Lightspeed Rescue sort of started this idea by having the Rangers directly linked with the military, but this concept was perfected in SPD, which was probably my favorite of them all. I'd like to know what you thought of SPD, though there are a few seasons to go before you reach it....Anyway, I love your comic reviews, and I love these nostalgic recaps. Keep 'em coming, Linkara! :cheer:

these were so well made and Now i've learned so much about what I used to see when i was 10 or so. i remember being 12 by the lightspeed thing and still watching it, but this had sooooo much Nostalgic value, thanks Linkara for making it =D
ok so my question, you keep saying from the Sentai footage? now is that actualy japaneese footage used in an american show? like "cut and paste" to say it frank? or is there more too it???
was it like the japaneese made a show then American copied it and made their own by just pasting the fight scenes and puting other actors???
if so why didnt they make their own show? was it to expensive? could they not offered their own martial artists???
please i would really like to know

RED from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger's primary Katana turns into a buster sword, and then into a giant GunBlade...which shoots Elemental disks which is still actually pretty damn awesome.

You know, I'd skipped this season, and I have mixed feelings about whether or not I want to see it now that I've seen your review. On one hand, I have to agree that Carter is awesome and the characters are actually pretty interesting, as is the story. However, I don't really want to watch something in which the villains won't move me in any way, whether making me love them or hate them.
On another note, I can't wait for your Time Force review! It's my favorite season of Power Rangers (as well as Mirai Sentai Time Ranger being my favorite Sentai series). From your comment at the end, it sounds like you enjoyed it too. Here's looking forward to your opinion!

Whoah. All of a sudden I appreciate Carter. I always used to hate him.
A part of that can contribute to the fact that out of all the PR seasons, LR was the one I watched the least. The only parts of LR I watched was the Curse of the Cobra saga and Trakeena's Revenge (and the episode the Supertrain Megazord debuted. Seriously the thing is awesome) so I hardly got into their personalities.
Taking the seasons and analyzing them from an adult perspective is the major reason why I like these reviews; they allow us to give us a second look at seasons we either loved or hated, and stuff we didn't care about or didn't know. Awesome vids, eagerly await TF.
When I think of Carter I think of this.

Only difference is, Carter is not as bat-shit crazy as Kyosuke, but they can certainly be over-powering and manly when they need to.

I remember hearing the theme and cringng, god it was cheesy.
I thought this series was pretty hit and miss. But the next one was BADASS, as is the case usually with time travel

One more PR series that I didn't have knowladge before this nor I have seen orginal sentai series that this was based on. That morphing that they had with those shields coming towards them reminded me about Shinkenger were kanjis come towards them when they morph.

The morphing scene is just... weird and unimpressive.
Speaking of guns becoming melee weapons and gunblades... Final Fantasy 13 has Gunblades that have a "gun-mode" and "sword-mode".
Continueity? Whats that? "There are no monsters." Yea, too bad the town is like the center of the goddamn universe and EVERYTHING happens there...

Great review as always, but I must acknowledge my disappointment at one thing: an entire series built around a technologically advanced para-military organization in a futuristic underwater facility... and not ONE SeaQuest joke?

Great review, though I am surprised you didn't mention the scene where Diabolico tries to kill Impus. I know they're both demons, but still... the guy was planning to murder an infant. That is messed up for a kid's show.

I think it's funny that Linkara reacted pretty much the same way I did when that stupid lady in "Trakeena's Revenge" says to the girl that there are no monsters. Yikes, she doesn't get out much, does she?
I also thought the kid herself was really annoying. I kept riffing her scenes, like when she says to Carter "But you said I was gonna be a Junior Ranger", I went "Oh, I just said that to get you off my back".
Btw Linkara, thanks for showing there's no shame in being a fan of Power Rangers. I even bought the Ultimate Rangers DVD thanks to your reviews of the seasons. Keep up the good work =]

07.15.2010 - 07:49 | excelladonI loved it, and speaking which the relation between Joel and Dr.fairweather kinda reminds me of Ziggy and Dr.K in R.P.M. because Both Joel and Ziggy are comic relief , both are green rangers, both pilot green zord viachles types , and with the Doctors, both are earth based, and created the morphers and the arsnal and the zords and both have a stingy relation with the green rangers until the end of the season when they are together.
