I've read the Obsidian Age, but only now does it occur to me that there's a similarity to a Superfriends episide in which Aquaman and another Superfriend (can't remember who) get stranded in prehistoric times. They bury a transmitter emitting a distress signal under the spot where the Hall of Justice will be built and millions of years later the other Superfiends pick up the signal and go back to rescue them. I wonder how many D batteries that thing used. :P

Mainly because there are aspects of this storyline which STILL baffle me. My main one: HOW DID SUPERMAN DIE? He was fighting that weird alien chosen one deity thing, it slammed him into the ground...and then he was dead. HUH? Was there magic involved that I missed?
And exactly how did the present and past link? It had something to do with that blonde-haired sorceress...I did love the description of one of the Ancients though. His body armor was oiled with the blood of his enemies. Or blood itself...would blood function as an oil?

Hmmm... if only we could use blood instead of petroleum...(ellipses)let's just say the world would be a much more funner place to live in.

Though magic and kryptonite are usually "the only things that can kill him", really there are various cosmic energies that can dangerously harm Superman as much as any other living organism.
And there are other alien species in the DC universe that have been known to be as strong or even stronger than Krytonians (Superman's race); Hell there are issues of Justice League that claimed J'ohn J'ones (Martian) was MORE POWERFUL THAN SUPERMAN (but Earth's atmosphere prevents him from regenerating wounds)
But probably in this story it was magic that killed him. But them again, I haven't read it yet (though I plan on doing so now!)
