honestly- i didn't even notice power rangers from here til Ninja Storm, but hey i was what in my 20s? i was more into getting laid and working. but when i did start getting back to see what they were up to, i checked YouTube a lot...but seriously- i think i was better off. and this theme was ...ouch my nuts! but moving on... good review Linkara.
Additionally as cheesy as it is, the team ups always will kick ass! especially in SPD.
one thing in part two i think that Linkara touched upon was there was an actual death. the first (and only if i recall) to happen to a power ranger.
Thus showing that a kids show can go all jean grey without pulling a jean grey....almost.

One thing I found funny about this series was when Maya morphed. To put it politely she was well endowned, while her Super Sentai counterpart was male, so she appeared to be flat chested :D
It does seem that after the postive response that they got from killing Zordon at the end of Space, they decided to kill as many people as posibble in this series (Kendrix, Magna Defender, Magna Defernder's Kid, Mike for a awhile)

Another nice part of the history is looked over. Out of all the seasons, save RPM, I believe this was the one I saw the least of. It wasn't that I disliked it a lot or anything of that nature; this one just never seemed to be on when I was watching.
I liked your reaction to Kendrix's death and your opinions on Vilimax(sp?) especially. I saw enough of Vilimax to like him and I happened to catch the death. I was about as surprised as you seemed. :)
I can't wait to see the next one. I remember feeling pretty cool about Lightspeed Rescue, so I'm interested to hear your take on it.

Not sure if you knew, but the villain of that series was portrayed by Vernon Wells (i.e. Bennett from Arnold Schwarzenegger's Commando.). You might be able to place in a joke about it.

Lost Galaxy was the season that turned me into a PR fan. Mostly BECAUSE and not despite the fact that it came out on Saturday mornings, which was the only time I watched TV, so it was the first season that I watched every episode of, and I proceeded to watch every subsequent episode of Power Rangers up until halfway through Wild Force, because that was when Fox Kids sold its timeslot and Disney bought PR from Saban. Lost Galaxy remains my second favorite season just under Time Force.

actually the concept of finding a new homeworld for humans to live using massive ship colonies in isn't a new thing with an anime called Macross. Unlike Star Trek where we have fleets of exploration ships to map out possible worlds, in Macross or Robotech if you like that rehash, Earth sent out fleets of ships to find new homeworlds for them to settle in. The idea is that we don't know if we can find a new world, or how long it'll take, so creating moving human colonies like what we see here is something to keep people feeling more like home than just in a ship. Like a floating biodome

Lost Galaxy is one of my favorite seasons, for some reason - I think there are a lot of reasons, but a big one would have to be Trakeena, who's pretty much my favorite non-Zedd villain. I was honestly kind of sad when she took a nosedive into crazyville; it's hard to imagine that she went from being a fairly background sort of villain to getting so good at swordplay that she could take down two monsters at once. And very easy on the eyes, too. >_> Shame, shame.
Also, the In Space teamup is the first and best of the Ranger crossovers, in my opinion.
Oh, about the Morphing Explosion - whether it's canon or not is up for debate, but in RPM, they actual explain what it is, and you're guess was pretty much in line with it - when the Rangers morph, there's an excess of energy that sometimes comes out in the form of a massive explosion, especially when there's so many of them in a single place.

Despite the plot holes, i LOVED LOVED LOVED this season. You covered the parts that made me teary as a kid. I cried when Scorpius, Kendrix, and Villimax died, and even now it gets me teary. And the ending was so gripping and suspenseful.
PS: I outlasted you?! Hell, I watched religiously from "Day of the Dumpster" until the middle of Dino Thunder. I should get a medal!

I know that you know about the existence of Sentai, but I'll inform you of the whole thing with the Magna Defender Morpher. In Gingaman, BullBlack, the Magna Defender's counterpart transformed simply by thrusting his sword, the BullRiot, into the air after saying his transformation call. Since Saban felt obligated to give each Ranger a Morpher regardless of circumstances, they borrowed the Aura Changer from Gosei Sentai Dairanger and used it as the Magna Defender Morpher

Lost Galaxy is where many of the so called "purists" quit due to the sole reason of standalone. I politely have to disagree.
Linkara certainly put it well; despite plot holes it continued some stuff In Space started: teamups with past alumni, sympathetic villains, and the grand feeling of a space adventure. Sure it may not have that end all feeling that Space had but LG is probably one of the most underrated PR series due to it just coming off of Space and starting the standalone series.
And considering that this is the first series that Linkara watched as an adult, he certainly put the whole season in an entirely new perspective. An excellent review, can't wait for Lightspeed Rescue.

06.12.2010 - 23:05 | Defender 01Ok what you probably don't know Linkara is that the magna defender morpher come from the Sentai series Dairanger. I don't know why it have to look like this , just that it came from this series. Probably the producer was not looking to create an original morpher and use one that is unuse. Since they only use Dairanger footage for the monster and thunder megazord battle.

06.12.2010 - 23:11 | KNIGHTMAREMANIACthis show made green my favorite color, the terodactil thing was awsome, and the green ranger was a cocky badass who tackels monsters for fun, awsome

These videos are basically the most entertaining thing on the Internet as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, before I watched these videos, I tried to remember anything good about Lost Galaxy. I only remembered Kendra's death, Magna Defender and his son, and the final battle against Trakeena. I'm surprised that I have absolutely no recollection of Villamax; he sounds like a great character.
I thought Lost Galaxy was pretty good, but I tended to hold a grudge against it just because it was the first time that the series became self-contained. I'm really curious to see what you have to say about Lightspeed Rescue. I felt the imagery of that season was really dark, and, for whatever reason, it felt the most "Japanese" to me, as if Godzilla could appear out of the water at any given moment.

06.12.2010 - 23:28 | Aninikawhen I was a kid this series had the most impact on me. This was just a horrible experience, I mean the pink ranger DIED?!?!?!?! I remember balling my eyes out, being 8 yrs old, I wasn't use to seeing character death.
However my favorite series belongs to the next one PR Lightspeed Rescue even tho I loath the theme song. I'd say this was my second favorite and PR in Space was my 3rd.
Great Review
What? Why are you all looking at me like that? Why do you act like you're expecting me to say something? Something juvenile, something asinine, something that I probably should say simply because I never had and never again will have the opportunity to, etc. I guess you'll have to get used to disappointment.
