02.22.2010 - 08:53 | mr_rubinoI always thought it was "Mechkara". But I got heavily Jossed when Linkara called him Mechakara.

Nice to hear your thoughts on your epic level review special. I will admit, Power Rangers still holds a dear place in my heart because I loved it as a kid. Couldn't stop watching it. Sure, now I look back and know that it was a silly show, but I still love it. Keep up the awesome work, and looking forward to your next big thing.
One quick thing about Preacher. I am a fan. At least I was until somewhere halfway through. Still love how it started and the beginning adventures, but about halfway through the series, it just no longer clicked for me. And The Boys...disturbs me, but yet I still read it. Go figure.

I definitely enjoyed this. I wonder if there's any way to make it so that all the different personae that people use on the site could all get worked into a single video. I think this is the closest it is likely to get. And even your commentary for it was great!
Even if you don't ever find a way to top this I am glad it isn't a series finale. There are just too many comics ruining the reputation of the industry out there still to get into your hands on the couch.
I know it sounds creepy but why make Videos if you don't want it to happen "I'll be watching"

You're new, aren't you?

Is there a new Premium Access section? This commentary wasn't there when I checked.
In fact, a lot of the commentaries that have shown up on the site haven't been added.
The last time any commentaries have been added was April 1st, 2009.
Looking at the dates, nothing past Oct. 2009 has been added to the Premium Access, I must be missing something....

02.21.2010 - 23:05 | Sword-DemonI thoroughly enjoyed this commentary. However, there was one concept that I didn't get...okay two, actually. And a question.
1. If your magic gun had enough power to destroy life on multiple parallel universes, how is it that it was completely ineffective against MechaLinkara, and even the Countdown-Comic Monster? I mean, the Power Ranger knife was more effective, and we're supposed to believe that the gun is more powerful? What the heck? Can you please explain that?
2. Again with the gun. I understood the need to escalate power levels, and it was awesome to see you morph into 'Internet Reviewer', and see you fight MechaLinkara in that 'form' was an interesting twist. That, and the gun you got from the Cable episode made an awesome appearance, which was cool. However, this once again begs the question, if your original gun was so powerful, wouldn't it have made more sense to use that? I know this is basically a different version of the first question, but come on, you're premise has now splattered itself all over the walls, and is rotting in my brain. :S
On a plus note, this does bring up a question. Will we be seeing more of Dr. Insano in the future? While not a really 'threatening' type of villain, he reappears every so often and reminds you of SCIENCE! I personally think it would be kinda cool to see a science vs magic battle of you facing off against Dr. Insano. :woohoo:
I look forward to your next review. :)

02.21.2010 - 23:20 | Sword-DemonSo, what? You picked up a magic gun, and didn't read the manual? Then again, I probably wouldn't either. On the other hand, would it be possible to either learn more of it's background, or if that's not possible, seeing someone using it in a more powerful way?
Thanks for answering the question.

-
02.22.2010 - 10:36 | The Lion Ben Chis comments about why the gun is not as powerful when he uses it reminds me of what they say about Ghost Rider. Apperently while the spirit is extremly powerful it is limited by the human soul it is anchored to. Maybe Linkara's disgust at heros that kill make him reluctant to kill with his gun.
-
02.22.2010 - 17:14 | Sword-Demon...so he feels reluctant to up the power setting to fight a homicidal robot? Go figure.

02.21.2010 - 23:10 | LundarigirlA full review of Power Rangers, huh? Can't wait to see that. Although you stole my idea. I was gonna do one of my own. Oh well. No reason while I can't still do mine. I'm interested what you think of In Space, which is my fav season and Andros, who is my fav ranger.

Wooo commentary! I love commentary! I don't know why, I just do. :D
Well I gotta admire the buildup, at first Mechakara just seemed to be a nonsensical gag but then he started to appear more and more.
I dunno, Linkara, sounds like your parents were enjoying getting to "accidentally" whack you a bit too much.
Can't wait to see what you do for your next anniversary.

02.22.2010 - 00:00 | SalamandoTotally awesome, Linkara. I really liked how this evolved over time, and I loved the whole revalation of Mechakara as evil Poyo and comic booky backstory going on. It's everything that great comic books are made of: goofy as shit in a way that's awesome!

