Bad case of Giant Aquaman Syndrome, eh?

I wonder if his uselessness grew along with his body...

They desperately need to write Aquaman more closely to his Brave and the Bold counterpart.

That show single-handedly made Aquaman the coolest guy ever.

Hey, Linkara. Do YOU watch Brave and the Bold?

    Heroes dying, magic, time travel...

You pretty much just described the plot of the SNES game Chrono Trigger :D

Oh snap...I hate it when that happens. Stupid time travel death and stuff...you would have thought they would have watched Back to the Future or something.

Why though is Superman's logo based on the golden age logo from the 50's though?

And why does the Martian look like Dara O'Brien? :D

This was right after a crossover event called "Our Worlds at War." Superman wore the black logo as a sign of mourning for all the people killed in it.

Ahh makes sence I think they did something similar in The Dark Knight Strikes again.

Still it looks like a great comic and I will definetly have to buy it.

Wow, you dont get sh*t like that in Marvel when you time-travel..

I remember several X-Men stories with similar premises...

If they had used the ways of destrucity they wouldn't have died.

Very funny Linkara, great review. I'm looking for another graphic novel to pick up so I'd assume you'd recommend this one?

    Yup, most definitely. ^_^

Ohh nothing on the replacement JLA that Batman had as a back up. I love that Nightwing was the leader.

  • Linkara

Sorry, the backup League was good, but there was only so much room.

Wow you responded back to me. Thats pretty cool and I understand why. I was just excited during the storyline because Dick Grayson is my favorite DC character and they made him the leader of The JUSTICE LEAGUE.

Wait, is this the arc where Plastic Man gets scattered into near atoms and has to slowly reconstitute himself over the years it took to get back to the present?

I've read the Obsidian Age, but only now does it occur to me that there's a similarity to a Superfriends episide in which Aquaman and another Superfriend (can't remember who) get stranded in prehistoric times. They bury a transmitter emitting a distress signal under the spot where the Hall of Justice will be built and millions of years later the other Superfiends pick up the signal and go back to rescue them. I wonder how many D batteries that thing used. :P

Mainly because there are aspects of this storyline which STILL baffle me. My main one: HOW DID SUPERMAN DIE? He was fighting that weird alien chosen one deity thing, it slammed him into the ground...and then he was dead. HUH? Was there magic involved that I missed?
And exactly how did the present and past link? It had something to do with that blonde-haired sorceress...

I did love the description of one of the Ancients though. His body armor was oiled with the blood of his enemies. Or blood itself...would blood function as an oil?

Hmmm... if only we could use blood instead of petroleum...(ellipses)let's just say the world would be a much more funner place to live in.

    Supermans skelaton?

Holy f*ck i thaught he was a demi god

  • BlueGoldBizarros  - Not quite
    avatar

Though magic and kryptonite are usually "the only things that can kill him", really there are various cosmic energies that can dangerously harm Superman as much as any other living organism.

And there are other alien species in the DC universe that have been known to be as strong or even stronger than Krytonians (Superman's race); Hell there are issues of Justice League that claimed J'ohn J'ones (Martian) was MORE POWERFUL THAN SUPERMAN (but Earth's atmosphere prevents him from regenerating wounds)
But probably in this story it was magic that killed him. But them again, I haven't read it yet (though I plan on doing so now!)

  • No Limit

So - how many times have they died now? XD

  • BlueGoldBizarros

Do you mean actual deaths or one of those "In this issue, BATMAN DIES!!!" issue where they happen to "die" a month later  , cuz the 70's were filled with those issues!

    OH GOD SUPERMAN NO!!!!!

I gotta read this comic!!! :woohoo:

  • AtmanRyu  - Sounds about right.

That pretty much describes Obsidian Age.

On the positive side, it did show the latent awesomeness of Plastic Man by showing how he was able to survive 4000 years at the bottom of the sea broken into millions of particles.

    Someone PLEASE get him a good writer... ;-;

Reminds me I need to pick up the TPB of that and of the series where there are White Martians disguising themselves as a superhero team. Batman owns in that story.

Btw, just finished reading Green Arrow: Quiver for the 14th time. Would love to know your thoughts on it.

    Linkara:

Feb 2009, Immortal Iron Fist #21. Cliche, poorly drawn, and confusing, not to mention completely out of the plot of the rest of the series. My candidate for AT4W.

Also, very good I5P, and yes, obsidian age was awesome.

It's ironic because I've recently been pimping my copy of those books out to like, everyone. I've had to explain that the zombies on the cover of vol.2 don't foretell epic lame about three times in the past week or so.
