But then the whiney wife and stupid, careless little boy lost me.
Though in regards to the comic's story in comparison to the fist few issues, not bad in being nearly identical. They both have much of the same story and they both have great characters. The best representation of a more, shall we say, 'realistic' reaction people would have to a zombie apocalypse. I always felt that at the core of the story, if you removed the Zombies and inserted some other virus, or even nuclear radiation, it'd still apply and much of the story wouldn't change at all. Certainly deserving of The Long Box, Moarte.

I was wondering if The Walking Dead would find its way to the Longbox. I've not read many of the comics, myself, nor much of the TV show (though I do recall not enjoying the episodes I saw). I am, however, a huge fan of the recent games by Telltale, which so far actually look to be my Game of the Year.

10.22.2012 - 03:56 | TrangleCI have to disagree with Linkara on one point. I think the biggest problem with the comic (besides the fact that it steals so many ideas and themes from other zombie publications and movies) is that the characters do not act realistic and natural. Sometimes, especially in later issues they behave like characters in stories for children. Also the way single zombies always manage to sneak up on the characters whenever the plot needs a bit more drama and/or action is getting ridiculous, but I suppose that is a problem all fiction about the slow moving Romero kind of zombies shares.

pause at 5:03. that is the face of a man who just went in the cupboard to get some oreos, took out the package, and found the package to be empty because some sick sadistic bastard ate the last oreos and just left the package in there, and now this man is broken. just broken. all because he just wanted a goddamn sandwich cookie.

I am liking this show already. Linkara is a good as ever, but the character takes its time to grow on me. Terror isn’t my think but so far I am considering changing that. What I do not agree with are zombies in general. After so many Resident Evil games and movies I think that, even if they happen, has to be in a world without those because we kind of know how to fight zombies, being both science monsters and just magic creatures.
Also, I don’t watch the Walking Dead but: How you make a zombie a character? They as to be just those freaking creatures that eat humans. They lack brains and personality. Is not much of monsters since most of the time are normal humans who has to make them room to be a treat or the plot force our main characters to go to “that place where all the zombies are and yet we still have to go”. Maybe is because of the horrible Resident Evil franchise but that is how I watch zombies. I may look at this series.

I had no idea "Marvel Zombies" and "The Walking Dead" were made by the same person! Well, worked on, I guess. I have been having a lot of trouble signing up on this website. At least I'm finally back, but don't know for how long. This may be the most well known comic you've reviewed, next to the Sandman. I had no idea it's been going on for ten years, but with so many volumes, I guess it makes sense.

I have a suggestion for an independent comic you could review. It is called "Dead World." It is in a similar vein as Walking dead, except its run started in the late 80's. In fact, in reading the ones I have, there are many similarities between this and Walking Dead, including using a destroyed zombie to get by the undead (though admittedly the way it's done in Dead World is a bit more goofy). Also, the story has bounced around between many different publishers, starting with Arrow comics, moving to Caliber, and eventually ending up with Image Comics (and those are the ones I know of). The ones I have currently are from Caliber, which is part of their first run at it. While I enjoy it, I know there are lots of problems with the comic, such as inconsistent art (articles of clothing appearing and disappearing, wonky faces), unnatural poses (living and undead), an odd sense of humor, and even some major departures from the normal zombie criteria. In this series, some of the zombies can talk, and act almost like normal (except for the rotted and maimed part) which I think is kinda cool, but in one scene I actually started laughing when some of the survivors are being chased down my zombies driving cars. Seriously. But for all that, I still like it. However, I also know that there is enough there you could get some mileage out of it. Hope you find this helpful!
Looks like I'll enjoy the comic as much as the series. Keep it going Moarte. now you got to end this month out on a good note. Muwahahah!!.
