20 bucks? wow. and whos that guy at 1:12?
  • BellaWinx
$20 is expensive for a DVD? That's usually what they cost. A DVD that costs $5 has either been available for awhile, or was crap to begin with. Most people think $20-$30 is a reasonable price for an average DVD/Blu-ray, and most people can afford it. If YOU can't afford it(That's not something to be ashamed of: Many people have tight budgets), that doesn't mean the product is overpriced: It just means that, right now, this product is out of your price range. I can't afford a $700 spa package, but I know that it's worth every nickel. Anyway, I bought the DVD, and I can't wait to see it. I hope you release more, Linkara.

    Region free? Ace.

    I might actually get this.

And this is without me having had any urges to buy NC based DVD's.

    What can I say?

    Or...
Glue based pun. I don't know. eBay?
