06.01.2010 - 19:38 | GoggleCandyAbout time it showed up on the site. Watched this a few days ago. Was actually hoping you'd talk about Ecliptor a bit more. He sort of felt like the benchmark for future anti-heroes/not-so- villains (Koragg for example).

06.02.2010 - 18:15 | redmangcI loved this show it was so freakin cool when i was younger and looking at it now its just wow. there are some things i dont like, like when the orginal power coin was used.... why not the green power coin it wasnt destroyed persay but it was better than all the others also that damn ending I HATED IT, but for the right reasons. I mean why would you Kill zordon and it also ended the "Pssing of the torch" Power Rangers now there is just random rangers that we dont know. But you gotta Rember to Linkara, Bulk did hold the Record for Bench Presses in one of the earlisest episodes... 1009 yeah that many, so he should have been one of the main targets that the rangers needed to help them

A serialized plot, sympathetic villains, evil rangers done right, teamups with past alumni, and a crisis finale ending 5 seasons worth of story, it's no wonder why fans consider PR in Space to be the best season of all time.
IMO, the...less-than-stellar Turbo contributed to that. The reduced budget was perhaps a sign that they wanted to show the end, so they did indeed pull out all the stops.
I'd say more but Linkara summed it up perfectly. But now we press the reset button and move onto Lost Galaxy and onwards. With no more continuous plot, will LG and onwards be good or bad in Linkara's eyes? Perhaps. Perhaps not. We'll see.

Yeah, I really don't remember the special effects at all, but the story was really REALLY good. Made me want to write. Countdown to Destruction still gets me teary at the degree of Awesome! and EPIC!.
Really can't wait for Lost Galaxy. It was one of my absolute favorites. I hope you mention that the actress who played the yellow ranger in Lost Galaxy is now a "scream queen" and does NUDE modeling. Yeah, she was the naked foreign exchange student in Not Another Teen Movie. :0

06.01.2010 - 21:03 | otakudangreat ending to the zordon saga. it sucked that the episode that adam returned was not titled back in black.

06.01.2010 - 21:11 | WilwarinI stopped watching Power Rangers after Turbo. Mostly because by the time In Space came out, I was in the 8th grade and had 'outgrown' the franchise. I caught a few clips every now and then, but once I realized that Zordon was gone, I just didn't see the point in watching anymore.
Thanks for doing these reviews. It's good to see what I missed during the following seasons that I missed.

06.01.2010 - 21:17 | Shanetefilmmakerone thing I just didn't understand about countdown to destruction, during the fight between Andros and Ecliptor, there was one part where he used his sword to slash at Ecliptor, it may have been a mistake in the angles or something but I coulda sworn andros just cut ecliptor's arm off. and if that is true, isn't that a little extreme for a kid show, I know I know they have a lot of violent scenes, but up until in space I have not seen one villain get their hand chopped off apparently

I have to admit, that crossover was the reason I stopped watching Power Rangers (even though this season clearly turned out to be one of the best). That was just the final piece of how badly Saban butchered the Turtles and card nothing about them through that entire horrible Next Mutation series...
It's best explained here.

It's sad to see the end of the connected seasons. I grew up watching this show, and watching that montage almost made me cry. I'm loving this series Linkara, and can't wait for the next installment.
Also, that don't sound like no golden marmoset I ever heard.

greatest season. hands down. great story, awesome villains/anti-villains, and bulk and skull charging into battle. aside from the turtles crossover this was written amazingly. I remember my jaw dropping throughout the entire season, from the red ranger at the UAE, till the finale. This really was a great season, and I thank you Linkara for doing it justice.

06.02.2010 - 00:28 | jobocanWow, that looked like an awesome season... Why did I have to stop watching at Mighty Morphin season 3 when I was a kid? I remember the base getting destroyed, so I have no idea why I didn't continue watching after such a cliffhanger...
Anyways, everything here seemed like a huge step up from Turbo, and maybe even any other season. The story was a lot more serious, there seemed to be tons of cool moments, the vilains were better, and Bulk and Skull were just insanely badass in that final episode. Seems like it was the best way to end the storyline. Sure, there were some stupid moments here and there... but what would Power Rangers be without stupid moments?
Great video Linkara, can't wait to see what comes next.

I think that when the Turtles said that the Rangers didn't exist, I think that it was just the writer's way of explaining the crossover. In the Turtles universe, the Rangers are probably just comic book heroes, whereas in the Rangers universe, the turtles are comic books.

I never really got into Power Rangers as a kid, only catching the occassional glimpse here and there and a brief interest in Lost Galaxy, although it was mainly for the music. I was, however, a huge fan of the Irish Fantasy equivalent, "Mystic Knights of Tir-Na-Nog".
That said, however, on the occassions when I got a glimpse of Ecliptor, he always struck me as the most badass villain ever, especially given his colour palette and my favourite colour being green.

06.02.2010 - 00:45 | KolicI finally made an account on this site just to comment on this. PR: In Space has been my favorite season for a long time. I am amazed by your review of it. Your PR reviews have been great and pointing out that Bulk and Skull had a very unique development gave me a new appreciation for the characters.
So a huge huge thank you from a closet Power Rangers fan (seriously, why is it okay to like Sailor Moon, a sillier, goofier sentai show of it's own, but liking Power Rangers seems to have a stigma?)
Also, a huge thanks for mentioning Sfdebris. I've been a big fan of his Trek reviews for months and I assumed he was an influence for your Ranger reviews, given your narration style, and it's cool that you asked him permission.
Again, you made my night with this review, making me laugh, cheer, and even (very very embarrassing) tear up a bit.

06.02.2010 - 01:17 | KolicJust a follow up to my original comment. I WAS going to kick back and enjoy an episode of Torchwood, but this review was so epic that I'm having a hard time settling down to watch it, despite how well-written/acted it is. I'm actually at a loss of what to do now. Hah.

I remember loving this season so much as a kid, I distinctly remember being interested in Andros and Astronema's story and thought the conclusion was great. I know back then I really hadn't thought that much on the meanings of it all and the nature of how someone could be good or evil but I see it now and it seems even cooler that they did that.
And I remember even as a kid noticing how far Bulk and Skull had come from being one-note bully stereotypes to becoming great characters with good qualities and turning heroic. It's not often that secondary characters get developed so much in a kids show and this showed that it can happen and how it should be done.
I really thought that the montage you made was fantastic, and as silly as it may sound it gave me a good feeling and made me remember how much I liked the series when I was a kid. It actually makes me feel like looking up the old episodes to reminisce and if I have a chance I'll try to do that.
There's no better way to open a show than with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Actually there is; like starting it WITHOUT the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I think this is one of my favorites of all the Historys thus far. I'm glad that the series ended on a high note and Astronema is by far the best main villainess of all the series thus far. I like the way Bulk and Skull have changed through out the entire series culminaing in that single moment. I'm interested to know what the next series are all about.
Thanks Linkara

06.02.2010 - 01:37 | AirrestOh hell yes, Linkara. I am so excited for this. When I was a kid, I BARELY watched Turbo, but that's where it stopped for me, so I'm excited for this. :D
