It is damn cool, but uh, wow, how much use are you gonna get out of it? I actually wouldn't mind using this same tutorial to make a custom, bigger and COOLER sword...

12.28.2009 - 12:24 | TheresSandOnMyBootGlad to hear that someone remembers me. I have one of the professionally handmade Dragon Daggers seen in the myspace pictures. In the VGC video, we filmed a part where I whipped out the Dagger but I don't think Doug ended up using it.

I have been trying to find tutorials for costume design for cosplaying. I am poor but love anime and cons, so I have always wanted to cosplay.
Oh, and first page WOOT.

For those of you who play a musical instrument and hadn't figured that out on your own.
Excellent tutorial, Linkara. Can't wait to see that dagger put to use in the epic struggle for humanity. ...Or something like that.

12.27.2009 - 00:31 | tiggerpetenice job on the song, wasn't sure the actual notes because I haven't heard it in a while and I kinda sucked at ear training when I was a music major (though that was mostly because I kept sleeping in and missing class, 8 am is too early for something like that)

Now we know the answer to "he has a magic gun, where did he purchase that".
How dare you cheapen your own theme song, sir. HOW DARE YOU! ;)
-
12.27.2009 - 12:21 | KuariWait, really? Wasn't the Minnesota Renaissance festival, was it? I go that yearly (mostly to see Johnny Phoenix and Tortuga Twins admitingly rather then shopping) and I have never seen any places that sell anything resembling old muskets from the wandering around I've done.

That. Was. Amazing.
You can also buy spray enamel model paints... but keep in mind that enamel paints take FOR-EV-ER to dry.
Might want to use acrylic model spray paints (what I personally like) and then a spray top-coat to seal it in place. You can buy shiny or dull top-coat depending on whether you want your prop to be shiny or dull.

I'm just kidding. That's awesome! I do not have nearly enough patience to build something like that. If my wallet were bigger, I would gladly have Prop Lady build me... I don't know, Sisuca from Suikoden Tierkreis? That'd rock. :3
-
12.27.2009 - 00:21 | vid3oman64Okay, that was funny.

I'm not for sure if I should be impressed or disturbed by this feat of amazing. Seriously though, having owned the original toy too, I'd love to take a stab [no pun intended] at that if I had the talent.
Great work~

12.27.2009 - 00:12 | funnygutsI had one of the daggers when I was a kid! It is probably in a landfill now. Question: does yours still make noise, or has that part broken? I'd be surprised to see if any of these still work after fifteen years or so...
-
12.27.2009 - 00:27 | tiggerpetesweet, are you planning on an actual cosplay as green ranger in the future, or is this a prop for the show?
-
12.27.2009 - 00:28 | OgawaBurukkuThe Green Ranger was the only interesting character on that show, so I won't rip into you for being a Power Rangers fan. Then again, I was probably a little too old for that when it came out. I grew up when Ninja Turtles were the big thing :p
-
12.27.2009 - 00:35 | galactus177Ugh I don't have the patience to make crafts like this, the mindset to cosplay,& I HATE power rangers A LOT so I won't be using this but for the people who do like power rangers this was probably very helpful on behalf of them i thank you Linkara.

Anyway, that is one cool dagger you can use to lay waste to your enemies or ring in the new year. Or summon a gigantic Japanese mecha to also lay waste to your enemies. Enjoy the dagger!
I wonder if she'd also do various Iron Man armor components.