Am I the only one thinking Mecha-Kara's robot face look like Kano's mask in Mortal Kombat?
Anyway, great commentary, it was fun knowing what goes behind the scene :D and it's funny you have you're parent in there, it's unusual.
And love the ''you're in my way, sir'' reference :D That made me laugh so hard, that and Spoony breaking his foot on you're ass xD (You can add Spony on anything and the awesomeness goes through the roof lol)
Oh and near the end, you mentionned upsetting fan of, I already forgot what sorry..., but I think they're not real fans if they can't make fun of what they like, even if they're ''mean'' jokes. Oh well.
Thanks for the commentary :D I'll admit I don't know much, if anything, about Power Rangers, exept the theme song, but that was still very amusing and fun.

02.22.2010 - 00:24 | JagothPeople proabably arn't going to bleave me but I did notice you're jacket in the background dissapereing. I had watched your review eariler then when out into the liveing room and my roomate started to watch it so I kepted up agian. It was juring this second time that I noticed. I didn't think it was important enough to say then though lol. Also as someone above me metioned the mask made me think of Kano from Mortal Kombat and I half expected a joke about it. About the commentary I am glad you metioned where the "You're standing in my way" Came from because I haven't seen Spoony's Swat 4 videos. so I was a little lost there. Anyway it was a good show all around and I look forward to more from you. (And that should mean alot since I never really cared about comic's the only ones I read were the Sonic series.)

02.22.2010 - 01:20 | SuperBradA full Power Rangers review?!?! Oh goody, goody, goody...
But Linkara, without revealing too much of the future special, I am curious. From what span of time did you get interested in the show? Also, how do you feel also about the new remastered version of the first season that just came out?

-
02.22.2010 - 02:08 | SaturnYeah, I thought it would have been funny if Mecha-Kara was looking for your magic gun, found the pokeball, threw it, and was taken out by Pyramid Head. Oh, and as for the "killing" Pyramid Head, it's a pokemon! They don't die! They just get knocked out! Hey, I don't care about the Spoony bit; I love that you and Spoony's storylines are intertwined. Oh, and Mecha-Kara is really dead? Nice. Not that the guy wasn't a good character, but finality is nice in things like this. We don't have to worry about him coming back to haunt us. Anyways, great vid, nice commentary, always fun to listen to to get the creator's opinion on a work. Can't wait till the next vid!

Concerning the jacket disappearing...I just figured it fell off in the scuffle and that you left it on the floor as subtle indicator of a real struggle going on. I didn't realize there was only one jacket and it was split-screened.
Great work on the SFX in the video, and really nifty to see that you have so many prop guns.
By the way, the Pollo revelation did surprise me.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: you're really a great writer to keep a storyline going on over this many installments remain intrigueing for so long. Too bad many writers in the Failing Three don't have such a grasp on storytelling...then again, if they did, there'd be no more AT4W show, asnd that would make me sad. :( So let's hope for more horrible writing in comics and more Atop the Fourth Wall! :)

That was a very cool commentary, and I'd never have noticed the missing jacket if you hadn't mentioned it, Linkara. You're correct though, if your attention is focused on stuff in the background and not the foreground, something's wrong.
I do wonder how many takes it took you to do that Sword-to-Blaster though, because I'm guessing it's possible to do it fast but probably still pretty difficult.
-
02.22.2010 - 07:25 | First Person ShaneYou know, I just realized something. When MarzGurl posted an intro video to the site, she included a preview in which she and her friends became Power Rangers. And from the Cool World review, I gather that MarzGurl and Linkara are friends. Does this mean that Linkara is...A Sixth Ranger?! :woohoo:
Wow, it's pretty bad when I notice more continuity in stuff than the people who make it. XP

And I never knew his title was "Mecha-kara;" it sounds so much cooler than the "Robo-Linkara" I had in my mind.
May I say that all the hard work you put into this shows; this what built up after so much time and it really pays off. However, it feels like you sort of started with your Superbowl, as though the year 2010 started strong, but do you have something planned for the end of the year? Please don't misunderstand, I enjoyed the back-to-back episodes and this Mecha-kara. I just don't see how you could get any better. But then again, I didn't think you could top the Warrior review with Spoony. :)
Thanks for all your hard work, it doesn't go unappreciated.
